I rebuilt my oil cooler for my 2016 Cruze using FEL-PRO oil cooler gasket kit part number ES-73215, clean everything up and my car is running great. helpful video 🙂
It’s all very sturdy aluminum. Shouldn’t crack or break. Usually it’s their gaskets that fail. Autozone sells a Dorman set for 20 dollars “Oil Cooler Gasket Set” you can rebuild this without buying a new one if you wanna save money!
After replacing the oil cooler, water outlet and timing belt it says “oil pressure low stop engine” any idea what the problem could be? The engine is also ticking
Have you checked with an oil pressure gage yet? Could be a bad oil pump, or could be even worse. Once you hook that gage up you'll be able to know more about what could be going on.
How did you get the shield out? I am currently in the process of removing and was not sure if its just man power it out or there is a little more finesse that needs to happen. Engine matches yours exactly seems to be getting hung up on the dip stick holster. I also have not removed the O2 sensor which I will go get a socket for it. Which size would I need?
I had to turn my dipstick all the way to the passenger side and then puzzle piece it out. the O2 sensor socket is just a generic one. It's made to have one side open, I think its a 22mm but just bought a sensor socket.
Hey mate, need your advice, please. I replaced my oil cooler with my mechanic, and 5 days later, it started leaking again. I bought the oil cooler from ebay with 5 years warranty , with all the oil seals , because a genuine Holden oil cooler was $700 without the seals with only 2 years warranty He fixed it again because the new part I got had a hairline split in the casting "we think." So we opted to try and use the new inner cooler and bolt it onto the outer older casting because it looks perfectly fine . The reason why we did this is because you can just buy the internals to save money as the outer casting is usually not the issue . Most times the seals go on these wich makes them leak . So can you throw both of us any ideas, maybe an oil pressure issue, blocked outlet valve somewhere????
I had a hard time with my gaskets being like a plastic. I had to actually scrape them off the block. It’s possible you had some material get left on the block and not make a seal. Or it’s possible that when the cooler was installed the gasket folded and isn’t making a good contact. Sounds like it’s a gasket issue. If the problem was inside the cooler itself you’d more than likely have coolant and oil mixing.
