Luckily in my case I had the starting rattle too and it was only the solenoids ended up being the intake solenoid at fault but changed both drove it with the starting rattle for a while until it started to affect the car while driving too reduced performance and started to sound like a diesel rough knocking sound and eventually the check engine light came on had p0011 without the check engine light and then after 1st doing a oil flush it changed to a p0016 with check engine light when started the engine after oil change. It might still rattle on fully cold starts but have started it a few times since today and didnt have the rattle so will see it drives better now anyway even the flush and fresh oil helped a bit before new solenoids fitted. Thank you for showing how to remove that pcv pipe clip I had to disconnect a load of things I even removed the airbox to get some more space which particularly helped when it came to removing the solenoid after the bolt to have space with some grips
Great video and I appreciate the fact that you had multiple options of what the fault could be and what to listen or look for. Thanks, and you didn't need to say sorry for anything.
This is the exact sound my engine makes on start-up. Goes away within a few seconds. Only comes back when I turn my car off for longer than 10 minutes. I have been searching for the problem for over 6 months. Thank you!
Good video, I have this code on a family members car but not rattle on start up but lacks power intermittently. Thinking OCV is getting stuck. Also apparently she hasn't had an oil change in over 30k.
For now my Chevy Cruze got the same sound when i start the engine. I’ve already changed the intake camshaft few months ago 😢 and still got this code. The garage recomend me to replace solenoid, i dont know how to fix right now I’m from Vietnam sorry for my bad English 😢
When you say “clear engine codes”, does that mean to disconnect battery for a little bit to reset the system, or do the lights go off by themselves after issue is resolved?
In mines the timing belt was starting to break and was throwing the intake and exhaust vvt solenoids codes. I ignored it and the belt snapped bending 1 intake valve and 2 exhaust valves. The engine was telling me it was sick and I didn't listen 😂😆😂
I appreciate the videos you are providing because I have a 2011 chevy cruze eco and try to keep her running well ,the only thing I would suggest is turning up the volume, I had to keep my phone to me ear to hear you fix it tips and wasn't able to watch the videos.
Tengo mi Sonic 2016 una falla pierde presión cambié bomba y válvula check y nadams no aveces si tiene presión por donde se miden las presiones pero aveces se pierden apoyo porfavor
My sonic 1.8 rattles sometime for a minute straight replaced the Phasers from Dealership, replaced vvt solenoids and cam sensors from autozone still throwing the p0011 p0016 p0014 codes anyone have an idea?
I changed my timing belt, intake vvt solenoid, and the sensors, and I still get this code. I don’t hear the noise at the beginning of the video so I have no clue what it could be. Any insight? Thanks!
Hmm, I would start with good clean oil and run some sea-foam with oil to make sure theres no carbon screwing with sensors inside engine. Maybe the sprockets are just starting to go and its not yet making a noise? Hard one sorry man
The solenoid and sensor should be the same idea but your sprocket is way different, the 1.8 has a timing belt with sprocket outside engine. The 1.4 has timing chain with sprocket inside engine.
What all was your symptoms with the sprockets? Mine makes a weird noise at startup and goes away in a few seconds, I have codes p0016 and p0420 and I’m losing speed on hills.
I heard that sound couple of months ago and replaced cam phaser sprockets and got rid of codes. But now p0011 and p0014 is showing up and my car is burning the engine oil. What would you think the problem is ? Mine is 2011 1.8 Cruze
I’m getting codes p0366, p0016, p0341, p0097, p0113, p11c2 and p2228. Any idea what that problem could be? I get the rattle at start up and when shutting the engine off. I replaced both solenoids, camshaft position sensors and the maf sensor
@@Mr95KennyI got rid of all the codes except for p0016. Is it safe to drive with that code on?My main daily vehicle was involved in an accident and this is the only vehicle I have at the moment.
what happen if i will ignore that? Or how long i can drive with this problem? I need my car right now bcs work, i think after one month i can fix it, is it problem?
Hey so my code said p0011. Would this affect the idle of my car at all? Been having terrible idling with air on and rpm’s aren’t acting normal. I know they dance more with the air but this is abnormal forsure. Also does it affect my acceleration? Been having really slow pick up almost like my car is choking?
@@suleymanbas7671 P0011 is a generic OBD-II trouble code that indicates the camshaft timing is over-advanced, or above the threshold. It can appear on any vehicle with an OBD-II system, but is related to variable valve timing (VVT) or variable camshaft timing (VCT) components. Symptoms of code P0011 include: Rough engine running, Difficulty starting, Poor idling, and Increased likelihood of stalling. Some possible causes of code P0011 include: Off camshaft timing, Stuck open valve control solenoid, and Faulty or damaged wiring in the valve control solenoid system. While code P0011 usually doesn't mean your car will become undrivable, it's best to check out the issue as soon as possible to avoid more serious engine damage. Here are some things you can try to diagnose and fix the problem: Use an OBD scanner to retrieve the trouble code by connecting it to your car's OBD port Visually inspect the VVT solenoid and wiring for any damage or loose connections Check the oil level and quality to ensure the engine has the correct amount of clean oil with the right viscosity Consider replacing the VVT solenoid if it's faulty Check the camshaft position sensor for faults Inspect the timing chain or belt for wear
I think these cars are pieces of s*** mine freaking knocks like crazy on the top end I've changed out a lot of s*** in it and it's still knocking like a freight train I think I'm going to drive this thing over a cliff and then only buy a new car that's what I think about Chevy
