The Cruze has sensors just like the carts wheels do at grocery stores. It's to deter the homeless from walking off with them. But in the Chevy Cruze the codes trip once the vehicle passes from the lot onto public roads. Keeps the customer coming back faster than a basehead on crack! Moral of the story is: Don't be a junkie!😂
For weeks now I've been on dozens of Chevy Cruze sites and forums and no one has been able to say what you just said and make it plain and simple like you did. Thank you so much.
Do NOT go to your dealership if you want Incompetence and a empty wallet. go to a trusted mechanic. Cruze's are known for these problems: Coolant/Oil Leaks, Water Pump, Cracked Valve Covers, EVAP, and even Camshaft issues. but alot of these things can be avoided per-emptively. and also some modifications can be done.
I just want to thank you for explaining everything so simple. I had a mechanic give me the run around. Now days it's hard to find honest people. Thank you very much. Wish I can have you work on my car. It's the same model your working on there.
@@aslanmammadov2230 Yes thank you. I'm a Doordasher and it's so embarrassing to have to rev my engine in a drive through bcuz so many places are still closed inside bcuz of small staff from Covid. And I'd bought 2 different coil packs thinking it was that. I cant believe it was just that it hadn't been pushed all the way onto the valve and secured with the metal pin. 🤦♂️ I cleaned it and now it fits and secures. Basically it was just laying on it not even secured.
If there's no code but you still a rough or slightly weird idle you have to clean the throttle body, my car would idle up and down and a couple of times it'll idle off at a red light or while parked. Clean all of your air flow sensors and the throttle body and many problems will go away, I a actually removed my throttle body of the car for a deep clean. The same spray you use to clean the sensors works for cleaning the throttle body or anything air flow related, just make sure you let it dry for about 10 minutes before turning the engine on. Hope this helps guys 👍😃
Going through the same thing with mine right now. Taking it in to have the spark plugs done. That 1.4 is terrible and nothing but a headache. Mine is a 2016 and it never seems to run right, even with regular maintaining. I followed in my Grandad and dads foot steps and stayed faithful to GM, this is the first time I've ever been let down.
Thanks for the video. I did timing belt replacement and also replaced valve cover Gasket at the same time. I didn't install valve cover Gasket properly and it let air in causing P0171 code. Once I resit valve cover Gasket properly, the issue went away. I used incese stick smoke to find where the Gasket was letting air in.
Plus you got to Make sure your dip stick is seated all the way in. I replaced the valve cover and the original dip stick did not fit all the way in the new valve cover and kept popping out and would make the engine run real ruff. I had to modify a replacement dip stick . It fixed the idle.
I’m sorry to hear that but that’s exactly what I thought about the one I had. After posting the video I did replace front timing cover gasket, Oil pan Gasket, And many other seals that were leaking oil as well. The car has only 100k miles. These gaskets didn’t have anything to do with rough idle but everything pretty much needed attention at that mile
I have code P0171, just replaced my pcv valve cover, but my cruze still wants to turn off when i make a stop at a traffic light, what do u suggest replacing now
Hey i have a 2015 chevy cruze ls around 111k miles and was wondering if you could be of any help. It has the same problem as it shakes and engine turn off when it is stopped and loses power randomly. I noticed however this only happens before the car heats up. After it heats up it seems to not happen. Ive replaced driving belt and serpentine belt already. Any thoughts?
@@aslanmammadov2230 there is no check engine light and I believe i replaced the mass air flow sensor a few months back. If i remember correctly, the codes had something to do with radiator sensor and coolant sensor or something.
Hello everyone he have no idea what he’s talking about if you have a leak and when you put gas in your car and it has a rough start at the end of the day I’m gonna tell you what will fix the problem replace the purge valve that were The leak is coming I change the purge valve on my Daughter ❤️😘 car and she have not had a problem Wolf her car after that change a purge valve get someone to reset your check engine light and it will never come on again purge valve purge valve $54 at advance auto $28 on Amazon truthfully it’s best to buy from Advance so you will get the right one but again just change the Purge valve
You are right. It is one of the cause and that is the first thing we replaced on this vehicle. And I’m talking about general causes about this code. If you have no idea what I am talking about you can turn on subtitles.
The air supposed to flow in only 1 direction. It goes from intake to Turbo. So when you blow it from where I showed it will stop the flow. But if you blow from other end it should move freely.
Look for other videos of the PCV valve on the valve cover. The diaphragm of the PCV valve normally blows air through the vent on top front of this valve. When it is ruptured is when you have the problem, and it sucks air into the crankcase. You can feel the suction if you put your thumb over it. GM had a recall on this that may now be expired to replace the valve cover for free. I had the problem and paid for the repair but got reimbursed later when the recall came out!
Good morning, i have a 2014 Chevrolet cruze 1.4 t. Randomly shuts off, 50psi fuel pressure, new battery , cables look good, 150psi compression. Any help would be appreciated. Ty
When I got my Chevy Cruze about 9 months ago I had all sorts of issues I fixed. So my question is. On start up is it normal for my RPMs to go above 1000rpm then after about a min of warmup my RPMs drop just below 1000rpm? I ask because I have never had a car do that.
2015 LTZ 86k miles here. Took it off and tested the hose which was good so I cleaned that little nipple with compressed air and my P0171 went away. Before this I had a code for running lean and thought it was the fuel injectors and put a cleaner in the gas to help clear those out, that went away and then this came up. Something definitely is in need of a cleaning/maintenance in the fuel and pcv airflow systems. But for now and until I sell it in the next year, should be fine.
Code is back. Going to check other hoses and see where the vacume leak is something from. Too much air getting in fuel mixture. Also going to run another cleaner through injectors to see if the just aren't shooting enough fuel.
When you remove dipstick while the engine is running it’s normal to hear air sucking and most likely the engine will run rough as well bc you are letting the vacuum escape.
I am writing to you from Germany, please can you tell me what is the pressure of the fuel pump, how many bars? Can the fuel filter cause this p0171 error
@@alexmuller2936 I didn’t check the fuel pressure. The fuel is pretty clean in USA and people don’t usually change the fuel filter or the pump. They last at least 150k miles and this car had only 100k miles which is 160k km. What is the odometer and year of your vehicle? This code causes for air leak for 99% of the time.
I have a 2012 and it does the same thing great video now I know how to fix it just one question how did you change the idling position or how does that work?
I have a maxicom Code reader which can do a lot of stuff but if you don’t have one: Unplug your negative battery cable for 30 minutes then plug it back. Start the car up and make sure all the accessories are off including A/c. Let the car idle for 30 minutes. Then shut it down. Let it rest for 20 minutes and start it back up and let it idle for 30 more minutes with A/c on and that’s all.
I changed the pcv hose and maf sensor. Cleaned throttle body and replaced purge valve. Having same code. Black smoke from exhaust and black charcoal spark plugs. And it sometimes stalls. You think it would be the valve cover to cause that? Its not hissing or sucking anything in or out. If i open oil cap or dip stick while cars running theres no change in idle
Yeah. Don’t attempt to do that at home lol. It has ECU in the engine bay and many more electronics that may mess up if you pressure wash it. Thank you for your comment :)
My car it shakes when I’m park or sometimes when I’m driving and while is shaking the front light sometimes they are flickering and also when it I’m driving and I am at a stop and when I accelerate is accelerating slow and 4 or 5 sec it bounces back and forward like if someone hit from behind any ideas what could it be I already change the valve cover so is not that please let me know if you know something about this situation please ty
Does it have check engine light ? If so stop by autozone and they do free obd scanning. Get the codes once you have the codes it will be easier to tell
It's weird they bury the turbo like that. Mine is very visible right at the top front. Why does it have a diesel badge that's the real question because mines a 2.0td.
@@aslanmammadov2230 You are right. I did manage to get it off. But I have noticed that every manufacturer seems to have different connection/disconnection methods. Even with the lock pulled to release the connection on the engine side the hose end did not come off easily.
@@gawelek1980 this code can be bc of various things. I would start checking by simple stuff. 1. Check Air Filter, 2. Clean Maf sensor, Check the connector 3. Check for air leaks. 4 change Maf sensor.
The pcv valve you pointed to that is on the intake manifold, is there a way to replace it without replacing the entire intake manifold? Also, the second pcv at the end of the hose that goes into the turbo, is the pcv valve part of the hose, or is it attached to the turbo, and is it replaceable?
The one in the intake does not come out by itself. The whole intake needs to be replaced. The one on the hose comes with the hose. The part number shoes on the receipt.
on the minute 6 or 7 you said that u had to replace something whats the name or part number of that part ?/ located at the end of the turbo hose with the sensor and the intake ?//??
i did a cat back exhaust the other day and ever since my cruize has a engine light and runs very rough at idel only sometimes tho sounds almost like it’s boging out or about to stall ,took the cover off and that circle valve it’s blowing air dosent wissel but it’s blows air any ideas ?
I got a 2016 Chevy Cruze I put gas this morning before going too work it did not want too start the third time it fired up could you tell what's the problem thank u brother
@@joselebron3184 happy holidays. when you go to autozone ask them to scan the codes for you. it is free and you may have the codes that will help to pinpoint the issue
What kind of noise ? And it may not idle rough all the time. This car did it after 50 minutes driving it and it happened sometimes when I stopped on traffic light.

I had a scan tool that could reset. But if you don’t have one remove the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes then put it back. Start the car make sure lights, Radio, air conditioning is off and let it idle for 45 minutes. Drive it around later for 30 minutes then stop the car let it idle again with Air conditioning on for 40-45 minutes and that should be it

@@G_G_AutoCareLLC that means too much air going into intake. Brake cleaner test works when there is huge air leak but when it’s a small leak you won’t be able to figure it with brake cleaner. According to your fuel trim number it has air leak. Your vacuum buster may fail as well. Is your brakes work fine ?
@@aslanmammadov2230 brakes sometimes go the floor when at low speed I believe that is the micro switch tho fuel trims have never been this high at idle it’s currently at 23.4%
Hello, I have a question for the same issue for my Cruze. I replaced the Crankshaft seal, belt and also valve cover but this issue still exists. The orange nipple you mentioned in the intake is missing and not visible. can you please suggest what I have to do? Do I have to replace the whole part? or it can be repaired? Thank you,
The whole intake needs to be replaced at this point. I read on some forums that some other people made aftermarket pcv bypass kit but you will have to modify the original intake and remove it as well. I would highly recommend to buy new intake manifold from the dealer and replace it. 1.4 ecotec Cruze engine is very unreliable and everything make out of cheap plastic parts and they all fail at no time. Even dirty oil may cause p0017 code.
@@aslanmammadov2230 Thank you for your response. The orange thing is called check valve. I was reading at Dorman website part no. 615380 they specifically mentioned that issue and saying that in their design they addressed it. In my experience cruze has the worst engine, after 50k km expect anything from it.
@@YasirAli-bc9oy p0017 can be nightmare to fix sometimes. I have worked on turbo, intake, exhaust, Timing chain on this car nothing feels this cheap on any car. Everything I removed was either damaged or about to go bad. All the gaskets and seals were leaking at 100k miles
Seems those GM ecotec engines now and then causes small probs..i own a 1.4 aveo 2012. Mostly prob with the lambda, new one in but often still the engine warning light...i just take off the Neg. Bat pole to reset....prob now is 'dancing' idle ....
