Thanks for the information Rick.. I have an 88 Chevrolet G 30 I'm fixing up; and I'm having trouble with my wing windows staying open on the highway. Do you know if there's a fix for that, also the handle for the window is very loose. Are the parts available or do I need to go to a Pick and Pull ??? Thank you any information would be greatly appreciated....... John
Thanks for watching and posting I really appreciate it. And to answer your question the wing window has 2 pivot points the top one is riveted and sometimes that rivet is loose. You might be able to squeeze it with some large channellock pliers, I have never tried it. And then there is the other pivot point. But to access that one you will need to remove the complete wing window. and you will see a spring and it is held on with a nut. tighten up that nut you may have to bend the tabs or if the tabs are missing that could be the reason the nut is loose. Just do not over tighten it you could break it off completely where it attaches to the glass frame. My advice it turn it a quarter turn at a time checking it as you go to see when it is sufficiently snug. And you mention "the handle for the window?" Are you referring to the lock for the wing window or the crank to rase and lower the door window? Because if you're referring to the lock for the wing window you can buy that brand new but it is from a C10 pick up truck You can see the part number in my other video. and you can see the spring at 4:27 in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i0tkkropvMU.html If you are referring to the window crank that is common with these vans and trucks the gear teeth can strip you can buy those new or pick them up at the junk yard. www.summitracing.com/parts/gmk-4020443671p?seid=srese1&gclid=CjwKCAjwyNSoBhA9EiwA5aYlbx_TmD47ECfNQe1b1CncSGvMdDw1ZiPxY9ptmvMisvwG9sk5OOq7JBoCwY4QAvD_BwE I am 99.9% positive that this is the correct window crank gear for your van as it is identical looking from the one I took off my van. I always get them from the junk yard.
I didn't' paint the doors at all that is the way I bought it. But YES I remove everything from the doors when I paint. take a look. and thanks for posting and watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RpGps2uuXds.html
