Hi lock is 4 wd and Hi is 2wd, Low is 2wd and Low-lock is 4wd. The oil pump in the rear transfer case only runs on High lock, or you will burn the pump, shaft bushing and seal out of the rear housing. So occasionally put it in Hi-lock to run the pump and oil the rear case housing. Drive a few miles in High lock, occasionally.
