Thanks I really enjoyed the video. I am getting ready to do some much need repairs on my Hummer h2. Your videos and others have given me the confidence to attempt many of the repairs my. I am currently replacing the front differential seal on the driver side. Once again thanks alot for the view of the sequence that I need to follow and the clear instructions.
Amazing video and very informative. Did this seal change and lower ball joint on passenger side. Used anaerobic gasket maker on both sides. Worked out perfectly, glad u made the video from start to finish. Gave me the confidence to tackle. Had some help from my brother and Neff. Thanks again.
doing a 93 k3500 very similar this was well done .Good job. Can you do a left front axle seal its way diff and i cant seem to get the out put shaft off
Watching your video you said you have to remove the tire and cv axle. Wrong . Not necessary. Remove flange bolts and it lowers far enough to pull the axle and tube off the differential housing . Done it multiple times. Simple as that.
Should there be a gasket or rtv between the shaft housing and the diff? Mine is leaking there and I'll be taking it apart soon to fix the leak. The seal is good so I won't have to take it all apart.

@@revived_diesel4445 I replaced my steering box yesterday looks like I'm gonna need a front diff seal soon as well. Noticed leaks while I was under there.
Nice job. Wish I woulda found YOUR seal repair vid before I decided to spend the $532.36 at local garage. Lol. Other peoples vids made it seem too complicated, yours was slow and step by step. Nice job. Mad at myself now. Oh well. How about vid on DRIVERS side when/ if mine should start leaking? Garage said its not near as time consuming as passenger side.
Only the drivers side is designed to do that not the passenger side you will wreck those washers if you pull it. If you know how to do it then why watch the video.

My only question is what year is your truck? I watched one video where they said on the newer Silverados... 09 and later they don't have that little C clip you had to work up over the shaft spline. @@fisherguy No I did not have to terret apart to fix it again I just forgot to put that part in the video during editing... Ha ha and yes there is the workbench I had a 4L60 and an Allison tore apart on the two workbenches I have
You can put it together without any and you will be able to drive around like that for a while just keep a eye on it. There isn’t any pressure in it so it won’t just flow out
Do some 1500s not have that thick washer on tip of that washer with the ears mine didn't have one did some guy not pur it back in after taking apart its a 2000 silverado 1500 need help asap please it's my daily driver.
@@revived_diesel4445 it was leaking I got it back together I changed bearing also don't know if everything is good or not yet gasket is still drying. I used loctite SI5900 is that Stuff any good? I hope it turns out ok I think the washer got bent alittle i put it in the vice to flatten it back to shape, when I first got tube out I hit the flange with a deadblow a few times then stopped when I saw I guess your supposed to use a puller which I didn't have so I used 2 screwdrivers and it popped off. Before my axle shaft was moving in and out too? Now it's not. Im not sure if it was the bearing or what I'll post a comment to tell you how it turns out.
@@revived_diesel4445I got it all back together rtv on axle tube dried no leaks did both sides seals and bearings now passenger and drivers side, used section of allthread 3/8 size with a blind hole bearing puller attachment and slide weight out of slide hammer kit for drivers side bearing. Thanks for posting video just thought I would follow up with my results, had to use air chisel and long extension to get bearing out of passenger side axle tube it was much more stuck in there than the drivers side.
No not just cuz it’s leaking, it’s rubber so as it gets old and dry it will leak and then you need to replace the seal you can check the shaft play to see if it needs a bearing but most of the time if you fix the leak right away the bearing won’t be dry and prematurely wear out
Question I have a tahoe 04 and it’s leaking from that same part but where you disconnect from the axle. Is it the same seal that I replace like you did or ? Thank you I wish there was a way to send a picture of where mine is leaking. It’s not the left side though it’s the same let you are replacing just opposite end. Thank you
Do you gotta drive it around for couple mins/miles cause Im sure I did it right and exactly how you did yours cause I had to change the seals from the cv axels and the gasket where the actuator goes.. when I go into 4H works fine no issues no sounds put it in neutral to go in 4L and it engages fine but when I hit the gas it just revs and moves 2mph if any.. any help? There’s a vent hose that goes where the fill plug is on top.. and I haven’t connect it do you know if that’s the issue? I did put in new cv axels and tighten them with my impact wrench.. do you think I over tighten them? 🤔
No you didn’t over tighten them they are ok but to go into 4 low you just put the truck into neutral and hit 4 low if it’s not working then there is something wrong inside the transfer case cuz the rear wheels should still be moving you forward without the front axles pulling you. If 4 high works as intended then there is a different issue the front diff works the same 4 high or 4 low the actuator just locks the diff in nothin else
@@socal69_88 everything has to go in the way it came out but in 4 low the rear tires should still be spinning even if the front isn’t engaging but you said the truck doesn’t want to move so I think you have more wrong
@@socal69_88 you should try changing the transfer case fluid call your closest GM dealer with you vin and they’ll tell you what fluid it takes, mine takes a special fluid that might help make things inside there work better I think it’s inside you transfer case cuz the actuator is working fine in 4 high
Nothing needs to be used correct? Because the seal that holds the fluid was replaced. Fluid was leaking from the differential when he took the axle off because the seal was bad to start with and allowed it to pass through
I have a puller but it sometimes doesn’t do the job as easy as a basic tool and the seal driver for that seal is in the tool room and I’m not going to look up the part number and go into the tool room and find it when it’s not for a customer it is for my own truck
Hey bro hows it goin. So I changed everything like you did and now my 4x4 will not engage it sounds like metal clunking down on the axle. Any advice? On the positive side no more leaks lol.
Just use the cursor on your computer and click ahead or adjust to a faster playback speed. Video editing takes a long time and is a lot to ask of someone who has other stuff to do and is already saving you hundreds of dollars in labor with an educational video.

@@revived_diesel4445 so I got it all put together the same way I pulled everything out and filled the differential but I put it in 4wd and it started grinding and then put it back in 2wd and it sounded like metal on metal and then just parked it, you think it could have been the gears catching and then breaking?
I busted my two washers before I found this video. I've searched for 3 hours online for what the names of them could be. Does anyone have the part numbers or name?
It's supposed to fit tightly, otherwise it would leak. When something fits tightly, it requires some force to make it seat properly. It isn't strange at all.
mathieux martin I don’t remember the spec but just put some RTV on it and tighten them up just so it seals and won’t leak I forgot the RTV in the video sorry about that
