Malta, a little island with no neighbors and no migrants voting for it from abroad, managed to arrive 2nd with 100% televote and 3rd slot in the running order. They did an amazing job that year, they should be proud of Chiara! Only Russia awarded them a fair amount of points (12)

Just a woman alone on stage singing her heart out. A sweet ballad and a powerful voice. Not many singers can do that and be marvellous. Very fun also that Greece was so different. Greece and Helena/Elena was great too but this is one of my absolute favorites. And this is also the best of Chiaras Angel performances I have seen and heard.
One of my favorite runners-up of the 21st Century. Chiara hasn't had a single bad entry for Eurovision, but "Angel" has to be my personal favorite. Such a crisp voice, paired with a lovely stage presence. 💙💙💙
those are the good years of eurovision with songs that were well writen,meaningful lyrics and made a noise in the arena when a specific country performed....
I sometimes feel so bad for Chiara.......she is really Katja Ebstein of the decade........I hope she does come back (obv can't in 2019 but later maybe) and wins!
MESC, their national final, will be no more. Their entrant will be chosen solely through X Factor Malta and she doesn't really fit in the 'undiscovered, unknown' artists category.
+Γιωργος Παπαπετρου Katja Ebstein is a German singer who represented them (back then it was West Germany) in 1970, 1971 and 1980. She is considered one of the most unlucky artists competing in Eurovision because she placed second once and third twice.
Chiara WE LOVE YOU!!!!! You were my winner that year (and I come from Greece). Your songs are AMAZING!!! You are my winner twice, in 1998 (way better than "Diva") and in 2005 (Better than our loved Helena). In 2009 you were so UNDERRATED!!! You were my runner-up (After Iceland of course). You have the best voice in ESC. I hope you 'll come again in ESC for the last time with an amazing Ballad and win EVERYTHING.
