I used to goto the Franksville located in Morton Grove years ago. I believe it closed down in the 80's. I'm pleasantly surprised there is one that's still open. I have to go there ASAP !
The BEST Chicago style hot dog is/was at Bull Dog's Hot Dogs in Wauconda, IL. It's been over 30 years since I've been there, and they may no longer be there, but they certainly made an impression on me. Vienna beef wieners are a must. Caraway seed bun, steamed. Spicy mustard, celery seed salt, bread & butter pickle spear, diced onion, 2 slices of tomato, and the quintessential uber green sweet pickle relish. No other hot dog like it in the world. And for the record, no one under the age of 5 years of age MUST NOT put ketchup on a hot dog. It's the unwritten 11th commandment.
There was a Franksville in Fort Wayne, IN in the early sixties - same sign with the train engine. I don't think it stayed open very long. Was this a chain at one time?
A lot of them are the same but at the same time, some are better than others. The last Chicago hotdog I had was probably the best version. Perfectly well balanced and the quality of the meat was way above average.
Another hard assignment for Elliott. Imagine getting paid to sample food from all these places! What's his secret for maintaining that beanpole physique anyway?
My favorite hot dog of all time. Grew up on these, after every soccer game at Hiawatha Park my mom would take me here for a foot long hot dog and she'd get the gyros
When I went down Harlem Avenue in December 2016 the place was closed. Don't know if it was a permanent thing, or just for that day. Disappointed, since I have not been to Chicago since I lived there 9 years ago. Miss the food.
Culturally English and Americans are from different worlds they have different tastes, most Americans are European immigrants and they have different cultures all together Englishman just dont get it and cant blend in the American world.
I don’t know if this is a TV show or just some type a RU-vid post but it’s typical that you pick another place in a white area go to the southside some of the best food in Chicago don’t be scared and for the hotdog category there’s no place better than Fatte Johnny’s on Western Avenue
