In this video, I break down the rookie year tape for Chicago Bears RT Darnell Wright, who was the best 1st round offensive lineman last year. I think we will see a big jump in year 2, proving that the Bears drafted a high quality starter for the long haul.

Will Darnell Wright be a Pro Bowler in 2024?
@kyledabearsfan
@kyledabearsfan Месяц назад
I think he has the talent to pull it off and with upgrades to our OL, he should make a solid leap. Hes incredibly good, people didnt give him enough credit during the season because of our horrible start. One thing to note with his reps vs Crosby, he was actually dealing/coming off a left shoulder injury for that game. There was a shot he didnt play at all, and he still played that well. Dude is a beast. Love the "report card" at the end!

2024 might be a bit early I think 2025, but if the Bears win a lot of games, he and Jenkins could make it.

It all depends on his footwork. The kid is ungodly strong and has good hands.

not with the inconsistent Bears coaching and their offensive line as a group. Wright is the only ok player on the Bears o line
@kyledabearsfan
@kyledabearsfan Месяц назад
@@jaycutler118 nah Teven Jenkins is a beast. Nate Davis is solid but had a down year. Coleman Shelton played for the Rams and started, was solid but has some bull rush problems. Teven is arguably one of the best Guards in the league, if not for injuries he would get a lot more credit.

I recall Wright was dealing with a shoulder injury throughout the season, which may explain why he was weak vs inside moves.

He was basically playing with one arm vs Maxx Crosby and held up pretty well.

I think he’ll take a big jump this year. Going from Fields to Caleb Williams will also help his stats quite a bit

He held up way better than expected. I felt he was the most pro ready comin into the draft. Held up against Crosby with one shoulder and foot. Jones is gonna make anyone look silly. What do u think of Braxton jones? If u can do a breakdown on him I’d be estatic

Great coaches? That remains to be seen. I have seen the Bears pull thing with this o-line I have trouble understanding how they get away with. Matt Canada was chanted out of town for being boring. The Bears utterly _sabotaged_ Fields. They'd line a TE up right next to the T then pull him. Since the TE can't move until the play starts, the T can't step to block the rusher who now heads toward the open gap. Guaranteed failure Every Single Time They Used This Play & use it they did. On other plays, we've seen Fields lean right over the C, point directly to the uncovered defender then the C would drive himself the other way. Wouldn't even help Fields get back up after the sack he just allowed. & I wonder, does PFF even _rate_ o-lines for blocks they don't attempt? Because if so, it's impossible that the Bears aren't dead last. I can't imagine any other team doesn't release anyone doing what we see at 22.45 of ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FiiK21VzI_o.html or any of the other plays that allow pass-rushers through untouched to the QB. Even in videos showing why a draftee is a bust they at least get their hands _on_ the other player. So the only way the Bears get away with this is if those plays aren't counted. When one sees things that obvious, the only questions left involve intention. If this was intentional sabotage to have an excuse to move on from Fields, fine. It should be a non-issue. Seeing Wright play this well lends itself to that thinking & therefore the Bears shouldn't _intentionally_ be making such plays ever again. Unless... Well, what kind of coaches call for that intentionally or not under *any* circumstances? "Great" ones?

@@choosecarefully408 Wow. It's all definitely sus. But I think they plan to make something better with DW. Just looking at actions. Maybe HE will end up leading the offensive line lol

@@HightauerUSA The off-season is the time for hope, sure. But I can't say one way or another on him being a leader. I've been a coach, trainer & middle-manager. & I never needed to watch or read "To Kill A Mockingbird" to know what happens when people in decision-making power make wrong or bad decisions. You only need to see one parent or coach destroy a kid's soul once & if that doesn't make you think about things going into the future, nothing will. As a result I have none of that "hope that overcomes all logic." I do not assume people in positions of power are there because they earned it. I have seen how many people simply shift faith onto anyone they see in such positions. They stop thinking. I don't. If the Bears were trying to win they can't have not been looking at those plays. So they saw them. At this step, most people turn away from following where their thoughts lead them & start spewing empty rhetorical nonsense to defend their belief(s) that the people in charge know what they're doing. That just allows the troubles to grow. Around week 9 of '22 then again in week 2 of '23 Fields called out his play-callers in a vague way. Funny how if anyone looks this up they always find & report that "he walked those comments back in '23" & never refer to him doing this in '22. There seems to be a Great Fear among NFL fans in calling out the coaches. But look at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5JO1PsupF_U.html. Based on the eye test, what if anything is Fields worse at than Caleb? Because if I'm a Bears fan & we had Two Calebs, one we could have traded for The #1 WR prospect in forever & 2 or 3 more high end players or draft picks & one only for a conditional 4th-rounder, I'd effin' _pissed_ that the Whole Team decided to go for the second option! I'm dying for someone to make a video proving Fields hasn't lost any of what he had in college. In fact, he's a better rusher now. The only differences have been play-calling & on-field talent. *He* still does everything at the same skill _level_ as Caleb, only he's been doing it in the NFL.

Braxtons biggest flaw is he’s not sturdy down low for your usual LT bull rushes and other power rush moves can eat him up, and he’s admitted it. 5 round guy too so people will just pick on him without watching, bears fans know Braxton is legit

I don’t think Wright was close to as good as Paris Johnson Jr over their rookie years. For starters Johnson had never played RT till he got to the NFL and once he settled in he was starting to play at a very high level ranking as a top 25 OT 2nd half of 2023 over last 9 games of 2023. Johnson also faced a much tougher murderous row of pass rushers compared to what Wright faced, he stonewalled Bosa twice. Paris’s pressures allowed percentage was 2% points lower than Wrights and is a much better pass rusher. And lastly Paris Johnson Jr showed much more growth over the course of his rookie season than Wright did. Over the 2nd half of 2023 between weeks 9-18 Johnson had a PFF Grade of 71.7, in 4 of his 8 2nd half games Johnson had 4 grades north of 70+ overall n had 7 games of 8 with PFF Grades of 65+. You look At Wrights 2nd of the season he had ONE single game with a PFF Norrh of 70+ between weeks 9-18. Paris Johnson now sliding to his natural position on the side I think he takes a massive leap forward and will post elite PFF Grades north of 80+ as a PFF Caliber OT
