To make a long story short... West Garfield Park has been for years considered the most dangerous neighborhood in Chicago and one of the top 10 of most dangerous neighborhoods in whole America.
Spent a lot of time around congress and Kilbourne back in 2011 when I was a heroin addict. I've been clean now for over 10 years but man oh man that place is a whole different world.
I lived on the west side from 1965-1979, then we moved to the south side. I enjoyed my time there. We didn't have gun violence back then like today. So glad my generation didn't experience that.
From throwing news papers at 9 to riding on Ice cream trucks and working at 14 to driving at 18 and whatever comes inbetween all the mess come from drug fights some domestic
I LIVED IN CHICAGO FROM 1957- 1979. I love my city. But the violence is awful now .. my grandson have never lived in Chicago, but they know all about O BLOCK. 63rd etc.. from reading bout the violence
Grew up there and miss certain aspects of that place. Now I live in Oklahoma. Too bad much hasn’t improved, yet the homes are really expensive now so I guess the plan is to price the poorest groups out.
Now you are going at a nice speed, we can see the areas. Like I said before, My home town. Only born and raised on the South side 47th and Federal. Lived on 79th and May , and Cabrinie Green..
Actually, it looks in pretty good shape. Lots of people on the street, cars parked along the streets, stores open. Take a look at some of the Detroit videos if you want to see urban decay. Other than vacant lots, not much signs of that in this neighborhood. Of course, it's not the night time.
Chicago neighborhoods are not just dangerous but it's very " good hoodies." It's good being in places where it's never a dull moment..minus the violence. I know I make it my business to visit any so-called ghettos, hoods, slums, as tributes. ✊🏾👊🏾🖕🏾👍🏾🤲🏾🤝🏾
Thank you. About a year ago I had a chance to briefly talk to a female police officer who works at East Garfield Park and she said that there are were 8 or 9 sets "operating" in West Garfield Park area and that they have quite sophisticated system of selling drugs. She also mentioned that working there was considerably more challenging than working in her area; however, East Garfield Park wasn't a "walk in the park" either.
@@drivingdude8849 Yeah police officers must have things to say about all theses area, its like 65 homicide last year thats crazy for like 30k people, thanks for all these good videos
I don't know. I have been hearing about investing in these neighborhoods for decades and so far everything has failed miserably. A lot of money have been spent and there is nothing to show in the end.
I’m an average white guy and I walk around this area daily. It’s not that dangerous. The numbers make it seem like it is but it’s almost always b on b crime
West Garfield park alone has 40 homicides and over 208 ppl shot so far this year. Minneapolis is soft compared to that… the 11th zone police discrict on the Westside had more homicides than the entire city of Minneapolis.
My baby daddy was killed at night he was walking back to his friends car and someone followed him, robbed him (not sure when the robbery occurred before during or after) shot him multiple times from the back. Cops came pretty quick to the scene. This happened on January 7 2021. He’s missed by soo many, we still don’t know who did it but I pray whoever did it haunts them forever. He was too nice for these streets ♥️ I wish he never had left that night. But then again if we knew our loved one was going to die then there wouldn’t be a lot of deaths. At least that’s what I tell myself just to stay sane. Rest In Peace babe 💜 ( yes that’s him on the picture) ismael Carrillo 💕
@@juniorcarrillo4213 Damn sorry for your loss, the evil walking the streets has zero regard for anything but their selfish agenda, like were in a 3rd world country. There is a higher power that will destroy those people eventually, just know that they committed a crime against themselves also.
