This actually brought a tear to my eye. Its so heartening to know that ordinary Americans love our cars which we built with pride and skill in Australia. Alas GM US has seen fit to kill the company which will start slapping the proud Holden Lion on POS Opels and GM Korea cars. This is ending badly for GM US because as stock of Commodores has started to run out the dealers are terrified because foot traffic is reducing to very low levels which is a portent to what is going to happen to the company now. Too bad for GM US. They killed the goose that laid the golden egg. If I had the money I'd send all of you gentleman Holden Lion badges so that you could badge the cars as they were originally intended...as proud Australian Holdens. The Lion no longer rests his paw on the rolling stone of progress. He has died an ignominious death at the hands of GM US.

To my Australian brothers, Thanks for making these great Holden Commodores. Sorry to tell you that all the presses, welding and ancillary machines have now been shipped from your Holden factory in Elizabeth SA to our GM Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly where the new Chevy SS will be built in 2021 with a minor cosmetic makeover from the 2017 model which was built in Australia. In years to come it is possible that these amazing cars will be exported back to Australia from the USA. How mixed up is this? I have driven the Chevy SS and I believe it to be the best 4 door car ever built in the world with its 415hp LS3 V8. Take care.., David Matherson

Great video, we are getting a decent size group of people here in Oklahoma that love holdens. I recently did my conversion on my gto back to a Monaro.

Update to my comments seven months ago... What most Australian motoring enthusiasts predicted about the closure of the Holden factory has come true. Holden Australian sales have slipped into single figures, percentage-wise, with the Koreans and even Mitsubishi outselling the once proud marque. No one seems to want the new Opel-derived Commodore, even though it seems like a half-decent car and sales of other Holden-badged Korean and German cars have tanked. It has become so bad that GM has brought in a top gun who used to work for Toyota Australia to boost sales. He will fail because Australians have turned their backs on Holden just like GM turned its back on we Aussies. Either GM kills the brand and launches the bowtie in Australia or they quietly start manufacturing in Australia again...at first with CKD kits and then letting Holden engineers do their thing with any locally-made vehicles. Holden's engineering and design departments were never axed. GM US realised how good these people were and kept them working on international designs. Anyway...interesting times for GM and Holden, that's for sure!

Question with all that Supercharged HP and torque were you able to keep your original two piece driveshaft ? I’m building my last car as I’m 69 yo and it’s a 54 BelAir. I was luckey to find a low mileage wrecked 2015 Caprice SS Bought the LS3 / 6l80 and a zL 1 supercharger. I’m swapping the drive train into my 54 with a custom chassis. Only asking it for 625 HP at the crankshaft running stage 1 BTR cam kit with stock ZL1 pulleys. Conservative build. 👍👍

I find it interesting how they all give props to Holden because it was built in Australia by Holden but what most people need to understand is IT WAS BUILT BY HOLDEN A GM SUBSIDIARY! Meaning it was designed by GM/Holden employees and uses GM Engines and Transmissions aswell as GM tech!! This is a GM car without the restrictions The USA has!!
