Going to be a truly interesting season and good to see a chief who understands Voight and won’t be a total adversary. Jason Beghe is Chicago PD . . . can’t work without him.
Enough is enough. I know who Voight truly is because he has emotions to even if he rarely shows them. What I hate the most is how people can watch the series and right away pick him out as a bad guy which is not true. When you look at human behavior and habits neither of those defines who you are. There are no good or bad people. There's both inside everyone because we can choose to be one or the other. All the characters are not being corrupted as they work with Voight. Just because he's the boss doesn't mean he takes control of their lives. Like him they have the power to make their own choices for the good of the team and Chicago. Jay chose to help Voight and work along side him. Hailey I think is just blind but she to has made mistakes in her time. All the team has and sometimes when they needed guidance they would always go straight to Voight first. Even if Jay goes there's still Kevin Atwater who isn't afraid of Voight. Burgess and Ruzek could also step up because they respect and admire Voight. Trudy is also a large part of their family and she knows Voight better than all of them. Dante Torres needs to know that he is his own person and kinda does his own thing so he may or may not follow in Voight's footsteps but that's up to him. Like Voight told Hailey he doesn't not want anyone to be him that's his job and his team's job is to be them and yet they still stick close to him and pay the cost for him because they can and it's what they want to do weather it's what Voight wants or not. He has done a lot of illegal things but he has done heroic things to like being a father figure to the team including Lindsay and Ruzek when their parents used them. He been there for Atwater and Jay when they got shot. He's given them all great advice and guidance whenever they are stuck between what they should do or say and what they shouldn't. The serge is not an evil person despite anything he's done because he's human. He and Jason Beghe are pretty much identical in some ways but neither are bad. There are some that are cold or have a blank look on their faces or don't talk much or smile and have done questionable deeds and sins but that doesn't make them evil. I would like to go to Chicago one day and meet these guys face to face and get to know them from their angle. He's even helped out people on the streets and children to and in the beginning of the new season helped a young boy after a drug overdose and got justice in the end. Nothing, not his actions or accusations or past or anything of that sort rings antagonist to me but a protagonist with a pure brave true and warm heart.
💯 agree with you @Bailey. There is no such thing as bad guys or good guys... there are just people! Granted there are people who do do horrific things but they usually do them for a reason. What we have to ask is why have they chosen to do these atrocious things?! I think 1 of the main reasons I love Voight as a character is because I truly respect Jason Beghe as a person! He seems so warm and caring! I think that maybe Jason plays Voight as he does is that he sees Voight as the other side of him! They are both kind, caring honest people who would do everything for those they loved. Food for thought 🤔 x
