Hey Tom, its was nice meeting you at the pipe show. My Father and I were just leaving the smoking tent when you were going in. We had to get going but I immediately regretted not turning arround and smoking at least one bowel with you. Maybe next time. Keep making the great vids! - Jim
Oriental Blend No. 6 has been a favorite for years. Have dozens of tins of it, Yenidje Highlander, and multiple years of Christmas Cheer in the cellar. All great stuff!
Wish I could have attended, originally from Chicago! Great food, great people and lots of pipe smokers! Would love to share a bowl or ten with you brother......Thanks Tom😎
Some of the neighborhoods still retain their original character - and the food is great! Of course, what we hear about with Chicago is the gun violence, but honestly, other than reading about it in the papers, there wasn't a hint of that where we were. -Tom
It was great to see you again Tom. Always enjoy sharing a drink and some fine and tobacco. The blend I gifted you a bowl of is CPCC winter from 1997. Hope you had a great show can’t wait to see ya next year!
Just goes to show you how big the Chicago pipe show is! I looked for you in the smoking tent in around the exhibition hall… And never ran into you! Oh well, there’s always next year. Ted
NWPipeSmoker Holy cow Tom, I was going to write to you today. I have a great fascination with ships and harbors. You ever see ships, or can you film smoking your pipe down in the harbor?
The one thing that kind of bothers me about this show is that they call it the Chicago Pipe Show....Like it's in St. Charles at Pheasant Run...I'm only a half hour from there and I live in BFE. Despite that, awesome video sir!
You make a good point! However, tobacco taxes are much lower than in Chicago proper, and it's the 'Chicagoland Pipe Show' - of which St. Charles is a part. I mis-speak sometimes and incorrectly refer to it as the 'Chicago Pipe Show'. -Tom
Oh yeah man I get it! Can't really say you misspoke when that is what it is called....I'm just not a fan of calling everything in Illinois Chicago which most seem to do....Maybe the harsh Illinois winter is getting to me lol Anyways, hope you're doing good, stay warm and smokey!
So tell me Tom...are you home yet because I haven’t seen the haul from the pipe show! I know you grabbed up some pipes and hopefully some tobacco. Aged perhaps. That look pretty fun.
It was really fun, Jeff. A couple pipes, a couple pounds of balkan, some cans of McClelland englishes from Iwan Reis ... it was much more about the experience than the stuff. I think it was more of a tobacco show for most folks than a pipe show, this year. -Tom
The whole thing is fun, but yes, the conversations in the tent (and with the Seattle Pipe Club members, and Rob Cooper and his wife - Coopersark) were my best times at the show. -Tom
