911 dispatchers are amazing. I once heard the entire radio calls from the infamous North Hollywood Shootout, and how those dispatchers kept their cool while a war was being waged - wow. Just wow. They are the true unsung heroes of the police force.
I'll tell you what!! This female dispatcher is on her job.. This is the second police involved shooting I've heard her call.. And she is always poised and composed.. She gets every one in the right place, and even when the officers are stressed she hears them clearly and put the commands out fast.. She is my dispatcher of the decade!! And she has a beautiful voice.....🏆
I concur!! She is a true seasoned veteran and as a former police officer myself, I’d love for her to be my dispatcher! She is a master of her craft. We should reach out to them and demand a promotion and a nice pay increase!
Chucky 365 I’ve heard her before as well. I need to go back and apologize to all the dispatchers I’ve claimed were horrible at their jobs, because this woman makes them look amazing. This is by far the worst dispatcher I’ve ever heard. I was amazed to learn what a joke Chicago PD and its communications are. It sounds like they just started the PD this morning and grabbed a woman off the street and gave her a microphone. Disgraceful.
This dispatcher kicks ass, holy shit. Sounded like she was just about to start radio checking everybody in the district when she found the location, and she kept her composure the entire time, speaking clearly and repeating information calmly. Props to her
I am 83 years old an 2 years ago I fell and hit my head on the edge of the counter in my kitchen ! Had to fight to keep from blacking out ! I was able to pull the phone ☎️ of the counter and dial 911 (I couldn’t stand up ) the dispatcher ( Bless her ) kept asking me my address and getting it “wrong “I kept repeating it to her and was getting a bit peeved ! Later I realized why she was doing that ! She was keeping me from blacking out ! Thank you Officer 👮🏽 You are truly an Angle in uniform ! I will always remember you ! Blessing to you and your family and Blessing to each and everyone of you ! Thank you ! Thank you for your service , you are appreciated ! More then you will ever know ! 🍀 I wish you more luck then you will need ! ( from a Jimmy Buffett song )👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹👵🏻🐶🐈 🖖👽
Used to work in EMS. The company had a policy that you couldn't go more than 10 MPH over the limit with a max limit of 75. If you drive like an idiot, it's only a matter of when, not if, you'll get in an MVA.
you morons would be the first to call for the execution of an officer that kills someone running a red light at full speed because he didn't use due caution and you know it.
He was getting out of the residential area first and I noticed several speed bumps. Plus who knows, CPD might have responding policy that doesn't allow for code 3 speeds in those areas.
Just hearing what dispatchers go thru I can't imagine how they felt on 9/11🙏RIP for those lost and to all our heros around the country 1st responders dispatchers police medic nurses Drs firefighters military and war vets... I want to include air control too for all that they do🙏God bless you all💖much love from Orlando FL🍀
you ever been down those streets with those "bumps"? those things are a sonofabitch , more like curbs that would send you out of control, not bumps, but hills
You hit one of THOSE bumps at anything faster than 10 your car is fucked. Those things will bottom the nose of a Tahoe easily, much lees an Impala or Taurus.
yea your right he is I'm an Illinois state Trooper and you know other cops are faraway and I wouldn't want that cop to respond because I work at a station neat here
I have been in law enforcement for 13 years..I have only responded one time to an officer down call and was driving 122 mph and was mad the Tahoe would not go faster. Of course I was in the county not the city.
This guy is a classic "Doesnt buy any call, but shows up once the scene is Code 4 to make it look like he was there". This is what we call a leach, sucking from the dept. and not offering anything.
If you don't get emotional for something like an officer down call. You must be into some illegal shit. They're out their protecting our lives and sometimes they get killed. This officer at first was slow as all hell. But he didn't have a location. Once he had the location he started going.
just think all that shit on the radio processing through your head. Then you have to interpret it to geographic location to where you are. Not always instantaneous without a definite location like he didn't have right away. So ya lets go code 3 right away tear through some neighborhoods and then figure out where the call is.
Gregory Johnson Responding like that causes DEATH'S and is not considered justifiable in all 50 states, if you saw one of us driving like that then you should have been extremely pissed off and called that agency to report the activity!! That is a dangerous cop because he or she is endangering the public!! We cannot help if we can't get there because we hit a civilian on the way!!! It happens at times but when did u hear about that crash killing anyone? If you hear it on a regular basis, then you better go to the state building and report it.
You commenters saying "He drove so slow". You have to understand that you can't go 100mph through a city. What's the point in going fast if you never get there? I've seen hundreds of crashes from emergency vehicle flying through neighborhoods and cities. He was being safe, and got there safely. That's what matters, arive alive, you're more help that way. You dont need to have cops going to an officer down, then diverting because there's an officer involved collision.
Idiot cops crash or put innocent lives at risk because they think they are above the law and done have to wear seatbelts or stop at stop signs or red lights!! They DO!!! Cops lives are no more important than anyone else's!!
Kyle hooker, wrong you be!!! That scaredy cat didn't light um up until he saw other units lit up!!! If he was being safe that's great and they should be, but the other units sure as heck didn't let grass grow under their tires!! That officer i think was on a bicycle, or he was traveling cause he damn sure wasn't driving that car!!
An officer once said that you should be vigilant and careful even while responding code 3 and hauling ass to an emergency because the last thing you want to add to an already bad emergency is to have an officer involved collision. Then you’d have TWO officers in need of assistance.
When I was an LEO, I was on a run to back up an officer on a disturbance at a towing company. He came on the radio and said, "tell that other officer to step it up, this guy's got a gun !". I gunned it as I was approaching a red light at an intersection, and almost got through before I got t-boned and shoved into a telephone pole. Luckily, it was no big deal at the call, and there was no down side to my never making it, but from then on, I always remembered -- you can't do your partner any good if you never arrive !!!!
That’s not something “an officer once said.” It’s literally lesson number one in emergency vehicle operation training. “Drive slower rather than faster” is actually the subject matter. You are the help. If you never arrive, then there is no help. Plus, resources are spread thinner because you’ve created a new emergency. You are taught not to so much as run to your vehicle, either. It’s a time for perfection - not going fast and messing up. Furthermore, the people you might hurt by doing so did *not* agree to give their life for anyone. And we are their servants. My life or my partners is absolutely *not* more important than theirs. We don’t get to endanger them to save each other. Period. Facts.
When you have multiple units responding code to the same location with lights & siren blaring you have to watch for other incoming units. In the video we saw 3 units approaching the same location simultaneously. If one had just blown through the intersection there would have been an accident. It's better to arrived a few seconds later than not at all.
I've always wanted to be a dispatcher and definitely have the agility but, as a dispatcher you can't do anything about these situations aside dispatch. You're helpless... That must be such a horrible feeling.
Its not fun, I've found myself angry at myself wishing I could of done much more in most situations but there is generally no more I can do from my screen but keep calls calm and understand where everyone is at all times
Dispatcher hadn’t called out the address of where the units needed to go, that’s why this driver didn’t upgrade to lights and siren for a little bit. It would’ve sucked to run priority in the wrong direction and to have to hit a u-turn.
Care taken in his response speed. He's awaiting directions for nearly a minute, and then there is potentially squad cars arriving at all intersections from various directions, channel on clear for officer in trouble, if you miss the details you will need to follow someone else onto scene.
I've never seen such a lackluster response to an officer down call. Back in the 80's I was a dispatcher in a city in California with about 300k population. 2 plainclothes officers approached an occupied vehicle in a park and were shot at by a suspect with a shotgun. One officer was hit. When the call went out, everyone was racing to be first on the scene. Before it was over there were over 50 units on scene, including surrounding agencies. The officer with the dashcam needs to rethink his career choice.
A GOOD dispatcher is gold. Able to decipher panicked speech, get the right people to the right place as soon as possible, maintain cool during THE most stressful moments and finally, lending support, through their measured tones to the people in the field. I've seen bad, and I've seen over the top GREAT. Very good dispatchers are among the unsung heroes of emergency services. Cops are responsible for each other. The dispatcher is responsible for ALL, cop and citizen alike. It is often a dispatchers work that brings potential tragedies to happy conclusions. If ya got a good one, let them know how much you appreciate what they do.
Commentators saying he’s driving slow... they literally tell you in the academy you’re good to nobody dead. Continue playing GTA and mind your business.
Shocked at his reaction.. you’d be hopping that Patrol vehicle off those speed ramps to get to your fallen fellow officer.. like a lot of other comments he only lights up when he sees other vehicles booming by.. even then he may as well be driving miss daisy!! Would hate to be relying on this person to come to my assistance.. shame
The guys response tho...I mean, local police from my town nearly don’t have any calls, it’s a small town, less than 20.000 people, but any kind of emergency, even if it’s just to help in a traffic stop, you can hear the sirens coming and they are going with full gear down the road at speeds over 50. And this guy, “officer shot”, man...
The address for officer down doesnt come in till around 40 secs. Listen and you'll here the epic dispatcher calling out has anyone got an emergency as the button was activated but nobody spoke i guess.... Where was this cop who has speed humps every where suppose to 'rush' to exactly plus he has is constantly assesing route hence why 1 car went one way and him and car 2 turned right
Lmao yall saying officer was slow. Guess you guys didn't notice the speed bumps or having to get around the tow truck. Plus it took a little bit for a location to be given.
Did you see the conditions of the streets? That’s Illinois crumbling and falling apart. I hope to retire and get out before it implodes thanks to our crooked politicians
The video car couldn't have driven fast until he knew where to; no information was given. Great composure from dispatch, a role that is never paid enough.
Very surprised to hear them using the word 'offender' , their radios obviously suck and obviously without GPS, why not just use the word 'suspect'. I saw a previous video in the same city and there was much confusion about 'offender' vs 'officer'. But it does highlight the reality of information trickling in slowly. I was surprised to see the responding office control his adrenaline; to not drive fast. Down my street an Deputy drove 80mph going to a Chase that had multiple jurisdictions and one helicopter on it. Funny thing is I saw that officer staged 2 miles away 2-3 minutes earlier.
Is it just me or did this officer appear to not give a fuck “officer down” oh I’ll just drive 20 mph no rush. Oh look another cruiser and he has his lights on I guess I’ll turn mine on too 🤦🏻♂️😂😂
I would have thought that in this type of emergency that a senior officer would take charge. It seems to me that the dispatcher is relaying information, would not the person in charge be doing this instead to direct his resources?
The sirens you can hear is actually just an electric buzzing from the cars comms systems I think that are playing a similar frequency to the sirens or something.
Worst cop response I’ve ever seen. He literally waited until he saw other cops go in front of him before he headed that way. Wow. His license plate should read COWARD.
