Where's the money the Mayor is using for this project. When does it start. I heard all the big talk too. Solution too this problem avoid riding trains !! As CTA Encouraged Riders to come back when the cars were empty , they're disappointed homeless people increased riding trains . People make a demand where's the money for this safety project... use it towards homelessness . Because those guys who volunteered may get harmed as well . I took the rest line train a few years ago. I told myself never again. Never again will I ride a red line train in Chicago or any other for that matter. It was disgusting and I felt my life was in danger. Some guy was drinking and smoking on the train and nobody said anything he was talking near me I thought he was talking to me at first but he wasn't talking about I'll kick his ass or something. People going through train car to train car selling illicit goods. You know the type of people.
Lets face it, the animals have taken over in the city. Don't live there, work there, nor spend any money there. Find a nicer place to live, away from the danger of the city of Chicago. It is not all that anymore.
It was wrong that he was attacked but it shouldn’t take a TV host being attacked on the red line for more security to be called. There should have been more security on those trains years ago….
Through his own admission, he didn't get attacked. His phone was swiped from his hands and the assailants took off. He proceeded to chase after them and he claims to have fallen. Nowhere in his interview did he verbally say he was attacked.

I have witnessed with my own two eyes the violence on the red line. There should have already been a call for more security. It took for a TV host be robbed and/or attacked for them to shed light on this. There are numerous physical attacks and robberies etc that go on while riding CTA. If the City wasn't so segregated and if they allowed the red line to extend to the suburbs then this would have already been resolved.
No one is immune it seems. Maybe if enough famous and/or wealthy people increasingly become "victims", LAWS will change. That's the situation here in Los Angeles AND Bevery Hills. It's highly impossible for every bus, every train station and every train car to have security. All you can do is just watch what's around you and stay off your cell phones. You can only hope you won't be a victim to such crimes.
All this recent commotion is due to street crime reaching the affluent north side neighborhoods.Their crime rate is still below the rest of the city.Meanwhile the rest of the city struggles with crime as usual.
for those not from Chicago, let me explain something. The “guards” the CTA deployed do nothing. They’re not in the trains and if they are they’re on their phones. Most of the time they hang out at the entrance of the station and look more like loiterers themselves than anything else. I don’t understand why the CTA is so i’m competent at providing us residents with basic security measures and personnel.
Chicago becomes more unattractive. Trains are nasty smelly and allow people to stay and sleep its a new shelter because city keeps closing their shelters. Everything is falling apart. CTA shame on you. You could get anywhere in a train its the ride that is gut wrenching. You just hope your not the next one being jumped. They will blame low ridership and raise prices once again. This is so done on purpose.
It’s best to stay aware when out and about in the city. Chicago has always been synonymous with the criminal element in one form or another. Unfortunately. Will is a good guy it’s good to see he will be fine.

WGN this is not just started this happened to me back in the 1990s you don't have to chase a perpetrator. For bad things to happen to you. When I exited a stop on the green line train I was followed by the perpetrator a male nobody has any business putting their hands on anybody.
This story is wack af. They didn't even fight him they grabbed his phone and ran. And then he fell and injured himself. Sucks that he got his phone taken but still he and the news woman over exaggerated the whole story.

They were both sitting across the train from him, the woman grabbed his phone, They both darted out the door. He pauses and then continues to say quietly..HE proceeded to chase them, fell and injured HIMSELF . He was not physically attacked. He even admits at the end...if your phone is stolen don't go after the perpetrators...bad mistake.
