Some people have to understand when it comes down to cooking especially Mexican food, a lot of our grandparents were born and raised in the early 1900 in the United states so they learned different ways how to make Enchiladas, tostadas, menudo, frijoles de la olla etc... there is no wrong way to cook something, personally I love your cooking and keep doing what you are doing!🥰
Yes there are wrong ways of cooking dishes, lol... however, she never said this was authentic. And she clearly said it was TexMex style, which is not authentic Mexican, and more of an American way of making Mexican dishes. So long as she's not saying it's authentic Mexican food and properly labeling it as what it is, there is no issue.
There are wrong ways of cooking. Like, why would anyone want to change the real enchilada? Why would y’all wanna start baking them 🤦🏽♂️ Respect though for not calling them authentic
Marua Betanzos: You said it girl. I don't cook too much. If I cooked something and someone said this is not the way you do it I would tell the person this is how I do it and you can do it your way. Oh, and if you don't like it, just don't eat it PERIOD
You know, as long as you aren't adding the words, "authentic", "old fashioned", "original" before your recipe.... people need to get off their high horses. Besides, if they think they can do it better... start their own channels. You just keep doing you my sweet friend. 565K subscribers can't all be wrong, right?
Exactly!!! I understand tensions are running high, but there's no reason to be an asshole. Especially to someone whose helped people like me make things stretch (ration wise) and taste better.
She should be able to use all those words and more! They're authentic, old fashioned and original to her 🤗. But I got you, people can be soooooo touchy 🤪🤣😋
I like knowing which style it is to avoid confusion but it's not a snob thing, I just spent a lot of my life thinking tex mex is mexican because that is what it is often called. We had an authentic take out place for a while and it was sooo good, a total aha moment. Personally I prefer the more authentic style but it is difficult to find in a restaurant and not easy to make at home so I will make tex mex without shame but I am glad to know the difference. Keep in mind I live in Canada so that is why I didn't know for a long time.
People are so salty sometimes. I cooked 3 meals a day, 7 days a week for over 20 years (from scratch, authentic Mexican food) lol it's all authentic! Don't explain yourself - they're on your channel for a reason. I love your recipes; they are delicious and not stressful. Thank you
they must just be bored children, because who could hate on something like this! she does authentic Mexican food, too. Tex-Mex is just its own thing. those of us who grew up with it love it, generally.
No hate. This is just not enchiladas. Seeing how these look, I struggle to understand why anyone would want to make them like this and not make real enchiladas, which are amazing! No need to bake and all that unnecessary stuff Sorry not sorry
This is how I was taught how to make enchiladas. My parents are from San Benito, the Valley. I love enchiladas like this, my comfort choice of food as well.
I’m Mexican myself and have about four different authentic family enchilada recipes I follow. But I still sometimes crave Tex mex style enchiladas and your recipe is one of my favorites. Everyone has their own styles of making them, I can’t believe people still get triggered nowadays over recipes. Please never stop posting love trying out your recipes. ❤️
@espi2230 I'm a gringo but still I laugh whenever another gringo gets their panties in a twist over what is "authentic" Mexican food. And usually what they are talking about is TexMex. But God Bless you and your ancestors for giving the world your cuisine.
I loved this video. I heard the mother in you teaching us how to cook this. It was very warm, and I can tell you are down to earth. Thank you for your transparency. 💕
Growing up my mom never let us in the kitchen while she cooked because she was always in a rush lol these videos have really helped me make food from home now that I live on my own :) thank you for sharing your recipes!!! ❤️
I grew up in Texas so my style of cooking is like my mommas Texmex... love It . This is where I'm from Rio Grande Valley. For the folks that have left hateful comments...they really need to keep on moving. Love your recipes
I'm with you, I've never met an enchilada I didn't like. I grew up eating stacked enchiladas, had my first rolled enchilada when I was in my teens, and now I do all three stacked, rolled, and baked. They're all delicious.
I love your style but feel you might like to know that when making corn tortillas for my enchiladas I use a cast iron flat , with out any fat. I just let them bubble up flip and do it again. They are perfect and no oil, and hold their form and texture perfectly. Try it in your skillet without the grease , just to see. You may like it better, you may not. I will share your videos as are wonderful!
Those look so delicious ! You do not have to apologise for the minority of ignorant people on here telling you what is right and wrong. You cook however you want to, and what is comforting to your family.
All my life I’ve never been a good cook. Because of cooking videos that you and other RU-vid people put out I am learning a lot! I like your videos the best because you explain everything in detail, so thank you. I made this tonight and my family loved it!
Love all your recipes. I'm single, so I cut corners. I make my enchiladas in a skillet. I make the meat and sauce, fill the tortillas, and put them back in the skillet. Pour on the sauce and cheese. Put a lid on the skillet. Cook on low. So good. Thank you for this recipe.
Of course everyone is not a Native Texas. For those of us who are when we say Mexican Food we are really speaking of "TEX MEX" just like this recipe. Excellent! Note to self: I would add some chopped onion to the filling. I am 75 years young so taking this quarantine business to heart.
I wanted enchiladas tonight and didn’t want to go to the store. I remembered this video and had all the ingredients on hand, we loved it! Love your channel ❤️
I chose this recipe for my very first time making enchiladas. We love Mexican food. This is homemade Mexican food.... so good.Thank you for teaching me how to make this. It’s easy and delicious. I have now also made your beef enchiladas. Both are winners in my household. My husband loves these recipes. People who ask you these personal questions are just rude.... if they don’t like any of this, they don’t have to come to your site. Probably just jealous people as they probably can’t even boil water. Lol
I've made 3 different types of your enchiladas and they are ALWAYS DEVOURED by my family. I've no doubt this recipe is also a winner! I love your recipes. Keep up the great work and stay healthy. ❤❤❤❤
I made these today and followed your recipe exactly. My Wife and I both loved these enchiladas. As a Texas boy I've eaten lot's of enchiladas, and have been wanting to find a recipe to make at home. This will be added to my rotation of recipes, I'm a guy that loves to cook. I'm always looking for great recipes....so very glad I found you !!!
OMG!!! I m from Greece and I haven’t taste enchiladas before , so after so many videos of watching you I tried to made this recipe for the first time!!!! Was sooooooo delicious and really love it !!!! Good job and thank you for sharing all of this !!!
These are 100% accurate AF Tex-mex. Love that you've taught me how unbelievably easy msking enchilada sauce is. I had to shop for nothing, absolutely everything was in my pantry.
Thank you for the recipe. My grandmother used to make these exactly as you have done. The only exception was she used to put shredded lettuce in with the chicken and cheese. I think she did that to stretch them. ❤️
I'm a Midwest girl. I didn't have my first Mexican food until I was a mother of 2 in my twenties, living in California. We went to a mom and pop restaurant. Luckily Mom spoke just enough English to help me order. She suggested Chicken Enchiladas. I fell in love with them and dreamed about eating them again. Yours look delicious!
you’ve literally taught me how to cook! Thank you for making so many easy to follow videos. I’ve gotten so many compliments over great meals because of the way you break recipes down for us. Thank you!
These are the BEST chicken enchiladas I have ever had!! It’s so hard for to make chicken enchiladas flavorful without extra premade sauces but this was so perfect! My grandmother loved them!!
I believe that you are the best mexican cook on line ! Not counting a chef's I hope you know what I'm saying . I always come to you first and have made many things that you have taught us to make. You are not snobby like a lot of chef's that have channels. You have a very nice voice and explain things to us home cooks 🤗😋
Hehe I suddenly had flashbacks to making enchiladas at the restaurant I used to work at so many years ago! I need to make these this week 🧀 When I was a kid my mom would basically just stew beef cubes in tomato sauce, add curry powder and a can of French cut green beans at the end, then serve it over rice. I've learned how to make proper masala curry, but that will always be my guilty pleasure 🥰 You can't pick your comfort food 😄
I am definitely going to try this. To all the haters who say these aren't real enchiladas...aren't they supposed to be comfort food? Make them them way you are comfortable with. I, also, make them the way my mother did and still love them. Love!
They look delicious, there are no rules when cooking enchiladas. Everybody does them different. As my dad and i say, there''s no enchilada sherriff. We love your channel, and enjoy all your recipes. My grandma Ramona Villa Barela, would have loved you and your channel. She was an amazing cook, I miss her cooking. Keep up the great job, look forward to many more video's.
Wow that’s how my mom use to make them and even with hamburger meat, my mom was from Texas so they cook different from Mexico and I’m from California everyone has different methods of cooking. And I think your cooking is Awesome, I Love it. God Bless
I grew up in Falfurrias and these are real enchiladas to me! The haters need to get over it. This is TEX-MEX and of course it is different from Mexican food. FYI, I usually make the sauce your way but last time I tried the Bolner's Fiesta brand Enchilada sauce powder and was really surprised at how good it was.
The first time I made enchiladas, I made the mistake of doing everything ahead of time and refrigerating the nite before...fortunately I did soften the torts in grease before rolling...but they did break down and absorbed the sauce, lesson learned!!!😁 However, they still tasted awesome!!
Looks good, people out there need to understand that enchiladas and tamales are just a vehicle for your imagination 😁anything goes as long as its yummy
Hi SM..the enchiladas looked amazing and I bet they tasted amazing..I’m from Texas too born and raised and these are the enchiladas that my whole family have been raised on..and I too love all types of enchiladas but these by far are my favorite way to make them and eat them..so to hell with those that say these are not authentic enchiladas..it just depends on where your from and how you were raised..no big deal..all types of enchiladas from anywhere are delicious as far as I’m concerned..but these Telmex are the bomb..great simple recipe as always which is why I love your channel..stay safe and healthy. 🙏🏼
I'm making enchiladas Friday. I sat down yesterday and did a menu for the week to help meal plan through all of this. My kids are adjusting to homeschooling, they complained that their teacher shows up in jammie pants everyday LOL.

I can't believe you get hate comments, I'm just so grateful to have someone teaching me how to make it from scratch instead of having to use store bought sauces. I'm absolutely going to make your beef tortilla later this week. It looks delicious and I can't wait to try it, and have it a staple in our home, 💕

I love all your recipes and your voice is so soothing, I’ve been admiring your large mixing bowl for years and now I have the courage and the time to ask where you purchased them.
These look so good I am making them right now. Love all your recipes. Yes I am an old Mexican woman 63. Thank Goodness there is more than one way to make them. Like tortillas or hamburger....how many ways can we make a great burger. My families enchiladas depended on what we had. A little chicken sometimes homemade quesso sometimes a block, most times my mom used 1/2 flour 1/2 corn tortillas depending on what was already made. Life's good girlfriend.
I started watching your videos and I am just left in awe of how delicious everything looks. Seriously every video I watch, I wish you were cooking for me. Your family is so lucky to have you. The internet is lucky too. Thank you for sharing your craft and your gifts/talents with us. You really are doing a great job with the dishes and the videos.
Your cooking is lovely. And your voice is soothing. I hear you on the enchilada naysayers. Every cuisine will have their purists. The thing is, recipes EVOLVE. Like the original pizza from Italy isn't the same as the American version. Same with sushi and enchiladas and tacos.
OMG!!! My favorite of your recipes of all time!! Thanks so much for being real and keeping your recipes simple. I can almost taste them. Much love from your neighbor from High Desert, SE Arizona
I was only looking for a how to cook beans recipe, now i am going to make beans and Chicken Enchiladas ;D And maybe a Creamy Cheesy Spaghetti Bake tomorrow :D
Girl your almost at a million subscribers !! Who cares if your not showing yourself sometimes people just want to be comfortable at home 🤷 your videos r freaking awsome !! I NEVER GET TIRED OF SIMPLY MAMA COOKS VIDEOS ❤
There is no wrong way of making enchiladas. It's all what you like in them. It's like pizza. You don't go to a pizza restaurant and they have only one way of making pizza. I think you make absolutely fantastic recipes and helps a dodo like me, cook better. Keep up your great work. I support you.
Girl, I always make your ground beef enchiladas and they are my family’s favorite. 😊❤️ And I cant wait to make the chicken enchiladas too! And I can’t believe people would leave rude comments about your recipes?!! I love your channel! Your recipes have made it a pleasant time for me during this change in our society. Thank you. Keep em coming! Stay safe my friend! 🤟🏽❤️😊
I love your TexMex version & need to make it again. You dont need make-up to do anything. And I understand the t-shirt thing lol it's how I roll. Love the haters!!
Of course these are not like the original enchiladas we make in México, but they are also very delicious. I live across the border from Texas and I've tried enchiladas like these over there. Mmm, mmm, good! Thanks for the recipe!
Thank you for sharing this recipe ❤I love enchiladas chicken with cheese is my favorite! My late husband grew up in Texas and introduced me to bbq brisket and Mexican food I love both of them and I think with your recipe I can make them. I also saw your recipe for chili poblano peppers❤ sending blessings and love to you and your family 🙏🏻❤️🌹
Re: no selfie time: Love your honesty and candor. TY. Without even seeing you, I know you’re beautiful. Ken’s cooking tip #1: Never make bacon naked 😉😂
BUMP the folks that talk all that smack!! You're making your dishes YOUR WAY and YOUR WAY is DEEELICIOUS!! If they don't dig it, let them start their own channel and make the "AUTHENTIC" dishes they talk so much about. Keep on Cookin!! :)
Girl, you do you! We love your videos no matter what you do! All that matters is we are learning what you’re sharing. Pay no attention to the negativity. I love your recipes!
