I have prepared this for my family at least 6 times over the last month or so. They love it. Absolutely fantastic. If you haven't tried this, you are missing out. A couple of comments: Searing is a must, but not too much Red pepper flacks are GOOOOOOD! Don't skimp Don't push too hard on the layer of croutons into the sauce - they can get soggy Freshly grated Parm is always best...bagged Motz is fine Let it rest is a true must

So I was making this for the first time this evening...while it was in the oven, my wife got a call to go babysit our 10 year old nephew...who is a notoriously picky eater. As he had not eaten supper yet, I packaged up a couple portions for her to take. Allegedly, he gobbled it up. Link has been sent to his mother. Thanks, Chef.

I LOVE the way Chef John talks...The inflections in his voice, his sarcasm, and quirky jokes sets him apart from all the other food videos on RU-vid...Oh, and his food is amazing too!

he was a lot better before he basically became a meme of himself. in this video he's easy to listen to, but now he's gone overboard with his ridiculous inflections and up/down/up/down narration. you have to wear headphones just to hear what he's saying, it's so annoying

I've made this numerous times. The last time I actually cut the chicken breasts up in bite sized pieces to make it easier to serve. Tastes just add good! Thanks for all your wonderful recipes Chef John!

Grate the cheese after putting it in the freeze for like 15-20 mins! Really helps with soft cheeses!!

This is one of my favorite recipes of ALL TIME, as a matter of fact I'm making it right now! I used different cheeses, asiago and smoked mozzarella instead, plus I added basil, caramelized onions and smoked bacon to round it out. It's almost done and my mouth is watering just smelling the cheese baking. Yeeeessssssss!

I have made this twice and it just gets better. I have tried recipes from Jamie Oliver (difficult to get the ingredients) and Gordon Ramsey (just too difficult), but Chef John delivers recipes that are good and easy to make. Chef John rules.

I've been watching recipes for chicken parm and wishing there was an easier way than breading and frying the chicken. This is it! I bet if I cut the chicken into chunks first, all I'd have to do when it's done is shovel it into my mouth. This is a perfect recipe!

I cook a lot and tried this tonight. It is one of the best things I ever pulled out of the oven. I used to only eat chicken parm at restaurants but this is the new go to! So quick and easy.

I've made this recipe multiple times in the last few months, each time has been awesome. Searing is important, it adds a little bit of extra flavor. The red pepper flakes are an awesome addition. My boyfriend calls this "pizza breast" because he can never remember it's Chicken Parmesan with a twist!

Making this right now for my BFF's Birthday....Took advice for easier serving and cut chicken into pieces....In the oven now and my house smells amazing. Thank you chef John for an easier alternative but always delish from you to us!!!!

I made this dish a few yrs back using the original vid as a guide. Spectacular mid-week meal (with a side salad) with very little fuss. BAM! Dinner on the table within the hour.

Omg how tasty. I made this tonight for my daughter and I. I used a eggplant Parmesan sauce which I thought was appropriate for this dish. Shall I dare say we Enjoyed this meal with a side salad and a glass of wine.

Family favorite.....cooked tonight with cheddar cheese because that's what I had and it was still great....husband liked even better with cheddar....try it.....so good!!!!

@Isaac Ip Yes they are kinda crunchy and crispy but I still think u should add them. Before u bake it you can tap the croutons into the sauce more if u don't want it that crunchy. For the most part the croutons r pretty soft cuz of the sauce.

@Cordi666 I hate croutons also but made this dish tonight with them anyway because I trust Chef John (as we all should) and they actually work really well. They soak up the tomato sauce and the top stays dry with cheese so they end up being like a chewy piece of bread rather than just a dry boring crouton. Don't skip out on them, you'll really miss out if you do.

I have a 'Chef John' playlist and every night I add 3 videos to it so I can listen to recipes as I fall asleep and maybe subconsciously remember the techniques. Although things like recipe and bonsai videos are relaxing and help me fall asleep.

@twosocks1976 Buy the 5-ounce foil pouch in the Produce dept. ~80mg Sodium/serving (2Tabs/7grams). Or use a low-Sodium sauce to balance the saltiness. I am pretty picky about Garlic, so I just halved 3 cloves and placed one underneath each piece of chicken. The more times you cut garlic, the stronger the garlic flavor becomes. If you leave the garlic in big pieces (like just bashing it to remove skin), you get a mellow garlic flavor.

I've made this a few times this year. It's a great 1 dish recipe, cheap and easy to make and very nice. I haven't tried browning them first. I'll give that a go next time. I use a cheap packet of those mini toasts and crumble them up. Works well.

@a7lam131 just cut some toast or white bread down and bake it in a pan or oven wih olive oil until crisp. You can also take some garlic and rub it on the bread before cutting it into small pieces. Very easy to do!

Tried this recipe last night and it's terrific. Make sure you bake it in a larger casserole dish so there's plenty of room for sauce, in case you want to pair it with pasta.

I've been wanting to try this recipe for a long time. Finally made it last night, cutting the ingredients in half as I was just cooking for myself and my sister, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. This will definitely become a frequently-featured dish on our table, though I think next time I'll season the chicken with some Italian seasoning and garlic powder along with salt and pepper. @kebubas Oh, I know. The time it takes to get food to the correct temperature doesn't differ, really, depending on how much you make...it only varies based on what you're making. :)

I made this last night, with home-made croutons, and both my husband and I loved it! My marinara sauce was not as thick as desired, because I accidentally added too much olive oil, but the dish came out great none the less. This is a great channel and I have found many more recipes I will be trying in the near future :)

Cooked this recipe and it was VERY DELICIOSO - Though I am lactose intolerant (and I ended up paying for it later) I enjoyed this meal, served it with a side of small fried potato cubes. Keep them coming Chef John... Chef Sam and his entire family thanks you (Not a chef but by golly you are turning me into one!! :-)~~~~

I worked in a local pizza restaurant for 2 years and in that time I learned one thing that I have kept with me, 30 to 45 minutes in the freezer make fresh mozzarella super easy to grate. also a giant machine that grates 5 pound blocks of cheese in less than 10 seconds helps

@thomja1 Panko is from Japan. Lots of people say they can't find it in the USA either, but they can. If you have an asian isle at the grocery store or anywhere they sell things for japanese foods. It's not a very exotic ingredient nowadays.

Someone made a comment a while back regarding soul food and I stated my grandmother and her sisters lived to be 100 years of age and were excellent cooks and they never used measurements because they did not have too. Some things were innate. And because I cook soul food, I was going to take some of chef John's recipes and put my spin on it.

I love this guy, I love this channel, and I will always be a subscriber. That being said, it just seems like chef John's weakness is always gonna b Italian food.
