Chances are there has never been any chicken hauled by these trucks. But since they're all tricked out in lights and chrome. They get called "Chicken Trucks".
Oh your so right about that..but them chicken trucks & large cars & that 1000 miles a day is what truckin used to be all about..I remember the day my boss told us that if we couldn;t run at least 1300 mile a day, we wasn't no truckers..but there was dayswe ran even 1500....only stop for fuel & thats it...heck me & hubby never even stopped to switch drivers..guess its good that I took that early retirement, but sure miss my big Pete...& I'll always miss it..
you aint truckin till you blow the damned doors off a low and slow chicken ride lol. I had a bull rack take my doors off one time out in Nebraska (I believe) I had a 12 foot wide crawler crane on headed for brooklyn and he come by me so quick I didnt even see what color the truck was :)
Shoulda been titled- ROOSTER CRUISING ! None the less , still got the attitude . Few of the old timers around or the characters still cruising. Sure miss those days -good or bad !!!😎😎👍 👉Call me "Grim Reaper"👈
@mr7thDay oh i completely agree, my comment may have seemed like i was on the opposite side. the panty waste thing, had me a little confused and chuckling. as for the government comment, drivers get hard times form government officials like state highway patrol frequently. they had regulated trucking in the 80's (i believe. this being the birth of the cabover to pull longer trailer). i completely understand what you mean. thanks for being a truck driver, America needs you!
one of these days, the truckers are gonna get tired of all the bullshit and the mistreatment that they deal with on a daily basis.. and their gonna shut off their engines and just sit, and its gonna cause hell, and dammit i hope in alive too see it if it ever happens
The difference between a big truck and a large car.........big trucks changes gears and large car changes lanes. I drove for 25 years and at first i had a blast! Last 10 - 12 yrs it sucked. I had a cabover freightliner 110 inch inside cab 1692cat with a 13 double over with 373 rears, never did find the top end of it (PS) before you say anything a 1692 was a cat engine a 1693 was a detroit engine)
most of the drivers out here to day dont have a clue as to what a real chicken truck is,,or a large kar,,,dont know what deep reduction is,,dont have a clue what a rail trailer is,,or a 5&4 ,,most cant do a 1000 mile day, straight,,and if they could they would be too worried about getting caught,,,they just dont know how to do the math,,gotta keep that left door,,,closed
@whatchagondo45 let me clarify. When I say tree huggers and panty waste leaders are trying to end trucking, Im saying the freedom and respect that truckers used to enjoy ie. "the old ways of trucking" are being vanished and took away.I am a twenty year driver the son of a truck driver and a true blue American.
i had to laugh when i heard the part about the bucket of kentucky fried chicen on the dash board when i was a kid in the 70,s before the big power of today when my dad loaded produce it was fuel up ice up and a bucket of kfc , florida to boston that is what we ate and i threw the chicken bones out the window of the 73 astro trucking was so different then
if a 1693 is a detroit you dont know anything about trucks.I had a 1974 pete with a 1693 475 hp and it was yellow not green. Detroit never had a yellow motor or anything that would come close to a cat !
I remember John Anderson performing this song originally. I seen him in concert in the early or mid 80's doing this song and it had just been recorded by him.
