This is superb news, tax issues aside. Hopefully this helps Cody, not just in getting great content out, but also for his sake. One of the greatest RU-vidrs I've known and he's been struggling for a long time.
If he's looking for ideas on how to spend that money quickly before the Tax Man comes knocking.. I hope he buys a small used tractor. Seeing how he does everything alone a tractor will increase his work potential. Plus you can buy all different kinds of attachments that can help him with all his different plans for the base.
I seriously don’t know why he doesn’t have a patreon or make it more obvious if he does. Dude deserves to make bank from this, you know he’d put it all back into his amazing mad scientist antics.
@@Rainersherwood He's been on patreon for years, and has shouted it out many times, including in this video. But I get if you didn't notice because so many people shout those things out, it kind of gets washed out for me.
The vascular resistance to flow through a pipe varies with the 4th power of the radius. A pipe with twice the diameter has 94% less vascular resistance.
@@Nderak The even neater thing is you can actually look it up! If you google ""vascular resistance trough a pipe" you'll find poiseuille's law. If you google the formula for that law you'll find that it's a term devided by pi * a radius to the power of 4! Which means if the radius is small the resistance is "something" devided by pi*something small to the power of 4. Which leaves you with a large portion of that original something, which means a lot of resistance. So the larger the radius, the more you devide the something, and exponentially at that. You just gotta know about the law in the first place I guess.
I dunno, Google's only a 3 trillion dollar company. This might cripple them LOL. smh, how they can demonitize a video and still advertize on it is just plain satanic.
You might want to consider building small check dams across the washes that run through your property. They will slow down waterflow when it rains and allow more time for it to soak into the soil. That would help the surrounding vegetation recover from the drought and encourage new growth.
I do really hope he eventually implements some permaculture to CHB. It could become an oasis in the desert with some really cheap and basic techniques.
yea stacking up rocks to create a permeable but slowed down section in many places will keep the water there for longer and allow it to soak into the soil more, as well as trapping sediment. i saw a video on someone who did that for many years and kept that area of land far lusher than nearby land.
buying a shed for your materials so they don't get wet would be good, maybe an atv to survey your property, also would be cool to turn one of the tanks into a water tower to take full pressure showers, and maybe make an outdoor shower.
He's far more likely to build or even convert yet another tank into a storage shed. He could also place a fresh water tank higher on the hill to deliver the pressure, with a low load water pump to top it off. Far safer than building any sort of structure to hold a tank.
Dude so stoked to hear you’ve been paid I’ve watched you for years man and you’ve deserved every dime. Thanks for just being yourself and doing what you find interesting. Such a thing is rare these days. 🧙🏼♂️
BTW, you need to clean under the intake manifold, they love to stuff every nook and cranny on the engine bay. You don't want an oil fire to accidentally happen.
I am so happy Cody is working with google again!! Congrats! Seek finical council if you must. 3 years of back pay seems like a unique situation for sure.
What he spends on his business now can be written off for 3 years. So if he spends 100k and only owed 30k in taxes, he can use the remaining write off money of 70k the next year and the next. I hope he has fun spending!
Cody, You have been the only one who can explain chemistry to where I can understand it. How about a teaching series for us idiot chemists. I am lower than a newbie.
*You should invite Joey Santore (from Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't) to check out the plants at ChickenHole Base. That would make an awesome collab video.*
I am so so sooooo happy to hear that google has finally paid you. NO ONE deserves this more than you Cody, I truly hope you never have to go through anything like that again. Thank you so much for still uploading these videos.
From European perspective where the personal income tax rate is around 35-55% it always surprised me that in US you complain so much that your taxes are high when you only pay around 25%, lol.
Yes! Arizona has a bunch of irrigation canals that acts as dams. They pool water coming off the hills and create a green belt in the desert of Arizona.
I was gonna say the same thing. Slow it, spread it, sink it! There would be a lot more abundance of food for those bees, and non-edible material to feed to those mushrooms.
That Honda just straigh up starting after just three turns while being covered in poo, leaves, dirt and probably chewed up in some places is just something else Three cheers to my favourite mad sciencists with Disney Princess powers for being again paid by youtube!
@@IvanOoze1990 I really thought the comment I replied to said just "crazy content" and now I realize my reply doesn't make any sense. I had a few glasses before though.
I always forgot this content was Cody without even reimbursement! I'm so glad Google finally got their crap together and compensated you! Can't wait to see the aftermath of the spending spree!
I felt that sigh at 18:00 . You’re one of the most talented content creators ever on the platform dude. I think you’re a genius. The idea of taking waste products from vegetation and converting them into useful protein… it’s like a life lesson lmao. Congratulations, you well and truly deserve it.
10:34 "Gonna have to get the C.A.T. over here to help with that" LOL! For like a whole 3 seconds I was like, huh-- that sounds expensive to get a company to-- then it dawned on me
Seeing that rain come down in Nevada is beautiful! It's not quite a desert where I live, but it is pretty dry. Hopefully that rainwater got used well by people.
I've been watching this channel for about a decade!!! SO happy your finally getting some well deserved pay for all these years of hard work and time spent!!!!!
As if a new CHB video wasn't good news enough! I'm so happy to hear that Cody is finally getting what he's owed. It's years too late, but better late than never.
Congrats on getting your money -- you deserved it! I think a compact utility tractor would be SUPER handy to have around ChickenHole Base and help out a lot with the heavy lifting and moving. I have one and it's really helpful. If you do go down this route, I'd say the most useful attachments are: 1. Front end loader with bucket (teeth on the bucket make a big difference) 2. Pallet forks 3. Brush hog 4. Grader blade 5. Ballast box
I am absolutely stoked to see some more content in the coming months. It has been a long and hard struggle for you to finally get paid. I am inspired by your passion and dedication to your viewers.
I love Sphinx Moths. The first time I saw one, I was confused by the weird looking hummingbirds. Glad you are finally getting paid. Maybe it's time for the chickenhole observatory to become a reality!
So happy to hear about you're finally getting what you worked so hard for! Hope you buy an excavator. It would help to lift heavy items and digging ditches for tunnels.
Oh man, Cody that is great that you're finally getting paid. I love your content. I love all the projects you keep juggling in this series as well as all the one-of videos.
That truck is beautiful. Growing up my Dad had a 96 F250 Lariat with the 7.5L. I remember trying to drive it and it would light up the tires in every gear, even though it was bone stock.
I second the other comments about check dams to slow runoff. I also heartily endorse the comments recommending the purchase of an excavator, although I strongly suggest that you choose a tracked skid steer with interchangeable attachments, such as a bulldozer blade, vertical auger, backhoe bucket, etc. There's a company called Titan Attachments with an astonishing variety of useful attachments. You could place a fresh water IBC container high up on the hill over your hab complex to provide moderate water pressure, with one or more low-power pumps to fill it back up. To properly store supplies, materials, etc. another large poly tank could be outfitted with shelving, thereby establishing a storage/utility hab. Finally, @theCodyReeder , every one of us admires your persistence, tenacity, can-do mentality, and good-natured cheerfulness.
I love your authenticity, Cody. Never change. I’ve been a patreon for a bit over a year I think (and a YT subscriber for many years) and it’s only been $10 a month, but it has always made me happy knowing I’ve been able to help you with your necessities and projects over this time. I hardly ever check patreon for your bonus videos and I don’t have much time to watch your YT videos, but seeing the email that patreon has paid you my subscription always makes me feel good. I’m so glad YT has reinstated your earnings, I look forward to what is to come and your enthusiasm, as with every video, excites me. Your desires for sustainability has been an inspiration since being in high school. Thank you for being yourself.
I learned to grow mushrooms a few years ago, and I was really stoked to see Cody did too. The leaves that fall in my yard are a resource, not the ideal substrate, but I shredvac them and my friend Pleurotus Djamor will turn it into food. :D
If you need to spend that money quick, buy gold, Cody! It's totally something related to your channel anyway. Maybe make some silly excuse like an even bigger gold foil ball or whatever just so it counts as a business expense. You can always easily liquidate the gold anyway for future videos (literally and metaphorically).
thats amazing that your shutter speed synced with the moth wings.. amazing that as a group they all have similar speeds, right down to beats per second.
Loved this video, especially seeing the native brassica plants thriving. Have you considered building some sort of swales to stop erosion from rain and encourage increased tree growth on your land?
The new greenhouse already has door-hinges! You just need to device a door on a offset hinge. Possibly with a crossbar to push it shut using the opposite "hingepoints".
You could think about making som cheque dams to capture more water on the watershed. Ancient technique for agriculture. Shaun Overton is doing it on his channel Dustups ranch
I'm so glad you finally got the RU-vid hold released! It's frustrating you have to deal with all the tax implications but it's still a huge step in the right direction. Best of luck, stay safe and sane in this dangerous and crazy but still wonderful world.
