Here's my favorite DeBarge, Chico lol with his single "Iggin' Me" from his album Long Time No See that dropped back in '97. Nia Long cameo. Enjoy the video!
This is such a cool laid back joint. When this cd came out, I was obsessed with Chico. I would play it back to back. The direction r&b went in 1997 was all good.
I agree. I heard his album years later though. I remember in 1996, Toni Tony Tone - House of Music! You're right about 1997! And I miss this kind of R&B...
What makes the video even more better is that Chico did time in prison for real, so the raw emotion of being locked up and have your woman messing around he expressed it in raw form, plus the song is bumping. 🔥🔥🔥
+bahamaboy25 yep Gringo Blanquito's can borrow it no problem... However nothing is better,PERIOD... peace. #TheBlkandTheBrown #ChicoDebarge4lifeafan #IGGINME the ending is best, but entire song i still play. always will damn i MISS REAL R N B, the REAL Hip Hop era. LUV THE ENDING: IN SLOW MOTION ...: "I'm really home... just got my papers hunnie...so,what's goin on baby, how is your life baby... It's so good to be back. You're still fine, from the day we met...."
+Xavier Sanchez My favorite part too.. yea the end. I had to listen to it even recent in my car at least 100x,past few yrs,and i will continue to do just that, remining me that my generation(born 1980s) that this "new era of bull sh-t on radio just can't compare." 90s is best era for real music i call it and my parents 1960s, and grandparents. i BARELY play today's "music" garbage most of it. 1
+Steve Jackson xavier hey sexy. yes white (isn't that gringo right?) sure they can "borrow it!" love that. lol and yep you're right on that each word and yes OUR music is the best always, no competition. Bahama Boy and Steve love ur post. icam
+Eva Harris lol yea he said in spanish," white..." i want THIS R N B back, not todays 2000s'shi---t. i am born right during mid 90s jus turning 20. so i know today that hip hop and r&b of the "real era is gone. i hope it return one day with REAL artistry, real hip hop,and even this VIDEO better than today wack ass sh---t." "R&B" today is not good, Just not like my grandparents Temptations stuff, to 80s ,i prefer grandparents smokey, temptation, supremes etc. and 90s. more than playing todays s--t. This iis a great song, my mother still b playin it and i download it just 2 yrs ago at 18. Remind me of J-COLE hot new hit single, about how he sayin' " How we now a days, 'stuck wit' So called "Reality show dysfunctional no good chicks, like that.reality show bi--tches/chicks,and how they fake and how he wish for the"days a woman like Nia Long. Lisa Bonet etc. 80s and 90s. i agree. i don't even care for any of that. never will. THIS Is real Music to me. 1
This song is so sensual and timeless. Chico and the DeBarge family all blessed with the God given talent of amazing vocals. Thanks for all the incredible music throughout the years! 🙏🏽❤💯
I like when Chico tells El to play it for him letting u know El was in on the creation of this kick a** album. Chico, what are u and El waiting for now?
This was on his album "Long Time No See" from back in '97. Can't believe it's been 11 years already lol. I was just listening to it in the car yesterday...still sounds just as great these days.
EVERY song on this album is great, if you don't have it you need to get it. What ever happened to him, I thought he was gonna blow up this time around...
Teresa Abbott There is this wonderful interview with Deya Direct and Chico. You should check it out. It is best interview I have seen. I learned some interesting things.
It is 2020 and the family is still going through hardships with tragedy. Chico's son has passed away at the age of 35 and he was homeless. Chico is still on drugs and in and out of jail.
crows sumbolize something coming to an end..death..whether friendship or relationship..it all make sense...and the break down to me is the best..love it
Mom is black father French, but he has passed, mom is well and a very beautiful lady. They all got their talent and beauty honest. Mom sang and taught all of her children to sang as well
The abuse by their father caused a bunch of Debarge’s to be drug addicts. Sad really. Their oldest brother, Bobby, was ridiculously talented but was a drug addict. The rest of the Debarge’s followed him into drug addiction. Sad. Well not all of them but a few of them.
I am older and never cared for that hood type music, especially the song's opening, but I will admit I like the sensuality of this video. He's not foul mouthed and ignorant and lowly. He is expressing his love and disappointment in his woman. Now I have always been fans of the older Debarges, starting with Switch, and later the DeBarge group. Y all check out Bobby DeBarge in Switch singing I Wanna Be Closer. The singing is wonderful. I think they shouldn't bother to try to capture the younger crowd, just focus on the grown folks who are 40 and over. They already have a large fan base. We are dying for real musicianship. We grew with artists who sang and played instruments. Real musicianship cost, because they have to be paid, consider that when you are buying a ticket, if they come with a band. Also their is an Unsung on them.
tHEM 2 TOGETHER CAN MAKE SOME BEAUTIFUL BABIES CUZ BOTH OF THEM ARE FINE AS HELL !! LOL, NIA LONG THE MOST PRETTIEST BLACK WOMEN EVER! AND CHICO ....MG HE IS JUST SO FINE!! I LOVE THIS ALBUM - USED TO LISTEN TO IT 24/7 !!
So underrated. This was the CD right her Long time no see. I wish him well and make a nice come back . His music is missin, its real, raw, sexy, and soulful.
You're welcome, vinnyblaq! :) Yeah that remix was hot...that's one of my favorites of his. Chico and Joe's collaborations are always tight. "Any Other Night" from the Hav Plenty soundtrack was nice too. And I can't believe how old this song is either...time is flying!
This whole album was great! If you never listened to it, I highly recommend it! My husband and I fell in love as teenagers off of this album. Thanks for the add!!!!
