So dissolve the police department and give the resources to the sheriff to take over.

$50,000/yr not enough? There are combat veterans that make less.

If they have just started their career as police officers, they’re making closer to 40,000 which is still a living wage, especially considering all the overtime and all of that that they get in benefits and incentives 50,000 is lowballing it because at 10 years they’re making 60,000+ bonuses and incentives the reality is these people have become excessively greedy that town is not so big that they should justify $70,000 salaries it makes more sense to dissolve the department and invest those funds elsewhere

When sworn LEOs decide to turn their back on the community that they have agreed to be paid to work for - they should never be trusted to faithfully perform their duties ever again. So, that city should fire them all, and contract with the county sheriff for proper LEO service.

These officers also took the job willingly. Nobody forced them to work there... they aren't hostages... they saw a surplus and want their piece of the pie. Greedy... I'd let them all go and clean house.

They agreed to and signed a contract for said amount of money. They can’t do anything til it’s time for negotiations towards the new contract.

Defund them. Can't protect and serve then they don't need to have funding.

If you're going to be a cop be a cop don't be a crybaby and go on strike what does that prove nothing other than the fact that you are either a bunch of babies or be a bunch of tyrants

“Risk their lives every day” in a small town? Nah. You don’t actually do any real work so you don’t deserve a giant check, simple as that.
@100tghost7

That’s absolute bs. Simply sporting the name police on your vest is a big target on you. This job is dangerous no matter where you are. I challenge you to come do it. Then tell me how much real work you don’t do.

@@100tghost7the average LEO never fires his service pistol once in the line of duty during his entire career.

@@J0HN_3_16 what about all the officers that weren’t able to get a shot off? The ones that were ambushed, the ones that were run over, the ones that were t boned? Just because they didn’t fire their guns doesn’t mean they were never in danger. Your argument is flawed.

@@100tghost7 I am afraid you have been watching top many movies. LEOs wait to engage suspects until they have a numerical advantage. In 2022 only 118 LEOs died while on duty in 2022, primarily in auto accidents. There are almost one million LEOs in America. A LEO has about a 1 in 10,000 chance of dying from all causes. Your chance of being struck by lightning during your lifetime is approximately 1 in 15,000.

@@100tghost7 LEOs almost always wait until they have both a numerical advantage and a firepower advantage before assaulting citizens. There are almost one million LEOs in America. In 2022 118 LEOs died on duty, the majority in car accidents. That works out to almost one officer death from all causes per 10,000 officers. Your chance of being struck by lightning in your lifetime is 1 in 15,000.
