Right from my childhood I love his music ( Baba Commander) by the grace of God Almighty I am sixty years old now.... long life baba and humble self and all of us in Jesus mighty name
When I was young, my parents used to play Obey’s songs in the house. I hated the songs then. However today in my 40’s, I appreciate the songs now. I feel like my late parents are speaking to me when I listen to obey’s songs. His philosophical words pierce through my soul. We need to celebrate this man while he is alive not when he is gone.
Of course at young age when ur parents were playing these kind of music what do u know and how would u have understand the means? Now u have grown to become a man and life has touched some how. So now u know why jr parents were banging this song up and down the house. Wanna get rich? Just DO NOT BE LAAAAAZY!!!!

Obey remains one of the greatest composers among Nigerian contemporary artistes . He has been around since 60s and his contribution to the music industry in terms heavy percussion and philosophical lyrics and ballads is unmatched. This Akin Olugbade album is one of the many testimonies of his brilliance and mastery of the trade of music.

Ebenezer Obey's songs are ecclesiastically uplifting. You simply forget your sorrows. They are songs that capture the very essence of our contemporary world. He is a god-send. I grew up listening to his music in the early 700 and I am eternally grateful to God for blessing Nigeria and the world with such a talented musician and priest from Africa. I think we should be hugely proud of him - Mohammed Bello, non-practising lawyer and broadcaster.
