Also, although the predictions made by chiefs players are arrogant, I think they are somewhat warranted as for the past 4 years they have been one of the top 4 teams in the NFL.

But don't get cocky, and do the sane thing chiefs fans did with Mahomes: overhype him, and embarress the fan-base because they got too cocky, and hopefully he doesn't make the same mistake Patrick did, marry a person who made your fan-base look stupid. But GG guys! Joey ain't no Brady, but he (so far In his career) might be Bradshaw material.

Randall Cunningham was the first glorified "hybrid" quarterback, caught teams off guard but through the lens of "winning" metrics did not deliver; had a resurgence late in his career (with the Vikings) and was more productive then when he was simply a pocket QB. It's amazing how short term our collective memory is.

Happy for Bengals fans but please give the Bengals defense their flowers. Joe Burrow didn’t lead them to SB. Lazy take saying so. It was Bengals defense that clamped down and won them the last 2 games. Quit crowning Burrow, it was all his defense. Burrow is a really good QB no denying that, but he wasn’t great these last 2 games. It was 100% due to Bengals defense.

They're pretty similar quarterbacks in terms of how they play, and their careers are off to similar starts. Go look at Romo's excellent 2007 season (second year as a starter). Romo comparisons aren't meant to be a bad thing imo. At least for me

No it's also on Andy Reid. Reid has not taught Mahomes to take what defense gives him and play small ball instead of hero ball. 2. Andy went for 7 points at the end of the first half instead of taking 3. It's also Andy that didn't adjust when Cincy's D had clearly adjusted to their first half game plan

Mahomes wanted to go for the 7, and Reid let him. Reid in nature isn't a particularly aggressive coach but if his QB wants to go for the points, you gotta put your trust in him.

Such as when the Bills scored against the Patriots in their last meeting in the regular season and early against the Chiefs a week ago,Allen wanted to go for it and went for it on 4th and goal and scored tds. However,you have a 21-10 advantage right before half-time and I'd think,with receiving the second half kick off,Allen and the Bills would've kicked the fg for a 24-10 lead going into the half. Mahomes tries to do too much,too many times.

Bengals Defense has played GREAT in the playoffs. Over 3 AFC playoff games, the Bengals have faced 18 possessions IN THE 2ND HALF by the Raiders/Titans/Chiefs. On those 18 possessions in the 2nd Half, they have allowed 19 points. NINETEEN POINTS. That's four FG's and one TD, which was when Burrow threw a pick to the Titans and they got the ball on the Bengals 27 yardline. AJ Brown made a ridiculous catch near the right pylon on a 2nd and 16 or so for a TD. Otherwise the Bengals Defense has not allowed a TD in the 2nd Half during the playoffs. Incredible run. They have their work cut out for them against the Rams, but their players and coaches have done a wonderful job adjusting after halftime. This is coming from a Ravens fan/pseudo analyst, but the Bengals deserve RESPECT, particularly their Defense.

The thing is Mahomes is better than Rodgers by a significant margin in the playoffs. Nothing is ever promised but he’s got the best chance to win multiple. The talent in the AFC has caught up though, so let’s see who truly rules this new era of football

Mahomes is unquestionably a great QB, but his reliance on raw talent over fundamentals and IQ will inevitably catch up with him from time to time. When Mahomes burst onto the scene in 2018, many people likened his unorthodox throws and miracle comebacks to vintage Favre, but there was a downside to playing like Favre and the same is becoming apparent with Mahomes.

Patrick mahomes top 5 qb of all time easily best ever him and rodgers next to each other in my opinion(we all know Brady is the goat) but I’m talking the full package mahomes is that guy. This is his 4th year technically and he has been to 4 straight afc championship games and has a ring and mvp and Super Bowl mvp when you look at mahomes he is a fearless gunslinger just amazing to watch when you look at him play you just think football. Now my question to you is has Brady won every single championship game he played in? Was Payton manning Aaron drew Bree’s all these all time great quarterbacks what was they doing in year 4? Was they going on 4 championship game In the row? No win some you lose some but mahomes wins most of the time he will be back we leave in what have you done for me lately society’ when people forget last week he played in one of the greatest games ever and played flawlessly.

The only generational talent is that Bengals defense playing lights out and defensive coordinator out coaching Chiefs coaches. Kudos to Bengals fans but everyone giving all the credit to Burrow is so unfair to the defense because they actually won the game. Burrow had an NFL average game, nothing special. It was all defense.

@@ceezb5629 it wasn't all his defense but you are right the defense is a huge part of them making it to the SB. I don't think he is the best ever or anything but I do think he is great. The Bengals have sucked for many years, they would never be in the SB if they drafted anyone else in the past 3 years. I do agree all the media hype is over blown. 2 days ago all they talked about was Allen and Mahomes. Now they quickly drop off but I've been a Burrow fan since he dominated at LSU. He was underrated by most experts now he's over rated at this point anyway. He still has a long way to go.

@@ceezb5629, if Lawrence was generational talent Burrow definitely was too. Burrow's senior year, he had an undefeated season, broke the TD in a season record, crushed the SEC yards passing in a season record, broke completion percentage record, won the Heisman, won the national championship, won the national championship game MVP and a lot of other records. He basically had the best college season ever. When Lawrence came out it was said he was a generational talent. When Burrow and Lawrence played each other in the championship Burrow won and threw for 463 yards 5TDs. Lawrence threw for 234 had 0TDs. Burrow was better. I'm not saying Burrow is better or worse than mahomes but he's a great QB since he was on the Bengals and never got on national TV as a pro till now. Now everyone is seeing he's good. He also threw for 526 yard in a game this year that's 4th all time, in the history of the NFL.

Chiefs got greedy at the end of the first half. They thought they could put them away right there with a TD. But common sense says kick the FG and you’re up 3 touchdowns. Do the math……there’s only so many possessions in a half. You would literally have been a lone second half FG away from sealing the deal. The mistake was giving the Bengals hope……..Andy Reid should have save Mahomes from himself at the end of the first half!

And you know, a lot of it isn't on the Chiefs. Pat Mahomes is a great talent, and he seems like a genuinely good guy as well (as for his brother and girlfriend, well....). And Andy Reid's a good guy, too. Sometimes it's the damn media. They can just fawn and slobber all over a player or a team until it gets on your last nerve, and you do want them to lose. ESPN ruins just about anything they touch.

Gracialon Ignasiver Brady put up 13 points in the second half and one pick with little time left on the clock when they were already likely going to lose, compared to Mahomes 3 points and 2 picks in critical moments.

Agreed. Mahomes deserve some blame, but you also have to put it on coaching as well. Mahomes is not a 35+ year old QB with 15+ years of game experience. Why didn't Reid and Bieniemy call run plays? If they did and Mahomes checks out of it, then you can put it all on Mahomes, but I don't think that's the case. Chiefs never made the adjustments, when Bengals rush 3. Where are the quick throws and screens or just hand off the ball on 1st and 2nd downs for the quick 4 to 5 yard gains?

As Burrow fan I'll say this: they are a good team with some very talented players. However, that o line and the 1st half defense were a liability going in and the Chiefs objectively threw the game away when they had the lead. It doesn't mean cincy doesn't deserve credit for capitalizing, but I think it's completely fair to say the outcome of the game was decided by Mahomes' bad play

The Bengals played nearly ideal foot all for a half and it took ot to win. Same thing with thrills only the lost. The chiefs have not maximized who they are yet.

Underneath all the hype, he'll be 27 years old coming off a year where he threw SIXTEEN interceptions, and despite having a Hall Of Fame coach/ tight end/ and likely receiver in Tyreek Hill the last several years, Mahomes remains stuck on 1 Super Bowl win. If an all-world offense while he's young and athletic is only good for 1 ring, there's no guarantee he'll ever get a 2nd ring as the offense ages and Mahomes ages. Andy has to switch up his offensive strategy; he might be too stubborn to trust his running backs. Mahommes needs to get with a great QB coach and work on his footwork and throwing mechanics in the off-season to help elevate his game in the near future. Even TB12 was humbled enough to tweak his throwing motion later on in his career.

I get really annoyed by the media who have obviously pre written their script about Mahomes. Any time he makes a play they all talk about how that's what Mahomes does, you can't stop him, that's what Mahomes does... Until he doesn't. Then they all sit there with their without a clue what to say. Even Romo, and I think he's the best announcer in the game, does the same thing. And it's not because he doesn't understand the game and know what he's seeing. But even he has a script written for the "unstoppable Mahomes" and jumps right into it at every opportunity. And he never gets off of it. He just waits and waits and when Mahomes doesn't turn it on, doesn't flip the switch, he's left there with nothing to say. Mahomes is great. I'd take him as my team's QB in a heartbeat. But my team doesn't have Brady, Allen, Stafford, or Burrow as it's QB. Mahomes is just, as it's always been as long as I've been watching the NFL, one of a handful of guys who are better than all the other QBs. He's not the clear cut #1 at his position though.

Mahomes will be great for the next 5 - 6 years; then, he'll be ordinary & out of the league sooner than you think. His game is too dependent on his physical skills, which will diminish. Mahomes is young and very intelligent he will learn and we will continue to see his progression and learning curve to being better. To a certain extent we have already seen his ability to adapt and learn with turning his play around to get them to the playoffs this year! He will be fine.
