That's part of it. Bust mostly it's just biased perception. Everyone is more sensitive to close calls that go against the team they are rooting, and everyone is always rooting for the teams that play the Chiefs because they are tired of seeing the Chiefs win. The Patriots experienced the same phenomenon.

On Paecho's final catch in OT, he clearly got a 1st down, but the ref moved the ball back a half yard. Didn't matter since Mahomes took care of it, but i thought the nfl had a sky judge now to fix these issues. I mean, the sky judge seemed to be used early in the season, and now it's nonexistent.

The Chiefs were getting bad spots for a majority of the game. The intentional grounding call on the pass that landed close to Watson was utter bullcrap. The script was written for the 49ers, but the Chiefs overcame. Bill and the replay crew were on cruise control all game long.

There were several bad spots and I was surprised Andy didn't challenge any of them. I think the worst one was in OT when it can't be challenged anyway. I mean it forced the Chiefs to run a 4 yard play for the first down and eat up at least 20 seconds off the clock. That extra 20 seconds would have allowed the Chiefs to run another play when they were down on the goal line and score a TD rather than kick a FG to tie and go into OT. So yeah!!! It was a huge mistake by the officials.

I’m constantly frustrated when the refs spot the balls where the players knee hits when the ball is clearly farther upfield due to player leaning or laid out horizontally. It’s a tough job and they do fairly good but close to the sticks is so critical they could do a better job
@joannmontfordmorris8008
@joannmontfordmorris8008 5 месяцев назад
The problem with the bad spot is it cost the Chiefs tine. I believe they kicked the Field Goal to tie the game because they ran out of time. How much time did they use getting a second first down? Could they have made a second throw to the End zone and won the game in regulation? But the Chiefs was victimized by a few bad spots. Not Good!

@RobertReital
@RobertReital 5 месяцев назад
@@BobungaShamunga I think the argument comes form the fact that there was nothing happening for the first 3 quarters of the game really. They want to see games that are 41-42 after 3 quarters. This game was never going to be that. Both defenses were top 5 all year. And they were top 5 scoring defenses. When you have 2 elite defenses and 2 offenses that arent then what you get is a low scoring slugfest. A grind it out game. A game where special teams matters more than anything because of field position. But to the average fan of modern football, thats boring

I honestly think they tried to alter it with officiating for the 9ers because there were more than one bad spots. Pop had an obvious 1st down in OT and the official shorted him. Taking it to 3rd and 1 Thankfully the GOAT over came it when he ran it up the middle for the first down. On the Valdez-Scantling reception, the zebras didn't award him yardage gained after he caught the ball, they marked him down after the 49ers defenders wrestled him backwards for 8 more yards. The officiating as far as marking the ball after plays was horrible all game long.

Then you have that ticky tack defensive holding on the niners first drive in OT on 3rd and a mile, when you they let them play the whole night on the outside?

I will be honest, I wasn't really cheering for either team, I felt they both deserved to win the game as two of the best teams this year. But maybe I heard Romo incorrectly, but I thought at one point he stated that McCaffrey shouldn't have gotten the TD because there was an illegal man downfield, and then he was shut-up pretty quickly and they never revisited the comment. It was a little weird. I still believe they need the "ref-in-the-sky" which means we get someone calling down to the field with penalties that are not called and picking up penalties that aren't correct. Just my two cents.

Yeah, it was noticeable, Pacheco would get 4 yards on a carry. The Referee's would move it back 1 yard. At least 3 to 4 times. Look, the Referee's need to come out from underneath the umbrella of the NFL and the Cartel of Rodger Modelle. And be an independent organization. Or you might as well call it the WWENFL where flying lariat and the people's elbow is legal too. I'm just saying.

I think they need to bring the referees in. Make them full time employees instead of part time. That's really the biggest problem. None of these people do this as their profession. The most famous I guess, Ed Hochuli was a lawyer full time. Put a year round training program together. Maybe sign a deal with the spring leagues. Paying them more will reduce the possibility of any officials being on the take too. Bad enough that we don't know if the officials are gambling on the games too.

Looks to me like Kelce’s shin or knee could have touched ground during the tackle - at the 34. And, none of the Chiefs players, including Kelce, were claiming a first down. Just think you need more evidence on this one (other angles) before claiming with certainty it was a bad spot. All player behaviour on the pitch suggested it wasn’t. Instead, maybe be mad at the people responsible for showing first down on the screen, when the on field markers clearly indicated 2nd down.

I think it was one of the best Super Bowls. If you like watching elite defenses do their thing, this was a doozy. It was a nail biter from start to finish for me. My butt was clinching the entire time, wondering if/when someone was going to uncork a deep play. Watching the adjustments both sides made. This was a true chess match, with some riveting miscues sprinkled in. Great football game. Beats the hell out of a 4 score blowout. I saw 2 or 3 easily noticeable bad spots in this game. The one that ended up having an impact was the one KC took the timeout on. The bad one I went "Whew" when we ended up getting the first down on. With so much money involved, IN LAS VEGAS, there is always the possibility that a player, coach, coordinator, official, etc. can be bought. This possibility has always been there and undoubtedly it has happened in the past. But "The game is rigged" is simply bullshit. There are just too many people involved to keep that secret.

I was calling this out when it happened, saying it should have been a first down. It was good that the announcer made a statement that it was second and 1, even though it was after the fact and the call was wrong. This happens multiple times every game with the Chiefs where they are routinely shorted forward progress, and their opponents are given more forward progress than earned. Go back and watch all the games for plays near a first down. The Chiefs end up with more plays a yard or less from a first down because it's known that they struggle with those plays. Just another way the NFL allows the officials to influence the game. Thankfully the Chiefs are able to overcome the bias most of time, including this one.

Happened to the Patriots against Pittsburgh- Ezekiel Elliott clearly gets a first down to seal the game, and somehow the lead official saw fit to spot the football a full yard behind where he clearly got to. Mike made intelligent comments about the gambling and problems of “conspiracy theorists” regarding officiating. I hope owners and NFL listen.

The refs had at least 3 VERY questionable spots going against KC. But either way, spotting should be something technology can handle for the game.

Well...naybe theres a reason they hesitate on "pulling the curtain back". I once knew a Vegas odds maker, and he said " its a Billion dollar industry, do you think they'd leave it up to chance?"

If you look at the blue line. Yes, but notice where the players are lined up?

The blue/yellow lines aren't official. They are to help the casuals at home follow the game.

If Top Golf can put an RFID tracker in millions of golf balls and accurately spot the location of every shot, it’s absurd that the NFL doesn’t want to “spend the money” to put technology in the ball and the down markers. The tech already exists, and it’s already cheap. There’s no excuse except head in the sand, luddite, fear of change.

There was an erroneous grounding call against Mahomes in which he was clearly outside the tackle box and there was a receiver in the area. There were several spots that went against Kansas City. Perhaps 4. There are more than the 7 uniformed officials on the field. There are more officials on the field dressed in black with headsets, and likely "eyes in the sky" who are also in on making calls. And they get it wrong way too often. I think they want the chance to control things. They want imperfection. That's why there isn't technology stepping in to make calls more accurate. Difference is, the Chiefs are now too clutch to let league incompetence or "incompetence" matter or control their destiny.

Yeah they weren’t given like 3 first downs that were clearly 1sts and 1 of them led to a punt.

the chiefs were getting terrrrible spots all game. the one where andy should've challenged and instead wasted a timeout was a terrible spot.

The Chiefs had to punt earlier in the game due to a very bad spot. If not for Patrick Mahomes refusal to lose, it could have impacted the game.

You can help the Chiefs, you can hurt the Chiefs, but you’re gonna have to deal with the Chiefs! Nah the officiating was brutal. I don’t like these all-star crews. They missed so many spots.

It's not rigged, or fixed. That implies the outcome has been predetermined. But it is nudged just a bit. A call here or there. A suspension for 3 games instead of 2, because that third game is against a conference rival. Taking away draft picks from a team for something that is generally overlooked when other teams do it. They'll sell it as "parity" but it's the league nudging outcomes for ratings, and money.

Question....the Chiefs were called for a "horse collar" in Purde which gave SF 15 yds and a first down. On the replay it was very clear that the defender never touched that portion on Purde but actually had his jersey just below and to the right. I thought it was a bad call or is that still a "horse collar"?
@bobbykiriakidis9753

No that was a horse collar. No one from chiefs including the player made a thing of it

I think they have to fix it now because of the new gambling laws. Now, because there is really big money on these games. It leads people to believe there is a lot more incentive to fix games. It has to be above reproach. Officials need to be full-time and paid right. Let meritocracy and the enginuity of American industry fix this issue. Bring a new level of transparency so that the fans and now bettors have the highest level of confidence in the game and its officiating.

If the Niners D was so great they would have shut down Mahomes in OT. Chiefs played a smart game. They let their D keep it close and didn’t take stupid chances until OT. Niners should not have been here if it was not for Dan Campbell. I am a Bronco fan and I give chiefs props. They put aside ego and play low risk smart football

Why did Patrick Mahomes 3 yard run with 1:32 left, should have been 2nd and 7 turned into an automatic 1st down ?
@hugegnarlyeyeball
@hugegnarlyeyeball 5 месяцев назад
The graphic on TV was wrong but the refs had it right. It was actually 2nd and 1 on that play after the 9 yard catch by Kelce the play before. Mahomes scrambled for 3 on 2nd and 1 and got the 1st.
