Nah need a balanced team to beat the Pats and win the Superbowl. Pats have the #1 defense in the league and a still a top 5 offense. That combination is better than the #1 offense in the league and a 20ish ranked defense.

@@htown1687 not even close. Brady is even deadlier in the playoffs than Mahomes ever will be. Gronk and Gonzales at their best it's either a tie or Gronk slightly better due to blocking and how strong he was but if someone gave Gonzales the nod I wouldn't mind either.

“They should’ve, they should’ve” Jason shut up lol Mark Ingram had 20 total touches for 135 yards and 3td..Lamar had 8 rushes for 50 and a td..clearly they came in the game with intentions on running the rock and beating KC in the trenches but when your down points and your defense isn’t slowing them up, plans change.

My Ravens did well, they took it to the Chiefs and that’s all I wanted! I would have liked the win, but as long as they made the game extremely competitive to send a message to the League and haters that the Ravens are a legitimate playoff contender! They still got some work to, but they are definitely looking good during the process!

The chiefs defense is a work in progress. It’s a new defensive coordinator, new scheme, new players, and their offense is missing Hill, Williams, and Fisher. The defense is 19th ranked so far this year, that’s already a huge improvement from what it was last year. So, give that defense another 3-4 games to gel, get Hill back, and let Mahomes continue to learn and get even better throughout the season. I believe that as long as the chiefs can get and stay healthy, they are going to be a very tough opponent come January.

Whitlock is clueless by the way. The Ravens WANTED to run the ball all game, but The Chiefs surged for 23 points in the 2nd quarter and were basically blowing The Ravens out. You can't continue to run the ball when you're down like that in the second half, there's not enough time left in the game. You need big chunks of yards through the air and The Chiefs secondary prevented that most of the game. The Ravens had 13 points going into the 4th quarter, that's a decent enough stall from a defensive perspective if you ask me.

13 points! That's exactly what i was thinking. Whitlock made it sound like Baltimore was going toe-to-toe with us all game. Ravens were outplayed, and attempted a late comeback at the end. The game wasn't as close as the score would suggest.

@@sandmang32, they were OWNED dude. It wasn't even close. Take back any play you want, they'll just get another. They put on the brakes in the second half, so it looks a little closer. And it's really petty to be mad about a receiver lining up offsides, like that affected the play (if it's even true). Ravens were just outplayed. And sadly, on both sides of the ball. Which means Lamar is just as average as we thought, when he faced an average defense instead of pure garbage. Cards almost beat them for god sake.

I think the people who are saying KC's defense still sucks are just piggy-backing off of views from last year. So far, they've held the Jags and Ravens to 13 points going into the 4th quarter, and The Raiders to 10 points for the game. Two of those games were on the road. A lot of the stats/points you're seeing accumulate vs The Chiefs are happening in garbage time when The Chiefs have already been on cruise-control since the 2nd quarter. The defense isn't perfect, but this narrative that it's still atrocious is foolish in my opinion. That offense doesn't need a top 10 defense. As long as the defense can limit the big plays and give Andy and Mahomes an extra possession or two a game, KC is easily capable of winning it all this year.

dlkc2000 you suppose to neutralize speedy WRs. you have to play bump and run . You gotta put hands on them and throw their timing off . You don’t give speedy WRs a free release . Thing is the Chiefs don't need defense as much as other teams. The Ravens need to keep you at around 24 points. The Chiefs just need to keep you under 32 points. They'll be fine. People forget they were one dumb penalty away from the Super Bowl. The Patriots haven't exactly been tested in terms of going up against any good team. We'll see how they do in the stretch where they face the Ravens, Eagles, Cowboys, Chiefs, and Texans. And lets see the Ravens show up against a team that can play defense. Right now it looks people are so eager to poke at the Chiefs that they're just overlooking the bigger weaknesses on other AFC teams.

not true. Peyton Manning led the most prolific offense we've ever seen in 2013. Set the all time record for 55 touchdowns- still got killed in the Super Bowl by an elite defense. Panthers were the same in 2015, blowing everyone out and then put to shame by the Denver defense in 2015. Brady, even for all of his greatness, has never been able to win a Super Bowl unless his defense was elite top 8 or better in least points allowed. In most cases literally #1 in least points allowed.

That was only a second down play. It's not like that was a third down play, so no I do not believe they would have won if that penalty doesn't get called because the Chiefs couldn't stop the Pats on 3rd down all game.

Two phenomenal football teams played a phenomenal game and someone had to lose it. This series will continue in January. Baltimore gets jimmy Smith back soon. He is the key to their secondary. When Jimmy locks down your 1 receiver which he always will, Humphrey can take away your second guy and Brandon Carr can eat your slot receiver for breakfast. Humphrey can take away your one but then you get gashed at the 2 because Carr isn’t fast enough like vs Kc without jimmy. That Hardman TD never happens with jimmy and marlon on the field.

Nobody claims the Chiefs are elite on defense. People were claiming the Ravens were elite on defense before Sunday. Chiefs made many stops on 3rd down and Harbaugh went for it. Chiefs defense stopped 3 2 point conversion attempts. If you watched the game it was pretty clear the Chiefs weren't too worried about Ingram running the ball, they were worried about Lamar running the ball. They're pass rush wasn't designed to collapse the pocket on Lamar, it was designed to contain him in the pocket. It worked. The secondary is much better than last year. Thornhill and Mathieu are much better safeties than Sorenson and Murray were. The CB's are improved and Claiborne hasn't played yet. The d line is much stouter with some solid veteran additions. The real weakness that I see is in the LB group. Finally, at least with Spags the opposing offense has to recognize different schemes and coverages. Everybody, including Tony Romo, knew before the snap what defense Sutton was playing.

Poor Aaron Rodgers. Before this year he was the guy the analysts kept saying was the best quarterback talent ever in the history of pro football. Are they dropping him for Mahommes now? Crazy how Whitlock is correct about defense and the 3 NFL players are not. Defense and run game are the absolute keys to winning in the playoffs and a QB who won’t make mistakes and will make big time throws is what it takes to win a Chip.

Everybody talking about there fastest receiver was out. Our best corner was out. Your not going over the top of jimmy smith and earl thomas. It’s not happening. Kansas is great and so is Baltimore. Baltimore has just as many injuries and good players out/transitioning from trades.

Whitlock is right on KC never being balanced, but I think this is the year the Chiefs claim The Bowl of Bowls, and Reid goes down as one of the great offensive minds the game's seen, but he needs the title to be so. Any unit, whether it's a defensive unit or an O-Line, they need time to gel, and learn each other's tendencies. Give it midseason, the Chiefs will be unbeatable, barring major injuries. As for the Rams 99' Superbowl team, I'm from St. Louis, that team had Lovie Smith as D-Coordinator, a Tony Dungy protege, plus some Dawgs on D-Fense... Kevin Carter, London Fletcher, Mike Jones, Todd Lyght etc;. GSOT definitely had a stout D.

KC D is more fundamentally sound than I've seen in years. They made life a lot tougher on Jackson than they're getting credit for. He threw up 2 ducks that should've been picks. That game was closer on the scoreboard than it was on the field.

What they forgot to say is my Baltimore Ravens we're missing their two of their top 3 dbs so I knew we were going to give up passing yards but with no pass rush and our offensive line playing like trash I'm surprised we put up 28 that's a very good sign for us but we'll see the Chiefs again in the playoffs

I don’t agree with Whitlock but I understand where he’s coming from. As a fellow sufferer of Chiefs PTSD (Post Traumatic Season Disorder) I too am weary of any great Chiefs team that only excels on one side of the ball. 95-All Defense- first round bye home loss to the Colts 96- All Defense- First round bye home loss to the Broncos 2003-All Offense first round bye Home loss to the Colts 2013-All Offense first round loss to the Colts 2016-All Offense first round loss to the Steelers 2017-All Offense first round loss to the Titans 2018- All Offense Conference Championship loss to the Patriots The man has a reason to be skeptical.

@@rasta20032 Some do, some dont, finding a QB doesn't define your ability to be a great coach, getting player to play at their max potential does. Reid has shown that, time and time again (a. Smith, McNabb etc..). Bill was lucky to find Brady, but he couldn't produce with Kosar. Now Andy has his guy and they are setting records, if he had Mahomes 10 years ago how many SB would he have now? We will never know but I see a few coming in the future.

This is a different Chiefs defense than last year. Maybe not in personnel but in scheme. I saw many times last year Suttons defense was pushed around and tired. I haven't seen this defense tired this year. We still give up too much but haven't been pushed around like before vs a few pretty physical teams.

Patriots all defense first 3 titles... I remember a certain Carolina Superbowl where Brady went off. 350 passing yards 3tds, and a passer rating of 100. That comeback win against the bears was impressive by Brady. Brady's always been clutch. Plus offense wasn't what it is today.

@Butch Davis I don't get it. So long as NE's D stays healthy I see no reason why the patriots can't win again. This Patriots D will try to lasso Mahomes down. He'll score some, probably 24 points. The Patriots offense can get 27. The patriots can't lose anymore offense lineman though, or receivers. If they played tomorrow I think the Pats win 27-24.

Chiefs will score, all you can do is minimize and contest some of those deep over the top and inzone throws. Belichik is good at taking away one or two of your best players. Now, the Patriots can score too and they are not one dimensional, you don't know what and how and who they are using to move that ball down the field. Brady football IQ.is outta this world, he is reading that defense pre snap, post snap in seconds and the ball is coming out fast. KC defense is going to have to be able to adjust to what the Patriots are doing. The defense coordinator has beat Brady and Bill before in Superbowls so we will see! Pats have the edge!!

The Chiefs D was doing fine until they let off the gas and there were definitely some throws that the Chiefs corners and safeties would love to play back. There was 1 desperation heave that should have been intercepted and by a miracle wasn't. The Chiefs defense is much better than last year's. The same cannot be said about the Pats or the Ravens. They are basically the same teams.

Whitlock is correct about defensive teams winning it all, while Wiley and Gonzalez are trying to refute the argument with outliers. LOL You do have to have balance, and you should be the most balanced on the DEFENSIVE end. How many times have the best offenses end up playing the best defenses, and the offense won? Hardly any.
