Been messing around on this as black, getting some good opening advantage on the clock. People aren’t super confident facing it, doesn’t beat them in opening but really gives me some advantage to know main moves and replys
The only question is : what to do against : 1.d4 d4 2.c4 Nc6 3.Nc3! ... The "normal" 3.... Nf6 or 3.... dxc4 aren't very nice so Is the Tartakower : 3... e5!? playable ? Last hope for me to dive with pleasure in the Chigorin
I just played in the Michigan Novice Championship to start developing a rating and I met Jeff Aldrich. I think him or Sal is Vice president. I could look it up but then that'd be too crazy of a comment! Anyway, great video!
Cool video! so i have a few questions RE: your chess club! Until it opens Sept 9, will you still be in St. Louis? And will you be the Resident GM in the Atl chess club after that
If I won the lottery (if I played the lottery) the first thing I would do, would be to buy a plane ticket to go take lessons from GM Ben Finegold. I wouldn't even call into my job to let them know I quit... even though I would have plenty of time on my way to Ben's chess club.
You said the two games show the difference between a professional player and an amateur player. The professional resigned in 10 moves while the amateur resigned in 15! Very suspicious. :)
Don't play the chigorin though I would rather put my opponent to sleep too. What about the old classic classical nimzo-Indian? Auto correct really doesn't like chess openings btw...
GM Finegold, I know you'll probably delete this comment, but I'll write anyway just for the hell of it. I've been watching a lot of your Saint Louis videos lately and I've remarked you saying many times when asking your class a question something like "No, nothing? Bueller" or "Anyone? Bueller?" Is that a reference to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" or was there actually a guy with the last name Bueller? I know it's a silly question but if you do respond, you'd make my day.
