Chikara Tanaka is a rising basketball star from Japan. The subject of much media attention back home, Chikara began as more of a role player at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. As he's competed against some of the best players in the United States, the 2021 prospect is starting to show his college and pro potential. He could one day represent Japan in the Olympics.

There are a lot of really good japanese basketball players now. Watanabe and Baba are playing very well in the G League. Keisei Tominaga is playing very well in the US too. Ryan Rossiter is a japanese-american who was a former NCAA All-American that became japan`s latest naturalized player. Hogland, Schaffer and Ogawa will improve japan`s height and athleticism so I`m looking forward to seeing them play together in the future.

I remember this kid cried like hell after missing the last shot vs the Philippines during the Fiba U16 asia. Many thought team japan will make the semis and go to the U17 world cup because in their country the composition of their players are considered an all star lineup, each of them are considered elite high school players from different schools. Unfortunately, they lose against the philippines which led by a kid named Kai Sotto, scoring 28 points and 21 rebounds.
