what he described as bullying didnt sound bad at all... when i was in school my mom got called slut and whore for being a single mom, got bullyed and beat up for being poor and wearing the same clothes, got made fun of because i had glasses and they would break them knowing i couldnt afford new ones then more more fun of me for not being able to read. Fame can corrupt more than just the actor. It can turn parents of child actors into harsh opportunists, like Jennette McCurdy’s mother, and considering that times back in those days were different, it makes sense why people were cool with it back then. For all we know, she probably said no until they psychologically manipulated her into taking them or blow this one shot and forever be a relic of forgotten history. Back then and even now, people would do anything for fame, and I’m not just talking about the actors.
@beboycowbop
@beboycowbop 4 месяца назад
@@willmagnuson3174 Grooming is when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them. She was 16 and quite obviously exploited and manipulated. At 16 that's still a child. Imagine being that young and being told 'take these pills and all your dreams will come true'. Yes her parents should have protected her but when you get a doctor to come around and say 'these will help her and you all will be super rich' that's manipulation. Not everyone is lucky enough to have good protective parents and even those who do aren't immune to trickery and manipulation.

Jake's story is exactly the argument against child acting. Yes, we need child actors sometimes, but we should never exploit them for these roles and they should be protected. Forcing children into fame will ruin them.

For anyone wondering what happened to Julianna Rose Mauriello (Stephanie from Lazy Town) since I don't think it was actually covered in the video despite her being in the thumbnail- Julianna felt she grew too old to be Stephanie so quit the show, especially since she was 4 years older than the character to start with anyway. She then toured the UK for a while, teaching children the importance of being healthy and active. After travelling back to the US she realised "the life of lights" wasn't for her, so she quit acting and went to college and university where she'd eventually get a masters degree. Orlando Brown’s story is sad. Not just because of his decline and drug addiction, but because even to this day, people continue to interview him and put him in front of cameras knowing that he’s gonna show up high, so that people can see him act crazy. They’re creating “entertainment” from this man’s suffering. As a former meth addict, I know how near-impossible it is to get off that evil substance. It changes your entire personality and it costs you everything, and you still won’t even care because its just ridiculously addictive. I hope this man can break free from addiction because he’s actually a very talented and funny actor.

Jake Lloyd came to my house, twice, and I didn't even realize it was him! It was about 9 or 10 years ago. Apparently, he was born here, so maybe he was visiting. My son met him (but didn't realize who he was) and brought him to the house a couple times. I feel bad because I didn't like him because my son was struggling with mental health issues and it was obvious that Jake was, too, and I was afraid it would exasperate my son's troubles so I was thinking it was best if they didn't hang out, but I was also trying very hard not to be a helicopter parent. But, he wasn't here long. It was two years later when my son sent me a side by side pic of Anakin and Jake with the caption, "Remember him?" That's when I realized freaking Anakin Skywalker was at MY house! TWICE! 😃

So here's an update for Drake Bell. He's innocent. You see on the Ultimate Drake Bell RU-vid channel there are videos where Drake tells his side of the story. Drake said he never did anything sexual or harmful to the girl and when Drake found out she was 15 he blocked her. But I like to think when she found out Drake was married at the time and had a son she wanted to get back at him and it caused her to accuse him of doing such questionable things. Drake then said if he didn't tell them his side of the story and plea guilty he wouldn't have been able to see his son Jeremy. He even said there false articles claiming he did things like sexual assault when in reality he did no such thing. Even if he did he wouldn't have been able to see his son and be sent to jail. He's currently making music on his channel and releasing a new album. Let's just hope that Drake is doing alright and maybe he'll get his life back on track

I'm disgusted about Judy Garland. They literally fed her drugs, as they did with all women in the 50's and 60's. The Rolling Stones wrote a song about this trend "Mother's Little Helper". I remember my grandmother getting hopped up on her "little helpers" and cleaning the house spotless. And then taking her "sleeping pill" before bed. It was normal and every trad housewife was subject to the regimen. Judy Garland wasn't a bad person. She was someone who unknowingly got hooked on drugs as part of her job. The movie studios have made BILLIONS of of her likeness and from her movie. They should be held accountable. It's sad to think how many mothers from that era lived their entire lives in a cycle of drug addiction prescribed by the family physician. People talk about how different minority groups were treated poorly or were duped into different scams or whatever. But I never hear how an entire generation of American women were turned into drug addicts so they could perform like robots from dusk until dawn. Judy Garland is the most famous of them because she was in the public eye. If somebody should get "reparations" it's the children who grew up in unstable households with mothers who likely had wildly fluctuating mood swings and who were quick to anger and lash out due to the amphetamines. How many women passed away early from the years of drug abuse because of the doctors who wrote out the prescriptions in the name of being a good housewife???

Very unfortunate that those who made our childhoods better were forced into these circumstances. They really deserved better and I hope that future child stars are looked out for properly. I know there are many more than those listed here that deal with similar circumstances through being too famous, too young.

As someone who is diagnosed with bipolar I, I can tell you it's so easy to spiral, especially during mania. you need support and people to ground you or you'll always go over the deep end. I've learned to never go along with my first idea during mania, it's often ended poorly. This is why I'd literally never try any drug even once, which includes prescription pain killers, cause the potential for addiction is significantly higher. I feel for Amanda Bynes.

It's even more sad when you realize that these kids never stood a chance. From an early age, they we forced into a mold of what they should be, and they're expected to fit into that mold for the rest of their lives. Then there's all the adults in power who just want to exploit them. It really doesn't surprise me that many of them turn to drugs and alcohol. I often hear that they're peer pressured into using substances by adults, sometimes even their employers.

Except in most of these cases, they're not throwing it away for nothing. More often than not it's because they have no other way to cope with all the bullshit they went through. The industry is terrible. If you want good insight to how bad it was, just with Nickelodeon alone, read I'm Glad My Mom Died. Jennette McCurdy is an excellent writer and her story alone is heartbreaking but also so many other nick stars have come out and told similar stories. Hell the Victorious cast was constantly wasted, and that was when they were underage. I will always love the shows that made my childhood but I"m more upset that there isn't enough being done to protect child stars so that they don't have to go through this, because it's not their fault that they turn out the way they do, and then all we do is fail them as children and mock them as adults.

To add to the horror, Judy was also repeatedly groped by old men who worked with her on the Oz set. Some even grabbed her still immature chest, pressing and commenting how they're growing and that she would be a pretty lady one day. It was "normal" to have producers touch actors and actresses all over because of the power they had on your career.

Honestly I blame George Lucas. It was a terrible script first of all, and this poor kid was selected to be young Anakin/Darth Vader with basically zero acting experience whatsoever. If you watch some of the casting tapes, there were other kids competing for the role and one of them in particular was just a natural at it but George was like "Well, some people test well but don't necessarily translate to performing well" -- Jake Lloyd did none of those things. Then his family pimped him out to voice act in video games as well, squeezing as much out of the situation as possible. Of course, everyone for the most part hated Episode 1 and the only character people hated more in it was Jar Jar Binks, as far as being annoying and all. I think they set the kid up for failure, then you have an entire population of disappointed fans looking for anyone and anything to blame and suddenly you find out this kid actor is suddenly your classmate. If I had a nickel for every time someone most likely mockingly asked him "Are you an angel?" I'd probably be a multi-millionaire by now.

The story of child actor Bobby Driscoll was really sad. He was the only child of his family known for being in Song of the South and for the voice and model for Peter Pan in 1953 but shortly after the release of Peter Pan, his contract with Disney expired and he was more or less blacklisted from show business due to him getting older and him having acne. This resulted in Bobby dying on March 30th, 1968. Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers had a scarily accurate parallel with Driscoll's story for the backstory of Sweet Pete.

The bullying is tragic,especially in hs and college. You would think kids would grow up, but they don't even as young adults. The parts where they were introduced to drugs at a young age,that's when the parents should have stepped in. And when they choose to keep doing the drugs after they are old enough to make those decisions, then it's on them. Hopefully they get the help they desperately need
