Not sure why they just do meet at the police station. Pretty much all of them have rooms at the station for such things. Guy doesn't want to pay 500 for support but instead will shell out several thousands for a attorney. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

@@SirNomad That can be said in all family court cases. It is also one of the reasons why I think family courts need to be brutally heavy-handed. We, the taxpayers, shouldn't have to pay the bill to figure out where to exchange the child. One thing that is good for the taxpayer, the state goes after the child support whenever a parent is collecting government benefits (TANF, EBT, Medicaid, etc.) for the child. Because again, the taxpayers should not be footing the bill with there are sufficient funds between the two parents. Based on their numbers, they bring in a total of over $70,000 a year. Taxpayers should NOT be on the hook to support a child when there is that much income.

Imagine in 10 years time his kid is watching this and he realises that his father doesn’t think he’s worth $500 mth and only wanted him so he doesn’t have to pay. Before learning that not having regular contact with his child was going to cost him money, he was more than happy to see him just 48 times a year and be a token father.

If it were me, I would be snagging this video and include it as evidence in future hearings. The one thing I want to tell ALL pro se litigants, the evidence does not exist if the court cannot see it. You can have thousands of threatening text messages, but they don't mean anything if they are not presented to the court. It isn't enough to keep the record, you have to present it.

Since child is on MEDICAID, there is NO MEDICAL costs yet, only "expected in the future" so NO order for health insurance is appropriate. In the future, if under private medical insurance at cost of parent(s), then file for modification of support order. Ref is overstepping his bounds.
This father needs to get a mental heath evaluation. And a Anger Management Counciling. I wouldn't want that volotile temprement around a young child. His temper puts that child in danger. CPS needs to pay attention to his parenting time and he would probably end up with supervised visits only at his expense if he keeps that up. That amount of child support doesn’t even cover a child’s monthly food budget anymore, he doesn’t care for his son so he’s clueless. Here he would lose his time if he’s giving half of it to his mom and he is not there while it happens. He’s having his mom keep him one of two nights each time. He just proved in this zoom meeting that he doesnt care for his kid. He'd rather sit in jail than pay child support, have it affect hos credit, license, future, etc. Which means seeing his child isnt his priority. His child isnt his priority. He cares about being in control over her, and thats it. These types of things follow you everywhere. He also just admited that he'll gladly break the law cuz he doesnt agree with court. A child shouldnt be around somebody like that. He also only mentioned filijg for full custody just because he didnt like what the cost would be in child support. Not because he cares for or wants the kid. Mom should use this video against him in further court hearings as we're bound to see more of him in the forseeable future. Cody needs all the enforcement action(s) statutes allow in his State. Of course wage garnishment, seized bank accounts, penalties & interest, tax filings allowed only through the Court, seizure & forfeitures of any and all assets, loss of Driver's Licence, ordered community service payable at $10 per hour to Mom, and the one that will really get his attention ::: Warrants for his arrest with bond amount his entire past due balance. Of course while he's in jail charge him State maximum for everyday he's incarcerated plus make him work in jail @ $8 per hour with 100% of pay forfeited to Mom. I'd love for that order to come down because every dime anyone puts in his commissary account will be directed to Mom. He couldn't buy a phone card or even a candy bar. Only visitation would be 2 hours once a week. Mr Smug would fold like a pillowcase.

A Judge outranks the referee. Referees are normally attorneys who are appointed to work under the judge and may be limited to just certain types of cases such as child support cases. After hearing all or part of a case, referees report their findings to the judge, who makes the final decision or when one of the parties decides they don't like the referee's decision, like in this case, then if he appeals the decision he will go in front of the judge instead of the referee. The thing is, the judge rarely changes the decision unless the party can show a "legal reason" that the referee got it wrong. Not liking the decision because you think it's unfair isn't going to get you far and the judge is going to use the same child support formula that the referee did. I have watched Judge Kirkham's streams before where it was nothing but people's objections to referee decisions and I'm not sure he changed ANY of them. In most people's cases, the referee hasn't made any kind of a "legal mistake" that can be argued against.
A referee is basically an arbitrator. It's not as formal as court. They're usually lawyers and don't have as much control as a judge. They report to the judge who officially finalizes whatever decision is made (or alters it if that is necessary).

Moving is not illegal, she probably did it to get away from him. Transport should be 50/50. She has custody, he can suck it. She ignored his unfounded accusations because she's a grown ass adult, unlike him.

@@DeviceAnathema moving absolutely can be a violation of the parenting plan. They typically have rules about geographical restrictions for where you can move the child to unless the parents agree to leave it open.

Not a fan of either parent here. She says he threatens her but wants him to pick up the kid at her house instead of a police station or fire dept which would make more sense. Dad will never pay for anything because he thinks he doesn't have too. Both are hateful people who care nothing about the child's wellbeing.
She feels safer at home. Exposing children to police too much can have bad consequences for them later in life, studies have shown that kids who have a lot of contact with police no matter the context are more likely to be incarcerated as adults. You're right about a fire station though, personally I'd choose a library. I do think she shouldn't meet him at her house.
What are you talking about most men paying child support can certainly go on vacation or visit family out of state with their kid without having to inform the court. Now if they moved out of state that's different, but that's no different than mom moving out of state. She didn't, she's only an hour away. He has just as much right to take the kid to Hawaii or Canada for vacation as she does.

I seen this one before, they were doing 50/50 until she moved an hour away. He was making $18 30 hours a week and Grand Rapids housing cost are ridiculous right now. I bet his rent is $1,500 a month or more and at least he was giving her money every month some don't. The court makes things difficult for fathers. Most non-custodial parents do not unalive themselves lol they move on and get a new family and completely abandon their kid except for the child support that's taken out of their paycheck because they won't willingly write a check And if they're willing to unalive their kid because they don't have custody then they really shouldn't have custody! Women can be child predators too Besides, dad turned down that week, it was his week but he didn't want it. So she could take the kid anywhere she wanted too. If dad was so concerned about predators he would have taken the kid for spring break and made sure he had kiddo every day that's in the order. Sorry ..we can't take out child out of state unless we get courts permission..so..in this case dad is right.. Ditto for mothers permission...kidnapping comes into play & many parent's refuse to return the child once they crossed state..seen to many case's!!
In my county in Michigan we only have to notify the other parent we are going out of state if it is longer than 24 hours. We do not need permission. That is in the FOC handbook so unless someone modifies it in the order that is what is followed
