God, I still don't know if that singing voice is real. Heard it on the album and was like, damn, I bet he can't top that live. Wrong. So good, at least to me.
This song is so real.I love how honest he is; he isn't afraid to be real with himself and his audience. I really like the line: My mom used to quote me Psalm verses- now she doesn't look at me like I'm the same person. So many feels!
Alot of people talk about Donalds "Last.FM. session: Heartbeat". And yes, that's dope as fuck. But this! Gosh. I don't give a fuck if his singing is clean - because his performance are 100% feel. And that makes his live perfomances SOOO much better than the album recording. (Not that the album recordings are bad, because, they also good)
thinking abt the end of Childish Gambino kind of freaks me out. like anxiety uncomfortable. it's weird - on one hand, i feel super lame for feel that way or think abt something like that, but then on the other, like why wouldn't I? there's definitely other music following people thinking the same thing. he's pretty extraordinary. innately talented.
This video is what made me be hipster and wear cardigans. Insane amount of influence in this one video. The song is FAVORITE OF ALL TIME. I remember belting it with Donald at Central Park at his concert when Royalty came out!
such great personal songwriting. say what u want about donald and his earlier work but this shit got me thru middle school and still has charm and admirable moments. this performance is awesome
I'm not digging the instrumentation on this performance. maybe it's just my speakers, but the guitar and bass seemed so quiet here that I can't even make them out until the end, and it isn't helped by the drums...
+TGuy Law The mix was a little weird, but I have really good headphones and I can here everything almost too clear. I think its just because the bass of the kick and the bass guitar are too round and deep for your speakers.
