Advertising movie about a children’s home for young German expatriates. The presented institution was located in the former German Crossen (at the river Oder), now Polish Krosno Odrzańskie. Shown is an idealized daily routine of the students in an out-of-school home conducted by the VDA "Verein für das Deutschtum im Ausland" [Association for Germanness abroad].
The association established in 1881, which had been brought into line in 1937 by the Nazis and forbidden after the war by the Allies, was founded again in 1955 in Munich. At that time the German federal government had considerable concern against this revival. Today the VDA bears the name "Verein für Deutsche Kulturbeziehungen im Ausland" ["Association of German cultural relations abroad"] and sees itself as a link between Germany and the approximately 14 million Germans living abroad.
