Headaches😊! About 25 years ago I went to a cardiologist who suggested that my body was not getting enough oxygen. I then was tested for sleep apnea. One of the symptoms is snoring. If you do snore go to your doctor and ask for a sleep apnea test! It cured my headaches right away!
It's amazing how soothing a video of two folks talking to each other and telling stories is. I love these types of videos. Thank you for sharing your conversations and life experiences.
We spent our holidays, weekends, and after school up trees, in the bush or long grass making huts or making imagination games. Swimming cycling making rafts for the river. My children did the same and now I’m thrilled to see that they encourage my grandchildren to do the same..to get them off their phones and computer games. Some of their friends have no idea how to climb a tree or make a outdoor hut. So sad.
I could not keep up with that woman, I’m on Matt’s side, he should have to work every waking moment, Tipper could go at it You sound like a work house.
I was just watching more reports on that tornado. I pray for all of their well-being and souls. We don't live too far from where that 2021 Western Kentucky tornado in 2001 hit. That was an EF4 also. It was horrible as well.
stokely418Betty I'm so scared of tornadoes too, always have been!! Lived in mobile home and camper for years,no tornado shelter! Always wanted one! I had finally bought one, and had to move!! If I'd have waited a year I could have had it and everything else I put in where I moved from. I feel for you!! Y'all have really been having them last few years!! They start in Texas then go across Oklahoma where I live, and get worse as system goes across Arkansas then worse on over Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee!!
I'm fairly new to your YT channel and I have been skipping around the channel not in any order. Thoroughly enjoying your way of life, family values, etc. One thing I want to mention is how touched I am that you folks are living on land that has been passed down from generation to generation. I live in the northeast and you hardly ever hear of that around here anymore. Really love this channel.
Well, that sure was a sweet little visit just sittin' and rockin', Tipper. The easy back and forth between you and Matt, both of you with your eyes twinkling, and the pride he takes in "his girls" always makes me want to pull up a chair and sit with you for a bit. Thank you for all the moments of gratitude and contentment you bring. I hope you two have a good, mudless week ahead.
We woke up and always wanted to go outside right away. It makes me sad that so many little kids just don’t play outside these days. Our outside time was full of adventures and learning. Be well & take care.
I love it when you "fast forward" the video when you work. Don't you wish we could really move that fast in real life, oh what we could accomplish in a day. 😅
I love moss and tiny flowers, too! My daughter and I like to look for things like that in the yard and on walks. Makes me marvel at God and I love to see the hardiness and "grit" of delicate creations. 😀
I can remember sitting outside and playing all day. Mom would have to call and call for supper. Those were good times. Love the Appalachian Life.. God Bless.. 🇺🇸🌹❤️
Y'all remind me so much of my parents true work horses. My Mom is 87 now and doesn't do any canning anymore. She stopped a few years ago but she put up 230 quarts. I have always said if I tied my leg to hers at 4am she would be dragging me by 9am. It's nice to see people living the way I grew up, you and Matt are an inspiration to us all. God bless you guys
watching you and Matt work together so well reminds me of how me and my sweet late husband worked together so well. it both soothes my soul and makes me sad at the same time. but i really enjoy watching you all. the perfect example of a great marriage and friendship. thank you
My Dad said when he was a kid, May 1 was the day they started going barefoot. He also said the first thunderstorm was “the awakening of the snakes”. What images THAT conjured up when I was little! 😂 I loved the swing set stories and the story of your Mom making your back feel better with your coat! ❤ The tornadoes were 1974. I was pregnant for my daughter. I remember it well! Prayers for those poor folks in Mississippi.
The more I watch your videos the more I realize we are all the same. Yes, some foods are different and the accents tell us where we grew up but our thoughts and work habits are just the same. Yeah for Spring!
We also played outside until we were called for. My kids too. Now that I watch my grands during the week, we stay outside until we can't. Makes for a great bedtime!☺️
My grandpaw also made us put our shoes on during a storm, and we always had to all go in the same room and set down until it passed, and be quiet, no cutting up or horsing around until it passed, I had not thought about that in years until this video ❤
I used to sit out on my front porch, watching the storms roll in off the lake. Last Sunday evening it started storming. The sound of the wind sounded like a train. I was scared so much that I was shaking. I calmed myself down, prayed, gathered a flashlight, a few other things & I put my shoes on!
I love that the more humid it is the more your hair curls. My wife used to spend a lot of time straightening her hair. It took almost 20 years to convince her that her natural state is the most beautiful look.
My Dad was one of 5 children and grew up in a small town of less than 400 people. In the summer, my grandmother would call them in for supper with a big bell that she had mounted on one of her clothesline posts. It was pretty loud and you could hear it for a long way. My dad and his siblings knew that was when they had to come home. It was still there when I was little, and she gave it to my dad when keeping up the house got too much for her and moved to an assisted living apartment.
Getting closer to planting. So exciting. I used to be terrified of thunder and lightning storms. My mama was the one that made all four of us girls really afraid of it. When she was about four years old there came a really big storm rolling in and just has my granny stuck her head out the door and told her to get on in the house, that a bad storm was coming, lightning hit the little metal tea kettle that she had been playing with outside. Granny said it knocked her so high up in the air off of the ground that she almost was at the level of the roof of the house and then she fell back to the ground. She had passed out and my granny went out and picked her up and brought her in the house and she was unconscious but still alive. Granny had the doctor come out and look at her and he pretty much said that he didn’t know if she would come out of the coma or not and he couldn’t promise her that my mama would live. My granny called the preacher from the church they attended and he came out and he prayed for my mama and the next day she started coming around and eventually was full awake. She lost all of her fingernails and big handfuls of her hair. Granny said as she got better her fingernails grew back absolutely beautiful and I remember they were always as hard as a rock. My nails were always thin and they were always breaking but not hers and her hair grew back in so thick and beautiful but she was always terrified if she even heard thunder off in the distance. She would get all of us girls and herself and we would all have to sit in the master bedroom closet until the storm was over. The only thing we liked about having a bad storm was she wouldn’t let us do the dishes after supper on a school night cause we all had to get a bath, finish our homework and go to bed. We were not allowed to be around the dog either because she said animals drew lightning. I think I was pretty much at the end of my 30s before I finally got to a point to where as long as I’m in the house I wasn’t so afraid of storms anymore. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida 😎🦩🌞🦩😎
my little mother, God bless her, married my father at age 15, had me a month after her 17th birthday, and my brother a month before her 19th birthday. needless to say, we kept her a nervous wreck. she told us that noise drew lighting. so Granny was over visiting when a storm come up, and we little boys got so quiet and hushing each other that she asked us why. we Innocently whispered to her that noise drew lighting. i'll never forget the sly look she gave Mother.
My Grandma Kirkland loved on the side of a mountain in Bryson. When there us kids played all over that mountain. We built our little houses or rooms. Food was usually cornbread, cold biscuits or batter bread, raw vegetables and whatever berries were ripe. Best days of our lives.
My grandma Reed used to say we’d catch cold if we went to bed with wet hair. She was the youngest of 7 children and they lived in the country. Living in a well built house in the city must have protected me as an adult because it happens often now!
Tipper, I get so tickled watching you and Matt, listening to y'alls stories is just the best!!! It takes me back to times when my family members would sit and visit with each other, and goodness, the stories that got told and the laughs we would have!!! You are such a wonderful story teller and you and Matt really compliment each other and that is a true blessing these days!!! Love all of your videos and hope you both slept well!!!
Getting hard jobs done is definitely easier when you have a good partner to help do the task at hand. You end up encouraging each other and the job is easier. It’s encouraging seeing couples working together.
Oh the memories of playing outside all day and coming in when it was supper time. Most kids nowadays are in the house, playing video games. How terribly sad for everything they will miss as children.
We live in town now, but are looking for a place up a holler. This kind of life is my goal. Out in the country, quiet evenings, big garden, working up a sweat and then having a popsicle and long chat with my husband.
Back in the days when Superior froze over, I jumped barefoot onto an ice float in the spring. The ice felt like needles, so I didn’t do that again. Ha. Lesson learned.
I first found you accidently with the video about the spring flowers from the old home places. So I Started watching you and then I learned about the twins and it only got better. Then Pap and granny and uncle Paul. I think Matt has a great sense of humor and says and thinks lots of funny things. I love your family. Keep on keeping on.
Well I hope Matt had a good time in the woods this weekend. My goodness the wind was just horrible yesterday here, and even until around 9 this morning. Not looking forward to more rain here this week. I have so much green moss in my yard this year. I too live on north side of the mountain. Sure was fun listening to y’all talk about the girls growing up, and the things y’all did as kids. Thanks for sharing. See ya again soon. 😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’m from north of Winston Salem. Spent my early years on a tobacco farm. Followed my grandma around while she did chores. It was the same as you talk about in Appalachia. I remember before they had electricity. She was afraid of storms so we had to lay on the bed until the storm passed.
Ms. Tipper, in Mississippi a man and his elderly mother were sucked through the window of their house that was totally destroyed and layed down side by side unhurt.
We went barefoot all the time when we were young. Found out about "grounding" a few years ago. Who would think what we did when we were younger was healthy. LOL 🙃 Earthing (also known as grounding) refers to contact with the Earth's surface electrons by walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems, some of them patented, that transfer the energy from the ground into the body. Studies show that just 30 minutes of grounding barefoot can heal pain, reduce inflammation and improve quality of sleep.
When wanting to go swimming in the spring our mum would say ‘when there’s enough blue in the sky to make a pair of cats pyjamas’ you can. It seemed odd and we didn’t think too much about it. We lived all summer barefoot.. shoes to school but even then we hid our shoes in the hedge and collect them to wear home.
In your green house have you tried to put that screen shades over the roof and that would make it a lot cooler with the shade and you still get enough light to grow the plants.
I always say and believe this I think it was a Quote from Red Skelton. "WHEN YOU FEEL TOO OLD TO DO SOMETHING, THAT IS THE TIME YOU SHOULD DO IT SO SWING, SKI, GO SLIDING, GO SKATING." As I listen and headaches come up I have a remedy and it is nearly instant. Peppermint oil "Japanese" kind you just put a drop on your finger and rub it on the outside of your upper lip and breath through your nose. Gone within seconds and you never need a pill. Thanks for sharing guys. Sending Hugs from Canada!
Matt said “sometimes when I’m real tired I can’t sleep” I know that feeling. It’s bad to be to tired to sleep. Enjoyed it, keep up the good work. I look forward to your weekend videos.
You two have been little worker bees today! You definitely got your steps in and made lots of progress. I know you are tired but I know you are proud it is finished! You will enjoy your sleep tonight!❤❤
Thanks SO much for the invite to sit with y'all for a spell & reminisce about such good memories of both you both & the girls! You both work so hard - Well done ! Looking forward to seeing amazing things starting to pop up all over your wonderful yard ! Just wanted to share, a friend has terrible allergies, especially in the spring including wakin' up with bad headaches . And one thing that seems to have helped( if it's not a habit already) is to take a shower before bed to "wash off the day" = all the dust, pollen & whatever all off head & skin so it doesn't get on the pillow & sheets and rub into your face all night. Thanks again for sharing & for all the hard work it takes to share with all of us - God Bless !
Dear friends, I give myself daily/hourly pep talks. If you think about a chore, you may not do it. Just pop up and go at it😂. Your place is beautiful and we can’t wait to see another garden grow to fruition. 🙏 for our Mississippi brothers and sisters. Nature is ferocious at times. We were told the rubber on our shoes would protect us from lighting😂😂. God bless you and yours.
Omg. Your swinging by your knee and spinning on those monkey bars brought back memories of doing the same. On the same bars you described. I did fall once and was winded. But was soon up again. That was the 60’s. the higher the bar the better. Same game but I live on the other side of the world. Universal fun.
Thanks for sharing pictures and stories of the girls when they were young! I miss my kids being little. I can't wait until you have grandchildren.❤🎉😊 they will adore you.
I was 17 in 1974 when the tornadoes came through so many states. I'm in middle TN and remember my parents waking us kids up to go to basement about 1:00 in the morning. Tornado traveled over the top of the house. I remember that sound. We didn't have damage. So many people lost their lives here. Needless to say, my anxiety goes to another level when it storms. Really enjoyed hearing how Corie and Katie played when they were kids. I agree with Matt in terms of kids getting dirty and playing outside hard. Enjoy the workins and your popsicle time, and all the conversations! Thanks for sharing Tipper!
Just wanted to say I watch you all the time sometimes I just let ur videos play I’m from south Alabama but my way of life growing up is very much the same as yours in Appalachia and the people are exactly as the same as my people! I love granny and all the older ladies just like my grandmothers! Also I love ur cooking! Thankyou for sharing your life!! I love watching!
I know you talked about a lot of things in this video but one thing that caught my attention was the weather changes and the greenhouse being in a mud hole. It's the same here in southern WV. My garden in in bottom land along the creek. And about ten years ago I built a new chicken house and lot on a slightly higher section near it. A few years ago part of the garden became too wet and stays that way. And underground water started flowing through the chicken lot and under the chicken house. And I believe it's because we get almost no snow, the ground never freezes, it rains every other day almost, and almost never the slow, soaking rains of my youth that were so good for gardens. Always hard, violent, windy storms and clearing downed trees on a regular basis. Things have changed so quickly. I sure enjoy the sit-down conversations though.😊
In these days of stress and concern it is so good to just watch good people living normal life and doing normal chores. Example is the greatest teacher. As the Good Book says let your life be the preacher.
Hello neighbor ❤ Nice to see you here. Tipper is so much like my mother’s family, from the Appalachian Mountains. They were the most beautiful and amazing people and the ones I knew are gone. Watching this family is a real comfort and blessing for me. I’m very thankful to have found her here. Praying that everyone stays safe through the storm season. 💗🙏
Tackling the hard jobs first does seem to make the others easier. At least that’s what I tell myself. I have one of those stand up swings on my deck. It’s nice when I have time to sit in it. We’re in the middle of NC and everything is covered in pollen. Good luck to Matt next week on his turkey hunt. Take care and God bless y’all! 😀❤️
Enjoyed the video. Me and my grandaughter got to host a you can grow day for some of her friends recently. These kids had a blast being outside getting dirty and learning to grow things. We was always put us outside as kids mamma couldn't hardly get us to come inside. Take care sister
Try a wedge pillow. I have terrible allergies and sinus headaches. The wedge pillow helps so much and you get used to it fast. Love your videos. Valerie in SC
