One thing I learned about boiling water in the microwave is that if you put it in too long it may not actually boil. But when you touch it, it will instantaneously boil and you can BURN your hand! But you can prevent this apparently by putting a couple chop sticks in it. I saw it on the food network.
How I clean the chile I don't put them in the water just yet. I leave them dry, I crack off the stem part, shake out the seeds, rinse them with water, THEN i boil them. I boil them just until they are soft :) When I blend them, i add the chile water. Looks yummy.! can't wait to try it.!

@strongbad645 if you want a hint of fruity sweet in the chili then use raisins, or even orange rind. If you just want sweet then try honey or brown sugar or a little molasses.

Prunes is an unusual ingredient for sure. I never make chili the same way twice and so maybe next time I'll toss in some prunes. I'm always looking for new ideas. Thanks, Jack.

@xoerry101ox I wear a hat because I felt like I should wear something when cooking. I didn't want to wear a chef hat because they are lame. As for what is under they had, I have almost no hair. I shave my head close because I was blessed with a balding top. So close is best. :D
You didn't drain the hamburger fat. That's way too much saturated fat. You can put it in the refrigerator, the fat will solidify at the top and you can remove it then, but with the cheese it's too much saturated fat.
most of my weight is in my stomach. no kidding. my hands are normal, legs are not fat. I have no butt and yet a big belly. I am working on the belly a lot lately.

ok Jack i have a cook off coming up in around 3 months and i won last year, i need help on what to make and somthing that will blow away the judges i will have unlimited prep time and 1 hour and 45 minutes to cook it give me some ideas,links or even post a video for me. im not afraid to go all out i love cooking and i want to show it.
I always thought, that chili is made with beans. Well, I guess you could do also without. Looks great. P.S. - you are not small person, but your hands look so elegant and skinny.
I know chili is supposed to do wonders for the bowels... but adding prunes to it seems like a sick joke! Ha ha ha. I thought the beans would do enough, but prunes too? Stay away from that house for at least a week!

Best BBQ sauce is Ray's. Jack your BBQ shouldn't be called sauce, it should be jam, Sorry but it's not nice, never bought it but tried some at a taste test counter which is how I found 'Sweet baby Ray's' never bought any other sauce since.

yeah. I guess your right. I just don't think of family as a guest. I thought the same thing. I friggin' hate prunes. That is why I was totally shocked that it tasted good. I was so ready to admit I made a bowl of dog food, but then it tasted pretty darn good. LOL
Jack! Two things.. Never boil water in a microwave, this should be obvious.. Its dangerous! Second, use fresh chillies, the flavour is that much nicer. :)
The Chilies: Cut the hydrated chilies in half after trying to get out most of the seeds by just dumping them out. Use a slanted knife to scrape off excess seeds, as they will be unpleasant in the mouth. Tomato Paste: Just FYI: Tomato Paste freezes GREAT! Just stick it into a plastic ziplock bag, get out as much air as possible, and freeze it. I really like the show, thanks Jack!
Here's my recipe for Chili. It's kinda of you classic chili: 1 pound ground beef 1 can diced Tomatoes 1 can tomato paste 1 can kidney beans 1 medium sized onion 1 jalapeno 2 tsp of salt (more to taste) 1 tsp black pepper 2 green onion (right at the end) AND THE SECRET INGREDIENT! 1 tbsp black strap molasses The molasses adds both that little hint of sweetness you need and a bold flavour as well.
i always thought you did your shows alone, filming and everything, but when i was watching you "throw everything together" i notices in the kettle beside the pot, that someone is with you O.o
