Cooling with a fan also uses a lot more rodi water.

I successfully managed to cool my nano tank last year with a fan, a tray of water and an absorbent cloth/paper towel. I dipped the cloth in the tray of water, stuck the wet cloth to the side of my tank and blew the fan at it. The evaporation effect cooled the tank and then all I had to do was top up the tray of water as capillary action drew up the water into the cloth as it evaporated. That way I didn’t need to add more RODI water and I kept the lid on my tank. It worked pretty well for the few weeks heat wave we had in the UK and was cheap and I had the bits laying around.

Thank you for the warning about the speed controlled fans not being rated for continuous use. You have to go on the website to find this out. Expensive fans to last less than 3 months.

Cooling fan is the best choice but i dont wanna deal with more evaporated water to fill.

Exactly, that the problem with those but look at it this way, its only in the hot season after that just use the heater, only 3 months of struggling with the evap fan

A regular mixed reef tank in my house is it ok around 82 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit......I'm in Delaware so not real warm but gets warm... mostly because of my lights

so whats the deal with the loc line going back and fourth in your tank? asking for a friend...

Those are sea-swirls and they provide the motion.

Those computer type fans are good IF you have a rimless tank. I do not and it does not attach properly and yes I have had it take a dive into my tank and commit suicide. Now one could try to remove the small piece of area where these would sit on your tank, but then how do you do that without getting plastic in your tank or chipping the glass . ;-(

I don’t get why drop in chillers aren’t more popular - there’s like one manufacturer! To me another pump is another point of failure, and in nano tanks or AIOs there often isn’t enough room.
