Chill Studio Ghibli-inspired game you're not ready for (Behind The Frame) 

Amber & Jack met and Jack fell in love with her when they lived in apartments across from each other. She submitted her work, and then left when she got accepted. She then lived a life without Jack & never went back, she just forgot about Jack. Jack stayed at that same apartment, and kept painting his memories of when he was in love with her. He died without ever marrying, just had cats for company. The game was about her memories coming back in pieces while seeing his work being shown after he died.

Just letting you guys know when it seemed like the building had fallen it was the painting getting put into a box to be taken to the art gallery.

My son says it's called "Behind the Frame" because the girl you play as is behind the frame.

My interpretation is that Jack was in love with Amber, but never said anything because he knew she would move away as soon as she finished her painting. You can see his face look a bit sad when she says she was accepted before he congratulates her. She moved and married and had children. Jack never left the apartment across the street and continued to draw her until he got ill and died. After he died, they put up a gallery of his work in a memorial and Amber returned home to visit it. I also kinda got faint vibes that Amber was perhaps struggling with dementia in her old age which is why the day kept repeating in the same routine and she didn't know who she was or recognize that she was older. Or perhaps you were in the painting in tbe beginning, trying to figure out why you had been painted. Either way, it's super sad but so cozy.

Was in the middle of reading my textbook for class and wanted some music on, then I saw "uploaded 3 minutes ago" and "ghibli" could not resist. PROCRASTINATION TIME

He was older and sick when he was painting a portrait of the love of his life at the time they met. This is the last painting he made before he passed and that's why it was so special to her and her family. And why his favorite brush was left with the painting.

I believe we were a painting in his room, reliving the same day we had when he painted us. Thats why he would ignore us when we tried to talk to him, but we were still able to see him paint and experience the other memories from all the other paintings in his room. That would also explain why when he died and we tried to reach out to him it kinda looked like we fell forwards, because our painting fell forwards and we were looking at the floor. And then the next time we get to look out of the window it’s to the gallery. At least that makes sense to me. It’s very cute and sad 🤧i loved it tho

This is why my paintings look like they do! I got the first part down, with the big splotches, but the magic second step where all the detail just appears is missing.

Whoaaa! This animation reminds me of Spiritfarer, A really nice game. It's singleplayer but co- op is an option! If you guys wanna cry I 20/10 reccomend.

A Casual Couch Thursday could be a separate Uncut channel playlist where whatever games you play and save to that channel are noted as 'slower-paced' in releases and with either longer time periods that the game is played over (if it is a longer game), or for random games with only 1 or 2 streams/uncut videos. Would make for nice relaxed or low-pressure viewing.

Cat myths say that cats can interact with ghosts/souls, so the cat climbed into the painting. I think Evan was right in that Jack "captured a part of her soul". Either way, the painting was put in a bag/box and that was when we got locked in the room/fell. I think the painting was in his art room, and when he passed away his art got donated/put in a gallery. She left for NY young and when she came back with her grandkids she bought the painting from the gallery after he passed and put it in her living room. So cute UwU

I feel like yall should consider a timer- once evan takes the controller he keeps it for way longer than Katelyn in all the games you play 😂

This game really has this ghibli-esque atmosphere reminiscent of 'Whisper of the Heart' and 'From Up On Poppy Hill' I always adored this 'clutter' in studio ghibli's productions... this lived-in feel of spaces packed with memories.

This was such a great cozy change of pace game. So curious and gentle and full of love for art and people. I think Amber has alzheimers which explains her lost days and confusion. She was able to piece things together and remember her younger days. She went to NY and led her life. Her Behind the Painting self could see/sense Jack was old and sick. She went to the gallery with her family to see the artwork. She left the paintbrush as a tribute. You wouldn't necessarily do that for a spouse when you have kids; you'd let them have the brush.

At the beginning when they said some cozy drinks my first thought was HOT CHOCOLATE ☕️

This was a beautiful and cozy game but I have a bad case of Gerascophobia(fear of aging, time going by too fast and skipping life). I thought maybe she had dementia and was actually old the whole time but it was a nice twist. It just triggered that extreme fear for me unfortunately. I wish time didn't go by so quickly, we are all gonna blink and be 80 years old wondering what happened to life? That is my biggest fear.

Jack was our lost love and died. We outlived him and started another life when we moved to New York

Want to watch this now but clearly I have to wait until there is a chiller time

I went to the Ghibli Museum near Tokyo. It was really amazing, it's just a shame no picture or video taking are allowed inside. Got some cool pictures around the outside part though!

Soooo I went to Steam to check this game out, and they offered me a bundle of indie games that included 'Calico'. You build a cat cafe and get cats in it, I think. Maybe it would be the game to you guys? Edit: Took a little digging, but I found your form and submitted the game. 👍

I noticed the final shot before the credits was Amber, painted from the old man across the street's perspective, so the old man was Jack.

For me the story is: Jack and Amber had a relationship but Amber died. Jack, in her memory kept painting what she used to paint, that is why their paintings are the same. She as a ghost does not remember anything, but is reliving her life. Also, the reason why I believe she is a ghost is the reason why the old man Jack never talks to her or interacts with her, but the cat does. And he keeps the cat as a memory from her too, as the cat is the offspring of her cat.

I think you guys will like SpiritFarer. It's a chill cozy game with an adorable story and graphics. It's on steam and you can both play together on one device, or you can play together on two devices. (Plus one of you gets to be a cute CAAAAAT and you can hug!)

Another really chill, fun puzzle game that is two-player is Pode for the switch, i highly recommend you guys check it out, even if its just to play together in your spare time 😃

Lovely game. From about 20 minutes on, I was thinking she was an old woman with dementia, and this was going to turn out to be like... some elaborate "50 First Dates" kind of scenario.
