I always find it a little stressful when I watch camping videos and at night they leave all curtains open with lights on. I assume this is so the monsters looking in can more easily see their target 😀 The first thing I would do is close all curtains right when sun begins to go down…and lock windows and doors 👹
Me too! I've never felt safe anywhere w no covering over windows. When it's cold I have precut plastic covered cardboard to fit inside the window frames then close the curtain

This was my first time encountering your channel and I'm absolutely enamored with your tiny trailer! It's perfect for a nice little jaunt out with a car. It has everything you need and no extra fluff. Your puppy looks so sweet. Thanks for sharing with us
@@TinyCabinLife my first thought "is that an outhouse?"...but once you opened it up, realized that it was wayy bigger inside. I'm living in a 26ft RV. My first night in the Canyon, it was SILIENT IN MY WORLD. Oddly unnerving when that's what I was craving. Now pretty used to the quiet. Noises now wake me up. I love walking outside at night. Stayed on a 230,000 arce ranch for 2 full moths this summer. You could NOT SEE YOUR HANDS IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE at night. I'd grab a flashlight and walk. Now couldn't go off the private road bc of cougars and coyotes. I'd mainly stargaze.I could see the Milkyway in the heavens... It was so very uplifting
Another wonderful video! Thank you. I loved your distinction between aloneness and loneliness. I've been to 35 countries and principalities. I always left by myself and I met many interesting people on my travels. I don't consider myself a loner but I feel very comfortable being alone. I'm not someone who needs people around me although I enjoy the company of others. And I'm with you on having the coffee ready to go. I tend to be a little fumble fingered in the morning. Blessings to you, Riley, Olivia and Ellie.
Night hikes are cool 👍🏽…so is the desert. Best thing is, in the desert you can remember your name, because there’s ain’t no one for to give you no pain…😉
Love my Sunday mornings with coffee and one of your videos. I went back to watch one that I had never seen before. Nice set up with the diesel heater and I'm really impressed with the low fuel consumption. Would have been rough sleeping in those temps and even rougher getting up for coffee. A night walk with your faithful sidekick Ellie was a great way to end the day, God Bless!
There’s just nothing not to like about your channel. Your content is authentic and enjoyable. Your family is beautiful and Ellie is absolutely perfect! I love watching what I wish I had done in life. We are retiring in 2025 and are currently looking at truck campers. Destination Minnesota! ❤
Prepping for Night: 7:28 - 7:39 That is the exact feeling I get each time I go to my Small house in the woods. When I turn off the road to open the gate to drive the mile or so to get to my property I'm always reminded that I'm about to be alone in the woods and there's not going to be anyone else around. It's a feeling I can almost see conveyed by the trees all around me. Definitely a feeling of being alone but not a feeling of loneliness because I choose to spend time there, 'Alone." You're the first person I've ever heard echo such a feeling. This is my first time on your channel, I've subscribed, and I'll be back for more!
@@donnadiesburg7451 why?? The animals won't bother ya. Although I did have some armadillo's chasing me the other night because my son heard something outside his camper and was afraid to go check it out, lol.
*I love that you respond to every comment. Some people could care less. It's sad they want your attention for however long but don't have 2 minutes for you.*
I'm debating on getting another dog sometime, I don't know if I can . They bring so much love in your life. They sure break your heart too.Its a lot of responsibility, like a kid almost. You have worry about them in all your decisions. If I went out of town he'd be so crazy happy to see me,and then he'd give me the cold shoulder to show me he wasn't happy about it. I swear he rolled his eyes at me when the music was too loud. He loved Adele. He howled everytime he heard her. He sang with the dogs that did jingle bells. He'd sing when I did. One of a kind. He followed me to every room I went to.. Rest in peace ,Shadow
I love it. People are discovering your videos and its about time. Your vlogs have great content and very useful information. Keep making these type of videos. Great to see you and Ellie. Hope Rylie did well on her exam. PEACE!!
Lovely! Thank you for taking us along! Yes- my Bernese Mountain Dog's idea of sharing the bed is all consuming😂. So refreshing hearing you being grateful for all that is beautiful. We have a sandy area with pine forest in Germany called the "Senne"- friends had a cabin there- with outhouse (spiders! Yikes)- but great childhood memories- also taking night walks, fir tree silhouettes against a full moon, unforgettable! Thank you for taking me back there! Take care- hope your wife did well on her test, big hug for Ellie😊🎶🐾
Agreed, knowing you are alone and the darkness is exciting and heightens your senses. My dog probably would be lifting his head and growling all night which would add to the mystery of the night.
Have you ever thought to put an alarm on your cabin, so that if you walk too far and are not sure exactly which way the cabin is, you can set the alarm and know which direction to go? Just a thought. I love your cabin, some great ideas.
I use to enjoy night hikes when I was stationed in Germany back in the 80s. There was a peacefulness with a star lit night once you got far enough from the sounds of everyday life.
Dude you are so lucky to do this I am very jealous that you have the opportunity to do this keep up the great work, and letting people know that it's possible to do!!!
How am I just finding your channel, sir? Outstanding video. I love the cabin! Sand Dunes looks so beautiful. The majestic trees did it for me. Best wishes and safe travels to you and yours.
really love following you.. I'm originally from Minnesota and enjoy watching people participate in its beauty. currently living in SLP Mexico and have been for 4 years. I've had enough and I want to go back to my home state
so cool that you built your own tiny cabin for weekends away and I would not go out hiking at night, we live in the smoky mountains, bears are out and coyotes
It’s exciting to see your channel has tripled in subscribers since I found you. That couldn’t have been much more than a couple of weeks ago. That’s awesome. Congratulations. God’s blessings to you and your family
@@TinyCabinLife have you thought about putting winter shades on the windows to keep the heat in at night? I see van conversions with these type. Many are DIY out of the solar shades that you can buy at car part stores then they put metal magnets on them so they stay in place. look up. yt vids. Great little camping home!!
Ya night hiking until you run into a bigfoot or other cryptid. Just make sure you always listen to YOUR DOG,. who's able to see and sense way more than we can. I still do night walks myself but not a hike however Ive got kids I have to survive for. So ya there's that. Totally miss camping though. You've got an awesome little set up.
I just spotted you. In Tennessee After my late wife died from Cystic Fibrosis it was to quiet at home. No more oxygen machines and so on so it was extremely hard to fall asleep. So I discovered camping in the Smokey’s. To keep my mind and physical self going I made is tiny cabin as you did. A self project that helped me learn to be alone for the first time in 25 years. I am now in SanDiego now remarried and she was able to camp with me and I just feel so blessed. Blessings to you
So sorry to hear about all that, but I really am glad to hear that building your own little cabin led to healing. So happy you’ve found someone who enjoys it with you again too 🙏🏽
@@TinyCabinLife Thank you. It actually rained here in SanDiego for two days. Rain is scarce here I miss the east coast just for the rain lol So I went and slept on the Tiny cabin in the rain and my now wife loved that I felt the freedom to do so. God bless you both.
What an awesome trip! I'm super jealous! 😊 And Ellie is such an amazing dog, love her! Question: Won't covering the windows at night keep more heat in? Maybe 2 pull down shades? I'm new to the channel so I might have missed it if you talked about it earlier. Anyway, greetings from South Africa, love the channel. 😊
Thank you so much!!! Ellie is the best :) And yes, we have shades on each window 🙌🏽 I didn’t show when I closed them up. It definitely helps. Hello to you from Minnesota!
We saw your coffee setup, how is it? My wife tried a percolator and told me it was too bitter. We switched to a pour over, we heat water in a small kettle. Gives me water for oatmeal and hot chocolate too, so it scratches a few itches. Cool video!
That is so cool! Have you ever had any security encounters, like someone trying to get in camper, or animal (bear/coyote/snake) encounters? I love your camper. Give your dog some people food, sometimes I mix a fried egg, our dinner leftovers or gravy in my dog's food. I'd feel terrible if he had to eat same thing everyday.
It's not a bad little cabin it has everything you need and you can enjoy the nature and wildlife when you have time to kill. It's the little things like this that people take for granted they don't realize how precious and important these moments are and they don't realize these are memories that could go on for generations.
This was a really nice video. I watched it getting ready for work today. Living vicariously through you and also staying appreciative for my life too. Thanks for sharing!
I don't know how you can live or camp in this super tiny cabin but I'm sure that I can't even breathe in this cabin... Man this is just super super tight and tiny!!!
@@TinyCabinLife The states is known for legal possession of guns but surprisingly no one seems to have them when they need them the most. I'd have a gun a rifle a baseball bat and a hunting knife. At least you have a dog for an early alarm system
I live in the forest in Nova Scotia and on a cloudy night you can't see your hand in front of your face. It is so quiet that you can hear the silence if you can get your head around that.
It’s funny I like in Boston and I go up to Maine a lot, and I try to explain to people how your eyes need to adjust when you go from only being able to see short distances because of buildings to the wide open panoramic views!
We keep 5 gallon bucket out in the storage shed for emergencies. The commode lid that fits perfect we found at walmart in the camping section. Sure came in handy when the bathroom was being remodeled, and it's useful when we have a lot of company. Lol . . Line with a trash bag and use kitty litter 👍
