Had the pleasure of seeing them open for In Flames during their Impossibility of Reason tour and they were the first live band I saw. So not too long after this DVD was filmed. They were incredible live. Countless live shows after seeing these guys. What a time...
I saw them do this live right around this time back in 04. I loved seeing that synchronised guitar swinging! That night was my first experience with the band - they came here to Australia in support of In Flames back in about 2004/2005. I remember coming away from the concert being more impressed with Chimaira than In Flames, who I actually went to the concert to see in the first place. Safe to say that Chimaira gained a fan that night. I went out and bought the Impossibility of Reason that very next day and was blown away. It was right at the very beginning of the 'New Wave of American Heavy Metal' and I discovered so many sick bands during that time. Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Chimaira, Killswitch Engage etc. I would walk around my university campus with my old ass MP3 player (this was before iPods) with that album, or some Slipknot or Machine Head or whatever blaring and just let the music take me. Awesome.memories. I wish I could go back and relive that time period. Every day I would go to university for a few hours, then go to the campus bar for a few beers, walk into town, stop and buy a new CD or DVD or two (back when DVD's were popular, before streaming or even BluRay) then smoke a joint and listen to music on the train ride home. Now I'm 38 and am pretty much just sad and tired all of the time.
