Dividing her time between Nigeria and the USA, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has become one of the world’s most internationally-respected authors. After three acclaimed novels including Half of a Yellow Sun and Americanah, her most recent title, Dear Ijeawale takes the form of a series of letters to a friend about feminism and motherhood. In this event, filmed live at the 2017 Edinburgh International Book Festival, Adichie is interviewed by Scotland’s First Minister about her work and ideas.

i was raised in Nigeria and went to college in America. Stayed for 10 years. I did not enjoy most of my experiences with race especially and it was just a confusing and stressful time in my life. When i returned home, i never looked back.Till this day, i don't look forward to even having a vacation in America. Reading Americnah gave me so much closure and gave me understanding of my time there. It was like Ifemelu went through 80% of what i experienced. I can finally "look" at America again. It was too close to home for me and i'm grateful to Chimamanda for this book.

I just love and admire our first minister, she’s so humble, I never knew she’s this funny. And Chimamanda, you are such an intelligent and beautiful woman. May God bless you both.

I love the Scots! This must be a relief considering the shameful interview and experience she had in France.

I'm a new fan of Chimamanda Ngozi Achidie. I was just introduced to her a month ago (on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah) and I've been listening to her talks ever since. I look forward to reading her books. I love how astute, aware, sensitive, present she is. She truly knows people. What an amazing woman!

My first time ever hearing about her and the fact she never knew she was black is when she came to America I'm African American I wish I could have had that experience 😪 to not know color of the human race what a privilege 💔 and a disappointment to find out that your judged on your skin color. I would love to visit Africa 🌍 to have that experience to not be seen as different but; equal I have throughly enjoyed meeting her by way of social media I can see her in ancient times sitting on a throne as a beautiful queen with her wisdom, intelligence, character and integrity she could rule a kingdom and stand toe to toe with any man.

The main reason why I love this lady is that she provided me the language to describe my third culture experience. Chukwu mu ama nda n'ezia n'ezia.

Though I sometimes criticise Chimamanda for her sentiments about certain issues, there's no doubt that the world (including me) admires how boldly she speaks her mind.

It was just so easy and enjoyable to listen to both of them. Watching this video, I did not suffer of "short attention span" - not even for a moment.

Two very brilliant women. As a Nigerian woman, Chimamanda is a great example that our current millenials who are somewhat confused could emulate. A strong, brilliant, articulate and well mannered woman.

Having grandmothers who were from Nigeria both Igbo and Yoruba Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie bring clarity to my childhood growing up in the Caribbean and now maneuvering my adult world in the US. Luv her!
