There are currently as of 2023, 23 chimps in the chimp troop at Chester Zoo consisting of 8 Males and 15 Females The oldest is Boris at 56 years old Born 1966 and the youngest is Jeff at 1 Month old Born December 2022
Most of the chimps at Chester Zoo, have appeared in the popular nature documentary series, shown on TV called The Secret Life Of The Zoo.
This animal documentary series was first aired on TV in 2016 and has run for 10 seasons from 2016 - 2021

Ms. Caroline, this youngster is displaying his/her being upset that the adult is trying to take something from him/her. Depending on the baby's social ranking within the troop makes ALL the difference on how baby reacts to another trying to steal from baby. If baby is higher-ranking than the would-be thief, then by baby's alert cry, Momma (and possibly other high-ranking troop members) will come running to defend baby but more importantly to attack and correct the lower-ranking chimp. All primates live in troops that are governed by strict social rules. High-ranking primates get MANY, many privileges (ie: get to eat 1st, be 1st to play toys, can kidnap a baby or anything else, they can be bossy, pushy and even mean towards any lower-ranking troop members without worry of repercussion of any kind nor worry about that individual trying to attack back). When a high-ranking female has a female offspring, than that baby will inherit Momma's ranking. If Momma has a male offspring, he will enjoy Momma's privileges until he gets close to reaching sexual maturity. Once he reaches sexual maturity, he will then be kicked out of the troop (usually done by the alpha male and/or highest-ranking male troop members and he will go join a bachelor troop (until he gets big and muscular enough to go try to fight and dethrone an alpha) or he might attempt to join another troop. Chimp edicate is you don't touch another chimps food once they have possession of it, good for the youngster to know that and hopefully she knows she can't take from other chimps as well

That’s gotta be feisty little Stevie. She’s such a smart and strong girl. And still as adorable as when she was a baby. ❤ I’m dreading the day she develops one of those bug gross rumps. I hope she doesn’t get stuck with one of those enormous lumpy ones that’s never clean. 😒
