Yes. I agree with you & will venture to say its even the smaller "wild-life" native to other continents. I will attract nay-say-erz & I understand a longtime family pet is difficult to see as wild (particularly mammals, imo); but Id say err on the side of caution. I have a guard around pitties especially for the aged, disabled & young who may be unable to try to escape their jaws but thats not what I came here to say: a friend of mine worked as a mobile emergency medical responder & saw the horrifying aftermath of one call out to a family home with children where a non-rabid; non-brain diseased families' housepet decided it was wild & not domesticated. I wont go into the gory details.

I feel some humans feel like we are taking over to much. Resulting in the death and extinction of so many animals and their habitat. Because I asked myself the same question. Asking if you want a child there are so many children in foster care who need a family. So my only idea is they were god complexing how they were saving him.

They deliberately make it almost impossible and this is why people prefer to adopt from abroad. I can understand the idea of making sure kids dont go to a bad family but at this point they end up staying in the "care" permanently until they are kicked onto street on 18th birthday because it was impossible for them to get a home.

The was this story of a bully chimp, hated among its peers. One day they they had enough and attacked at once. Suffice to say they literaly desasembled that chimp with hands and teeth... They are brutal...

I am sure at that time, Harrods Department Store sold exotic pets, even lion cubs. The Kray twins were still on the loose, too. Happy days.

I certainly wouldn’t but long gone relatives another few centuries ago used to have a pet monkey. Probably a spider monkey. And with nearly a dozen kids the monkey fit right in. 😂 Monkey are very social and can be clingy, and act out of emotions like jealousy and envy. My relatives never had any issues but it was a different environment back then when you had so many siblings/ children. Handling animals was apparently something one of the parents had grown up knowing how to handle. When the family sizes got smaller, no more monkeys.

Yes, but to be fair, dogs do even more harm because there are many more dogs. More than 800,000 people are attacked, maimed and killed by dogs every year in the US alone! And most of the victims of severe dog attacks are infants, children, the elderly and anybody not strong enough to fight them off.

We all are really, some more domesticated than others. Under stress that domestication is tested. The world is increasingly stressed with loss of habitat, loss of cultural belonging, etc hence the utter crazy and sadly tragic behaviour everywhere.

All animals are different, though. Chimps are extremely aggressive creatures, just like us. But each is different. There is an old couple of circus performers here in Germany who raised a Chimp who is now very old. They kept treating him kindly and never put him in a cage. He never hurt anybody, never was aggressive. Moe was raised like a human child, then inexplicably put in a cage and severely restricted in his movements, just when he wanted to roam about to experience his adulthood. Travis, who bit a woman's face off, lived with a narcissist who left him all alone, in a cage, after his beloved Daddy died, then returned and put him on xanax or something like that. He had been used to playing games on the pc, having things to do, having his Daddy around... now he was in the way and woozy to boot, then an unfamiliar lady approached him, and he snapped...
