Incredible! It's hard to believe that it's even possible for humans... (I began to think they're robots, but thank G-d that some of them made little mistakes.. :) )
This is beyond amazing. Every single one of them has perfect timing and stunning flexibilty. Not only are they all stunning but they are all dancing perfectly uniformly which is pretty outstanding.
For those wondering this is not a legit dance. It is just the basic skill training needed for more advanced choreography and movements for Chinese dance. Chinese dance was developed around 6000 years ago and combines elements of martial arts and various tumbling/acrobatic movements. Unlike ballet chinese dance focuses more on fluid round movements. Chinese dance has also drastically influenced other sports techniques and movements found in ballet, rhythmic gymnastics and gymnastics. That is why you cam find some similarities.
En Pointe Annie bit late, but if you go to the places where there's a lot of Chinese (what comes to mind is the silicon valley) you can probably find a studio
you might be interested in the Taoli Word Dance Competition. Taoli Cup is one of the most prestigious dance competitions in China. One of the founders, Panzhi Tao, has started a version in the US
this is insane how in sync it all is......FREAKING WOW !!!! Good job girls !!!!!....I just hope that you also have as awesome a childhood amid all your training !
Like my coach always says: No pain, no gain. There is always at least 50% pain to learn something new, or you're not doing it right. i think it's inspirational, these girls can be so proud of themselves, it looks beautiful.
The harder the challenge and results are more beautiful! Beautiful movements on these youngsters, they are hard working artist, it's definitely not easy at all, it's dedication for sure!
Actually, I am a dance teacher and their hips probably have more strength than yours. As long as they are stretching properly and increasing their hip flexor strength, they are fine. Yes, many dancers end up having hip problems, but mostly because of bad training. And clearly these girls have had good training. In order to do all of those moves, they need to have a lot of hip strength and flexibility
@trannelnav How do you know they were pushed to train?most girls were there because they love dancing, they were guided to have good hobbies by their parents after they were born. My son have 6 after school lessons each week and he love them very much,he was trained in Martial arts lessons as hard as these girls, but he never complain because he loves it.I once talked to him to stop the Martial aris lessons because it's too hard for him. He cried and told me he love it, so I can't stop him.
Here is a Chinese secondary school dance trainning class "v=WZdWOdWrQOY", after watch these videos, you guys would know that this is very common in China, every city has this kind of dance trainning classes, it's just basic technique skills for Chinese classical dance.
Here is a Chinese college student dance program training class, "v=pajUdVIOzbs". They were all trained the same way when they were little girls. if you want to be a good dancer in China, you have to be trained hard to pass this kind of basic skill exams.
This is a very basic Chinese classical dance training class for little girls, they need this skills to perform Chinese classical dance after they grow up, Please check out this adult Chinese dance training "v=SpSJy_s3CjA", very beautiful.
LOL, if the ballet dancers can't split their legs, can't pointe on the ground, how can they perform the ballet arts. Chinese dance is a kind of performing arts, basic technique skills are required to perform Chinese dance.
Chinese dance is kind of performing arts, it's not like the hip pop dance everyone can dance on the street. Basic technique skills are required to learn Chinese dance.
Finally, here is a Chinese classical dance on the stage, "v=BhAcDLK-ghE". after watching this one, you will have a basic idea of what Chinese classical dance is.
Dear Lilith: Haven't watched it but I'm sure you are right. Ballet has always been in synch with so-called Classical everywhere else:, why not here? . Euro-ballet got grafted onto older and probably more demanding Chinese forms. Try getting even a prima to do a grand jete with a rifle held high over her shoulder - she couldn't even try. - What ballet is now in China is - something that fuses court dance, Petipa and martial arts. Neat stuff for the pros. Not for kids - for teachers .
I heard that chinese dancers are like rubber bands. I imagine them doing those hard moves when they were 5 or 6 years old. the music : ( plus i could hear the teacher screaming at them. poor dancers having to go through the pain.
alguien me puede decir que musica usan en este video porfavor???????? es que ya la habia oido antes y me gusta mucho pero no se de quien es la musica ni como se llama
But these movements are those done in gymnastics and acrobatics in other countries. In dance they move to music e.g. like they do ballet training in Vaganova or Bolshoi or other famous school, they move to music and they try to make movements graceful right away. With other styles of dance too.
They are chosen for body type and temperament at 4 and don't do anything else. Asian as a race are just like us, the companies just the very best out of thousands and train them constantly. You see the same thing in Russia. You would see it over here if we became communists.
A lot of people complain about how painful this technique exercise LOOKS, but then it's almost the same as dances' basis. Actually Chinese dances (the traditional style) are among the most soothing and graceful out there. For example, modern dance can be just as taxing on the body. And what's with people who try to relate to politics when they know nothing about play between politics and culture anywhere.
Guys... in many chinese dance school this is considered the "basics" excercise which one have to master before they can move on to more expressful stuff like dance... that's why you may consider them as robots or whatever but in fact they are not particular expressive as they consider this not as art, but as an excercise... Stop judging! Some chiense dance school are still quite traditional and they believe where there is no hardwork (no gain), there will be no gain. It's just the way it is..
Actually they might think it's a good thing because of "no pain, no gain" and they are able to gain such strength, flexibility and precision due to their hardwork and persistence. And they are happy because of achieving this... don't assume that they are forced/coerced into this.. And with regards to the music... theres a reference to chinese martial arts here and so i think it really is suppose to symbolize the power and abilities they have (instead of making it more like a dance).
Personally, I can see your point of view on this video and I think it is a good comment to make people more self aware of the work they go through, but many girls or boys go through this kind of training for other sports/arts such as ballet, gymnastics, and even just lyrical jazz routines. If you search on youtube it's really not that hard to find girls/boys as flexible as the ones in the video, if even more so. Yes, the music might not be for everyone XP, but it is a cultural thing.
For those of you who unsure about the type of dance you're watching, go watch this video: (type in RU-vid URL) & then: /watch?v=m2qsdnOTDYU It's from the Shen Yun Performing Arts Company. They help explain what Chinese Classical dancing is & how it differs from Western European ballet. For most Chinese classical dancers, nobody lies & tells them it's easy. That's just the nature & beauty of performing arts. To make our bodies "appear" to effortlessly express what words or music cannot. :)
Umm...Chinese classical dance isn't ballet. Chinese classical dance arose in the early 1900s after Chinese traditional dance--the dance style that people usually think of when they hear "concubines" and "imperial court"--became formalized and techniques from ballet were added. While ideas were drawn from ballet, Chinese classical dance is a unique danceform. The lines, the technique, the training, and the footwork are very different from ballet.
Well, that is a stereotype often made that Chinese teachers and parents beat their kids, of course they all want them to be able to do their best, to reach their ultimate potential, but what you are saying is completely incorrect. These children do agree to this, because it is what they desire to do, I am Chinese and I know this. I do also know that most kids have been training since they were the age of four or three.
Academics isn't physical, so your comparison doesn't really make sense. And they hit to improve posture and balance, not to be abusive. And I approve, so do my parents. Why? Because it's my dream to be in the Olympics. I've trained everywhere, including China. And I dance. They only do the things you speak of to help, not to be abusive, and I've met several ballet dancers that have had similar training. No pain, no gain.
does this look circus to you..? watch fairs fly or other classic chinese dances, you will see how artistic chinese are. they can use graceful movements and mix it with contortion without compromising their artistry.. cirque du soleil is over rated,. a lot of the most difficult acts cirque are done by chinese any way. but this "exercise" is not for circus. they will use this later on chinese classical dances which is unique from the west.
@trannelnav well this is not the case for me, you can never keep on practicing for years and years without determination, that is from within. you have to wake up early morning everyday and also practice after school, you might feel lonely, not so many people understand this art and those hard work you put into it, and also pain, bleeding feet and such. i can't do this if i dont love it and it's just my parents push me to do it.
It's okay if you hate the dance, but if you do - I am wondering why you decided to watch this video. [I'm not trying to attack your comment by ANY means, I'm just curious]. Also, please be more respectful of the music because it belongs to the Chinese culture, so I would think that some people find it disrespectful.
these are kids who've committed their lives to becoming dancers. they all enter the field with the hopes of becoming a professional and making it big, so they have to put all their time and effort into it. please don't think chinese culture produces nothing but emotionless robots, since that's what everyone (but not necessarily you) seem to think.
I was just thinking that! The next ridiculous DM fan that says that the Brooke is the best at flexibility will be told to watch this video. There are thousands, if not millions of girls like this around the world. The kids on Dance Moms are only the best among those who choose not to train hard enough be professional dancers.
okay so for those unfamiliar with Chinese dance education process: I spent five years doing things like this before they actually teach you a real dance. And even if you start doing real dancing 80 percent of training is dedicated to skill sets like the ones in the video. I m impressed by how they have a steady foundation, and jealous cuz i dont...
I don't see this as Dance. In dance your suppose to feel the music and flow with it, these girls have just been trained to do acro. From one STRECTH to another it's robotic it doesn't at all flow so I think that in the description box it is slightly wrong with the "dance basic skills" it should be "amazing gymnast and floor work skills" It just isn't dance.
o.O What in the freakin world are you talking about?CHinese people arent FORCIBLY removed from parents...They want to do it.They audition, and only the best get to join. That was a professional dance school. Of course only the best people get to go- meaning the most flexible, etc. Some people actually work hard because they WANT to do it, ya know
why are you comparing them to western standard.. is western dance, acrobatics, gymnastics, and contortion the zenith of these arts..this isnt even a dance.. plus you are accusing the trainors as abusers. these children were not forced, they entered this discipline voluntarily with the drive for perfection in mind..
I'm 14 and an Olympic hopeful. I do that kind of training EVERY DAY. It's not abuse. Ballet is not gymnastics, and I'm sure those people trained like that too. That's how they train in EVERY country. And it's odd that when America adopted these 'abusive' methods, they finally won. It's not abuse, it's training.
it is one of the best in china...my fd's cousin was once a student there and she became a pro afterwards. she is so proud of her school and she says it is the hard work that helps her to handle all the difficulties in the ballet...but u know, some girls love it but some girls dont. so it just depends...there is no right or wrong....
04:26 - that is the last time the girl on the left was ever seen again, because she faltered, which proves she's not perfect, which means China has no use for her :L Though I have to say, it is impressive what they can do - do they go on to join the gymnastics team? Or perhaps Cirque du Soleil...
but you need technique as a base for the emotion and individuality. yes i agree that theyre very robotic, but dance comes in many forms and you're missing the point of this one. this dance was choreographed to show off the dancers' technique and synchronization, not their emotions
This is one of many different genres of Chinese dance, not ballet. Its a different movement tradition and so it focusses on different aspects of performance-- in this genre, shape and group formation are more important than the individual's emotional state as expressed through dance.
chinese people are naturally flexible because they have less bone density and smaller in size than any other people. so it is easier fr them to contort this way. they are also generally lighter than say europeans. all you have to do to achieve this feat is training your body ..
I thought this was suppose to be ballet!? If its trying to be ballet, its a total fail. Even though this class has, I guess mastered the flexibility, there are way too many flips. Good gymnastics. The music kind of just killed everything for me though because its was so intense.
lol, everyone is amazed about them, I say there just normal chinese person, it seem like everyone in the country can do that mits they been trained from there birth. i guess they dont have a nice childhood because it they are pushed to train every day by there parents
@Miodeth it's not supposed to be ballet..this is a showcase of basic skills used in chinese classical dance. if you check out performances of actual dancing, you'll realize it's an art form of its own and it's actually very beautiful :)
I wonder what kind of emotion they have to put into this song.. Fierce emotion? Idk but I can totally sense the fierceness from them. LOL beside this is not even a dance, they are just displaying "basic skills"
I find this beautiful really but by balllet I prefer to see a beautiful emotional and vehement dance but I must say theese girls worked so hard and what they do is also beautiful and really ggod with teir technik
for those of you saying it's not actual dance, this video is technique display that shows techniques required in classical chinese dance. it's not supposed to be an actual dance routine. but anyway, it's very impressive.
haha, well if thats your case, but still children in china are pushed by there parents to peform, to study hard, to do there best at everything. I know that for shure, maybe in your case its different.
they definitely have work so hard... through the boundaries of what ordinary people can do... these girls are much better than the people who did nothing and just complaining..
Did anybody talk about ballet or dance ? This is fantastic fantastic acrobatics !! How it is possible to get to this is unintelligible ... I hope the girls love to exercise : )
This is NOT suppose to be ballet, so stop dissing it, it's classical Chinese basics, so it's not all pointed toe and turn out, though their turnouts are amazing!! And so is everyone else~
it reminds me a lot of rhythmic gymnastics, although rhythmic uses apparatus. look it up on youtube..it's very similar to this but uses a lot more elements and turns(:
lol...not really. the teacher considers not only technique, but also height and built when choosing the dancers. the fact that everyone looks similar was done on purpose
wow , such discipline and coordination.. wow , i think chinese people are really made for synchronisation .. thei look similar often have the same height .. are slim .. wow
I wish I could show this video to the moms on dance moms and then say "SEE? None of your kids are the best, so shut the hell up and get them some real dance training."
How flexible and elastic!!! They seem to have no bones at all. If I got one of them to be my wife, I would ask her to give me quite a few of those postures. Haha....!
what should that be? Showing ho good they are through doing another Pro-Pose every 5 sek? They are really good, but it isnt dance. I cant see any feeling or heart in it...
maybe they were not suppose to be smiling during this performance, which make them appear unhappyish.. anyway this is not dancing, just an exercise to train the body.
It is certainly surprising, but cade passion? Where is the pleasure of dancing? I do not see this pleasure, this dance so poor and devoid of emotion, feeling :(
Holy Crap, that is an amazing dance team!!!!! Id love to know how they train. In the beginning it was almost military like to start. KUDOZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It´s amazing! buth in my opinion this isn´t dancing actually. I mean it's more like gymnastics or something, not to hate or something, it's just my opinion.
