My wife and I have never flown CHINA AIRLINES but was able to book my dad a business class flight from SFO to CEB. He really enjoyed the flight and service CAL provided. He enjoyed the food, drinks (Johnnie Walker Blue), and lounge in TPE. Wife and I need to try them one of these days.
Looks good, I was an Eva loyalist for many years back when I used to go to Taiwan three times a year for work, but maybe I’ll try this on my next trip to Taiwan. The wood, the lamp and the michilin star food make it really appealing.
@@AskSebby There's starluxe now too (sfo - tpe) , just booked it for a future flight so not sure how good it is - you can use alaska points for it too!
I was flying from Taipei to Tokyo on Cathy Pacific business class but my flight was delayed. Cathy put me a China Airlines business class flight to make up for the delay. I was impressed by customer service at both Cathy Pacific & China Airlines. They went above and beyond to get me on my flight. They even had an agent walk with me all to the terminal then to the gate. I've never experienced this kind of customer service in the US. I will definitely consider China Airlines on my next trip to Taipei. If anyone from Cathy Pacific or China Airlines happens to read this I want to thank you all again for your exceptional service.
🌸 That looked like a really nice experience. I know they're a SkyTeam airline, but if you look at cash bookings w/ Delta they're cut out. If you ask Delta for a SFO -> Taipei flight, they won't offer the non stop on China Airlines, just a stopover with Korean. As far as upcoming points trips, we're taking the whole family to the UK this summer in Virgin Atlantic Economy. Normally that might not be a great redemption, but it's still around 2c per point, since air fare to Europe in the summer is so high right now.
Because Delta has a joint transpacific venture with Korean. They of course want their customers on delta flights as much as possible if not a joint venture partner like Korean.
I was waiting for this review! I’m flying MNL-SFO with China Air with a layover in TPE. So I’m really glad to see that it’s a good product! I used 88k (plus 25% transfer bonus) UR transferred to FlyingBlue to book it for myself and P2. Thanks Sebby! Side note, I don’t see the blogpost for this and how to pick seats.
My wife and I have booked a cruise starting at Hong Kong on 3/27, so we want to book a business class (using points from Chase & Amex) from LAX (3/24) to HK and return from Shang Hai (4/14) - LAX. This is my first time so I will need help booking them. Bruce
I just came back from Taiwan on China Airlines. They let me in the lounge at TPE 3 hours early, food was decent. Flight was amazing, better service than any US airline can provide.
Great video! I know you didn't recommend the burger and wings, but were you able to order from your screen or did you have to ask a FA for a menu to order?
🌸 I have 2 award trips booked next year so far.. March I booked 9 people (economy) to Peru! 40k each round trip.. not bad. Then I have SFO-BKK via Doha in Qsuites returning HND-SFO on JAL business. Just me and the wife. Looking forward to that.
I haven’t had a chance to watch one of your flights since we shared a mistake fare on Hong Kong airlines several years ago. I’ll be flying China Airlines LAX to Taipei to Chiangmai next Wednesday. In economy, not business. It’s nice to see that Mandy hasn’t slowed down her power walking to and from the plane.
🌸🌸🌸🌸🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼 On 10/10 my wife flew CI007 Biz Class from LAX to TPE with a great experience! On 11/16 my wife and I flew Cathay Pacific Biz-class from DBX thru HKG to TPE connecting CI008 to LAX via Premium Economy. That wasn’t great but acceptable! 🌸🌸🌸🌸🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼🇹🇼
🌸Having done the SEA-TPE on EVA this year, China Airlines seems like a great option the next time I fly that route! How do you feel about those seats vs. the ones on EVA? Lounges in Asia are a night and day difference compared to the ones here! I've also forgotten how nice it is to have full service even during short flights in Asia (where a WestEast coast flights get you nothing). These trip reports may not be the best for the algo, but love seeing real-world experiences like this
cant find the flower emoji on desktop. In march 3 nights at Hyatt zilara cap cana pre-devaluation Eva air J may/june JFK->TPE->ICN Aeroplan stop over TPE->JFK Trying to swap TPE->JFK for HND->JFK last minute to try out JAL F. Initially looking to open the alaska card but devaluation is coming. Probably get AA barclays card for this trip
Thinking of taking a business class flight with China Airlines from SFO to SE Asia using the Chase 25% transfer bonus with AF/KLM (117K miles down to 93,600 with the bonus).
service industry is dead in America. even mediocre mundane things in Asia are vastly more luxurious by comparison to the best we have to offer in the US. sad, sad state of affairs in the west, and we all known entitlement attitude is to blame.
