Indian media and public opinions towards China shifted substantially after the China-Indian border crisis a few years ago in 2020. Prior to that, it was quite normal to hear Indians express favorable views of China. Now the mood is overwhelmingly negative. Indian Americans are also similarly affected. Fareed Zakaria rarely says anything favorable about China these days. The shift is quite noticeable.

Kishore being an Asian ex-diplomat and scholar is always sensitive to other speakers in the forum. He will not be so forthright to hurt the other speakers' feeling by bombarding them with truths. The only time I have seen Kishore schooled somebody is an arrogant British 'journalist'.

That is why China has a soft power problem. The way Chinese speakers communicate is different from the style that native English speakers usually associate with impactful presentations.

uumm do you know that you answered your own question? BRI receipient countries can and do regularly include "outsourcing" as part of the deal. I'll give you an example. Thailand has a BRI project to build high speed rail. Part of the agreed upon negotiation was the transfer of the technology and use of local labour by parterning with local companies. I know this for a fact because part of the project is near where I reside, where I've seen local construction companies and workers used and there have been Thai documentaries on the project.

@Jake00001 Go do some research to see the results of the BRI projects how it contribute enormously positive to the economic development of the receiving countries before making an uneducated and foolish comment. Go visit China also to see the unwanted projects that you mentioned if it was wasteful. There may be some but overall China builds for the future. 10 years ago western media reported about China’s ghost cities, that they built too many and no one lives there. However, today many people live in those so called ghost cities. That’s call foresight. China builds while USA bombs, that’s the fact. Whatever happened to western’s BBB build back better, or was it “build better bombs” that was their true intention.
