Chinatown is built by chinese and it is populated by chinese people, not like in that city. Chinatown is their own culture. This is not their culture and as you see even they aren't comfortable living within it. This is living proof multiculturalism would be a fail. Europeans don't form european districts when moving in a foreign city, nor copy cat other cultures.
Because it gives money to China and absolutely fuck that lmao In all seriousness, you should respect the originals or do it digital but using the fakes, well... It's kinda like buying fake shoes, bags, or just apparel in general... It's not the same feeling and people will people notice in movies as well imo
Ok the giving money to China thing is valid, but what about any Chinese indie/student filmmakers? Maybe that does happen and I’m just unaware of it but it looks like it could be a pretty convenient place so that they can shoot “foreign” locations without having to leave the country.
You really mean... China:. I am copying without your permission. Rest of the world:. Hell no! China:. It's already out there and you can't tell the difference!
@@maayongaga729, I'm not defensive of anything. After I came back from Mexico, I'm having problems with SPain and Greece too, or anything that looks similar to CHina or Asia in general.
Who can tell that only American democracy is democracy? We can advise new laws on gov website, our thoughts about politics can be heard in 信访局, and our gov will call back to verify if your problem has been solved, I think that's enough.
@@爸爸-r2c Lol that's cute.. In America, you elect leaders to make those changes happen.. If they don't meet quota, you vote em out.. Congress and more.. It can be a long process, but it is worth it..
When he asked "Why is there a lot of people want to live in an American type town" The Chinese guy said "Do you want me to answer this politically or economically? (it's not an answer, but rather a question back to say "what you trying to get at here?") The translator said "they want the lifestyle" which is the wrong translation on purpose.
+Justin Liu The cut in the video seems to suggest a 'get to the point of what he is saying' but some will take it as a direct translation, which may be the aim of that cut, but I can't say for sure. It could be a play on those who don't know a nick of Mandrin to make them think -though take this with a grain of salt; that what he said is equivalent to 'They want to live this type of lifestyle'. I do utilize this technique in report type videos, but generally in order to 'get to the point of what my speaker is saying' and not to generate a 'falsely project an image'. Overall it's always context and the speaker. It's like saying 'Iron man presents a potential threat to the security of both the nation and to her interest' instead of the full report. But still, thanks for pointing that out.
I speak Mandarin and I had to listen to it twice. you are correct about the translation, and the interpreter said it wrong, perhaps on purpose. *sigh*...
albinoasesino I appreciate your input, but the person in the video simply meant to say "What you trying to get at here? are you trying to be politically or economically bias here?" This is COMPLETELY different and is the opposite of saying "yes I am reaffirming that we do want to live in the lifestyle" So in this case, the report is literally putting the wrong words in his mouth that contradicts and is exactly the opposite of what the person is trying to say.
4:14 Interviewer: Why is that a lot of people wanna live in like an American type town? Guy: do you want me to answer from a political prospective or an economic prospective? Female translator: The life style...
Lin; no offense bud, but by the look of the OG towns and cities in China, I would move out to a brand new city away from all the grime and despair myself.
To me the only great reason of living in an American esque cities or an actual American city is how fucking spacious it is. Damn I can’t even park my car in peace without worrying about whether the car is going to make contact with the walls or not
nowolves right so when Hollywood uses CGI and greenscreen I bet you fall for that shit. Shut up. Paris in China LOOKED like a gloomy day in Paris. Have you even been there
Derpy - Duh, that was the point! 4,000 years from now we won't be around to explain what happened. Just like the ancient Egyptians are not around to tell us how they built their pyramids.
The money goes to creating ghost towns, cities and to their military. They can copy but can never invent! A country that has NO inventors will crumble.
A country that has an annual trade deficit of 600 billion will crumble. Btw China was a civilized country millennia before the Americans even existed and copied everything from Europe.
This is just sad and pathetic. China has a rich culture and some of the greatest civilizations in history, but the communist government treat western countries as if they're culture is more rich and their own. I would love to see them build a modern city inspired by ancient Chinese architecture with a modern twist.
Communism and conformist Confucianism did their work. Your sh*t is my sh*t, your idea is my idea, zero concept of Intellectual Property, that is why this West-Worshiping can only alleviate the symptom, but not the cure, as long as Communism and conformist Confucianism are there. Cult of personality and lack of rule of law are the sources too.
JetStream195 Thank you! A voice of reason. People think this is cool and all I see is pure insanity. And the powerful and wealthy of this country, even forcing people to dress up in costumes and make fake snow for their own shits and giggles! Still seems pretty communist to me.
Mikael Åmark They have build all European cities together. It's fun place. If you are multimillionaire, you can buy a place there... otherwise shut the fuck up
Mikael Åmark trying to find some comments, the nearest is yours. They have the money, resources to build. Why not they create their own icon of city planning, like Dubai, Singapore, etc.. I would kinda understand if they copy the concept of the city, but.. this? On the other hand, this article seems to have a positive feedback -from a Parisian point of view, Prost (the photographer), interviewed Chinese residents.. (try to check it out over google) "What I quite liked in the end is, the place is made by the people living in the place," says Prost. "To me, what I saw there, was people just living there as they would live anywhere else." The triggering part of the archive, the difference of selling souvenirs of original paris vs the duplicate.. It depicted already the cultural differences thus making this city replica, 'just a replica'. I was like expecting the people and the city joining together eh hahaha 😋 well maybe in China, everyday life is just a busy and important life for them. As long as city is livable, everything's gonna be fine.
@Anonymous because they had faced racism...on a whole different level.. One thing I admire about Chinese, they don't complain.. They just develope in their own mold
We also moved the old London bridge into a town in the Midwest brick by brick. Also San Diego has this hole large area where they tried to recreate Venice.
I cannot afford to live in London - My own Country's capital - Might be able to afford to live in London /China though ??? What a crazy World we live in ???
interesting fact at 4:14 when the interviewer asked ‘why do chinese like to live in american city?’ he answered ‘should i start lising political or economical reasons’ and the translator just said ‘they like the style’ CENSORSHIP AT WORK
Don'y worry. Disney has its own fake TCL Chinese Theater, and its modeled after its Hollywood counterpart which in turn is modeled after architecture of a country which likes to copy well-known cities.
To be fair, Chinatown and Little Italy in NYC are not actual copies of those respective cities. They are just a few blocks of Italian/Chinese-owned stores where you can buy products or food. But I agree I don't see what the big deal is
Exactly China is pursuing new architecture buildings, how can they do this? Building of the future. Annually how many numerous artists, architects, and engineers have to study, they can Not all go out to Europe, who have that kind of money. Here they can produce the future artists, architects via real life scenerio...
ふじわら明菜 - I heard the starting price is $70,000! Supposedly, the ghost city is set up for the world’s elite. President Trump’s grandchildren are learning the mandarin language...Now why would that be? 🤔
If not staged for the elite, this is where the United Nations will push for people to live in apartments instead of single family homes to control use of oil, gas, vehicle emissions and transportation...
Justin Savinon they manufacture in China because it's the cheapest , they copy everyshit bro China ranked #1 for most fake/copied items and trademark. Bitch you guys even make fake food
That is awesome. I live in the us and that would be cool to visit somewhere and see these towns here just to visit and feel a different culture. They would do great building houses and renting them for a few days like a motel room and people could vacation there.
Mr.BenchWormer as we are shopping here $100 -1000 woman bags and sh ok especially here and think we are superior look what they got from our hard earned money spending on that junk made in China
I remember that China once had a beautiful summer palace in Beijing but destroyed by 8 western countries (Eight-Nation Alliance) in 1900, the reason why they want to destroy them is that the palace is glorious than their own. By the way, they also robbed all the treasuries within the palace and now you can see those antiques robbed from China at British Museum, Paris museum...
Yes China was weak and backward, an easy target for the taking unfortunately. Without outside showing them they will still remain the same probably still up to this day
Chinese: Let's protest now! Chinese Communist Party and Xi Jinping: Wait that's illegal. Chinese: *ignores it* Chinese Communist Party and Xi Jinping: *Shoots everyone*
the pollution has to be dealt with first. hopefully the government will find a way to deal with that. they have a very powerful government i am surprised they havent dealt with the pollution yet, unless its too difficult to find a way. removing pollution should be a top priority as it may lead to some long term detrimental problems.
My condo in China is Mediterranean style. I love it. In my area, there are three western styles. Western style buildings are very popular in China. Most Chinese people wear western style clothes too.
Yeah but they are designed by western company's and tonwestern safetbstandards ect, they ain't Chinese, havenyoubseen the Chinese designed stuff? It's junk and shit!
I like the Wyoming town and the Thames town. They both really work (on video) and feel right somehow. The Paris one..... something about it is genuinely depressing and supremely tacky. Peobably the scale.... maybe the Eiffel tower replica. Even the inhabitants aren't feeling it.
@@jesseleeward2359 Chinese Paris has a lot of fog. This bad weather is already typical of France and Europe but in China it seems that they have put rendering to a minimum. In addition, there are the store signs, they ruin the feeling that you are in Paris because they are huge kanji, big letters on the signs that are also huge.
@@jesseleeward2359 In fact it is impossible after all, at the end of the day it is not Paris but it is interesting architecturally and in terms of design too. If it weren't for this horrible climate, I would live there happily. These are thematic recreations, the intention is to try to emulate something of the aesthetics of the original environment but it is never possible to recreate the original. Just look at the urban area, Paris is radially and architecturally diverse despite links to the formation of the Haussmann facade. Let's not even talk about rats and cigarette butts.
gosh, what a sensible comment. Read an article a few years ago, and because China has 1.3 billion citizens, they wanted to create cities from different countries for the Chinese people who, if people care to remember, were secretive as a Nation and since then the Chinese Government wanted the Chinese people to experience different cultures within their onw country - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GANaIlOIjvA.html amazing short video with many revelations.
Chinatown around the world are made by Chinese migrants not by local people. In Las Vegas, the building sites as the Sphinx, are just as decoration, There are no Chinese architectural style apartments or houses, or Tian An Men ...etc No the same concept at all.
Matthew Vincent Stevenson Las Vegas actually does it to amuse people. You get a hotel fully themed about Paris or NYC. The city is not trying to become Paris or NYC or fool anyone, which is exactly what this lame Chinese city is doing here
Just look at those comments here, even after 7 years, still filled with hatred and ignorance. The very reason we need to travel is to distinguish ourselves from the blind hatred that spreading on the internet nowadays.
The first Emperor of China (Qin Shi Huang Do) built replicas of capitals cities of rival states he had conquered... if I was from one of these countries that they built city replicas of, I will be very concerned..... :(
I think it's not necessary to call this a "fake city". This is a real city. But the design is a copy from a different city. I just don't know why China is fun of copying something and applying it to their own country. For me this is not bad at all for this video only. We can't do anything since this country is noted for copying things long before.
@Fatiha Stark Are you kidding me Hangzhou isn't even considered a 2nd tier mega cities in China there's 4(four) 1st tier cities and 5(five) in 2nd tier cities in China this are 3rd tier cities. This aren't even a popular cities which is why most of us doesn't even know that it existed. Come and try living in a 1st tier cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Beijing, you'll know. Cost of living is so much higher, you can literally buy a land and build a house in this city with the amount of money you spend for buying land alone in Shanghai or Shenzhen.
ashish shukla you are the only one here that gets it. It's call get rich quick capitalism, many of the wealthy middle class used to be rural farmers. China hasnt yet a big market demand for quality designs, so developers are selling theme park style apartments, offering some sort of cheap foreign novelty, to make a quick buck. Is it that hard a concept to grasp. It's nothing about imitation of architeture style. They build with all sort of architecture styles over there.
been to Paris recently, surely the poor mans choice when visiting world class cities, such a shame it's so dirty and disgusting. It's not like you see on tv.
@Or 贝贝Be the panda 小熊猫LinPackie 小熊猫 Yes, it isn't safe. There has been a lot of attacks in France against Asians and particularly Chinese by Blacks and Arabs who see the Chinese as wealthy and passive. The police will also do nothing to protect the communities.
sadly yes. when i've visited paris it was a really beautiful city. i kinda fell in love in it, BUT i really hated the smell of urine everywhere and the presence of very strange people there
+Wilto n you know how costly it is to build a massive city that has hardly anyone living there? I don't but I do understand that it's a very expensive hobby.
Martha Argerich. Based on what I gathered and understood, a lot of these communities mimic or even copy western styles in entirety, because there is this mentality in China, especially among those ‘newly rich’, western lifestyle symbolizes wealth and high status. Plus, some of them indeed function as theme park kinda communities. In fact, I have seen Chinese themed communities too. These ones were essentially created from scratch to resemble old Chinese towns, mainly for tourism. But some are better built and some are poorly built. In fact, Vegas really reminded me of those knockoff communities. When I first saw Vegas, I felt a bit disgusted, just like most ppl would feel about these. But after a few days in Vegas, you kinda get used to the reality that everyone knows they are fake, but some are still fun to look at. The Mirage, the New York, the Venice and the Forum are weird to be together, but... fun.
