Chinese shipbuilding group China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) unveiled three new submarine designs at the Defense & Security 2017 defense exhibition held in Bangkok, Thailand. The three designs are dedicated to the export market as they were showcased by the export arm of CSIC: China Shipbuilding and Offshore International Company (CSOC). The three new designs: MS200, S600 and S1100 form a new family of submarines to address a range of operational needs and submarine sizes of potential customers.

Good luck Thailand!!

The MS200 has some impressive numbers, at least on paper. If it only needs 6 sailors (+ 8 special operations officers) to operate then there must be a high level of automation. Obviously a coastal submarine with capacity for special missions. BTW, MS means Mini Sneaky. 😂

Looks like the Chinese designers have been studying German and Swedish submarines.

The existing design has been examined as the right way, based on human's knowledge of Fluid mechanics. So why not simply use them? By the way, detail data could not be found in the model its self , everything could be changed before the sub comes.

Love to see people with almost no knowledge in arms dealing nor in modern submarines crying for the chinese copy thing.

Since I wrote the first comment on the fact that this is a ripoff, I assume you are talking about me. First of all, what do you think you know about my knowledge about arms dealing or modern submarines? What reason do you have to think you know anything about what I know or don't know? I know enough about modern submarines to see at the first glance that this looks almost exactly like one other, particular modern submarine type and I know which one and what its name is. That is not all I know about modern submarines, but it sure is all I need to know to say that the Chinese are stealing ideas again. I also know a thing or two about other weapons and arms dealing, like for example that other submarines that are compareable to the Type-212, like the Swedish Gotland class, for example, are very similar to the Type-212 in stats and capabilities and still look different. Same goes for every other modern submarine, the new Japanese one (Soryu class), the new Russian non-nuclear one (Kalina class) and so on. They all look different, even though they are in the same class of submarines. The Chinese one is the only one that looks almost exactly like another one. So don't give me any "same abilities means same look"-excuse. And even if I would really know nothing about military technology, it wouldn't matter. It isn't as if the Chinese would only have a reputation for copying and stealing military technology, is it now? They steal and copy everything, from toasters and toys to big, expensive stuff like industrial machines and aircraft. Everybody knows that and wondering how it can be that 1.4 billion people, 300 million of them with college and university education, can have so little creativity, isn't "crying", it is genuine curiosity. And if I was "crying", I would be crying out of pity for those 1.4 billion people who somehow got their natural human creativity sucked out of them by that dumb Confucian culture of theirs.

Not surprising for one who have no knowledge on defense sales, just try to get familiar with those hidden rules already. Nobody will sell a weapon in the same standard with their own, and arms export must follow preliminary requirement from the buyer. Therefore, modern arms dealing must make changes to fit for the so called "internetional standard" or "buyer standards", it is the reason why it would look a lot like Type-212. But why it is not a copy? BECAUSE THE MODEL ON SALE EXHIBITION MUST BE A FALSE ONE, given that subs manufacturer makes modification to fit for the clients need, the real design will never be exposed in term of both contract statement and national interest, that is just a toy by the way, they only show modification space and key technologies present in the modeal, and the actual data will only be confirm in a state visit later. Should you ever make deals or make careful observation in an exhibition-level business, you would have known about this already. P.S. Military equipments must adopt their target environment, the vast difference hydrology between North Altantic and West Pacific/East Indian Ocean can almost guaratee the submarine design is distant from one another.

Oh, that little plastic model isn't actually the real submarine? Gee, thanks for clearing that up man. Holy shit, am I talking to Zoolander here? Jokes aside, Gordo, I have seen many models of new weapon systems on trade shows and exibitions and they all looked like the real thing later looked. This idea that arms dealers would somehow try to hide their true designs by making fake models for trade shows that look different from the real product is just not true. If it were true, it would still be dumb, unneccessary and embarrassing to make that fake model look like another, existing submarine. How retarded would those arms dealers be to do this? "Hey potential customers at this trade show! Look at the cool thing our competitors, the Germans are selling! Isn't it neat? Yeah, we are selling a submarine too. No, we don't have a model that shows how it actually looks like. We just use our stand here at the trade show to display models of our competitor's products." Laughable that somebody who doesn't even understand the most basic logic wants to school me on "international arms dealing". If you are a arms dealer, I'm the emperor of China. But I guess I'm wasting my time typing all of this, because you seem to have trouble following a conversation in English. Considering that, you should reconsider hiding behind a English sounding name.

Yeah , I seen Gotland class Collin class and Russian subs..The S26t is just a DCNS Scorpène-class ,,, It looks like China built the Scorpène-class before the Francs did, next China will make the Shortfin barracuda before Australia dose..mmm

Let's see what we got here? A boy who had never got into any exhibition level business, trying to blur the point of views on failure responding in hydrology, and implied a racist assult to distract my attention into an argument with him. Guess I have no needs to respond you anymore, "geek boy".

Not surprised it is an obvious Type 212 ripoff. Can't those dudes ever come up with their own shit, without stealing other people's ideas and designs?

You can say ripoff to almost anything you use like the keyboard, the mouse, the monitor, the cars, the table, the frige, the key, your window, even your face. It's common that same type of things have the similar shape, what's important is the inside thing not outside.
