The 1939 start for HOI4 is actual PAIN. So why not make it even WORSE, by trying China in 1939 HOI4 start?

I mean, historical chinese divisions in ww2 were whatever they had to spare in the region There was little optimal organisation in the KMT to allow a single unit to show its face and even then most chinese units were practical militia units of again whatever they had mixing that in with the units being understrength.

@Aldrahill Just be careful, cause they updated it and last I checked Shanghai is like 7 gorillion provinces so drawing a Frontline in it is hellish.

Or the later starts (1943, June 1944, December 1944) in Darkest Hour. Especially that last one is something else. I've found a doctrine switch to be no help, and front line combat (near) impossible. I have only managed to cheese it.

Play as the nationalists in Eight Years War of Resistance, it's very fun when the Japanese AI can just ignore terrain penalties, get supply buffs and get a flat 40% attack bonus against you for like half a year while you have to work your way out of -75% attack and defense army corruption spirit, not to mention the industry debuffs. Though once the front stabilises (you get a national spirit that ups core defense and gives other buffs according to your surrender progress, alongside decisions to do the same, while Japan's buffs wear off), it's quite rewarding to reorganise and push out the Japanese.

Small tip regarding railways. It's much faster to build every rail segment individually if you have more than 1 construction line, than building it as a whole.

game idea: mod the game, so you own the entire planet via command console... BUT... The world is at max tension, you have NO cores, default focus tree, and you only get one template: You can modify that template as many times as you want, but your entire military can only use one template. Can you maintain control?

@Aldrahill when receiving lend lease, be sure to either ask someone else for convoys or your lend-leasing nation for some with the modify lend-lease request. Its sort of silly how PDX hasn't made a way for the AI to see/ask how much convoys you have.

You should consoder looking into maps of guerilla activity in the WW2 japanese occupied territories especially in 1945 as the war turned agaonst Japan (The Communists infiltrated most of the occupied country side and was crucial in their victory in the Civil War). And beware of any claims of the horde garbage. The Nazis did this with the Soviets and it was blatantly false. The Europeans did this against the Mongols too (Battle of Mohi quickly shows how full of shit that claim is too). Hell, even the Lost Cause portrays Ulysses S Grant as a Human Wave abuser without any skill (Vicksburg Campaign again proves how full of shit that is). Human Waves are real tactics and I do imagine they were utilized when necessary, but if anyone tells you this garbage about how they only used Human Waves to win, then you should immediately to be suspicious of it because it reeks of either chauvinism or coping with failure.
