Swedish battery manufacturer Northvolt has a sodium-ion battery development. This should complement the more functional lithium-ion battery, which requires scarce metals. Northvolt's technology is said to be cheap and horizontally fireproof.

It’s nothing compared to the water battery that we have here in the US. The Chinese are missing a piece of the equation. It’s not nearly as good as the US solution to the lithium ion mess of a battery
