@@Hallands. I've lived in China. At night everyone floods into the streets to walk around, dance, and eat street food. Young, old, even the pets. There is no fear of being robbed or shot. No homeless anywhere. No beggars anywhere. I've also lived in Detroit. This the the most Dystopian city on the planet. Unbelievably weird and crazy. House robbed three times in 6 months. Cars stolen, stripped, and abandoned on my street almost every week. Totally empty at night. Everyone is scared to go out. Homeless drug addicts everywhere. I've seen it with my own eyes. Great snapshot of this interesting province. I always marvel at how different everyday life can be depending on where you live, but also am in awe of the similarities in our values and goals. From the elderly lady noting the change in both her abilities and the economy as she's aged, to the child dreaming of Olympic glory, to the ship captain's emotional connection to the river...I know these people. For all our differences, we are so, so alike.

A research was done and said that an immigration from Africa came to SEA, b4 the lands was submerged caused by volcanic eruption and divided into M'sia, Indonesia, Philipines, etc. This group collectively called Malay people. Jawa, Bugis, Bawean are branches of Malay people.(Africa & Philipines also have an ethnic/race called Malay), Soon they migrated to Yunnan and also Taiwan, Taiwan via Philippines. whom are now called the natives of Taiwan. By DNA, Malay people are older than Chinese and Indian. The ancient Indian race was annilated by the eruption of Mt Toba (if i remember correctly). The newer Indian came later. I happen to come across this info when i was searching on RU-vid "Malay race" i think.

That's a little far for why direct historical connection between them. But maybe you are implying that. The Wa are pretty far inland almost behind a bunch of mountains. The migrations through that area towards Bornes are probably too far back in time to carry all those cultural nuances you are pointing to. The Wa speaks Pelaugic language. It's a different "big branch" in the language family tree that also reaches over to Borneo. But some ideas and techniques in the arts probably spread in that direction during the waves of Buddhist and Hindu culture that rose through southeast Asia at a couple different points in time. Or, maybe, the Khmer Empire created a cultural and trade connection across that vast distance a thousand years ago. That's my best educated guess.

That’s just one city. Not the whole country, so you think people in cities have interactions? You have no idea about east asia isolated and pressure society of work

In the USA those who are pretentious can connect. Those who are real and capable of being truly independent are discouraged from connecting, so that the pretentious can continue to pretend. There really aren't many unpretentious people near me. I write comments to stay connected. Besides I get to choose the subject matter/topic that are truly interesting to spend effort commenting. I had once been accused of "flooding the comment section" by a commentary who thought I write too much, too long. In China, there are many more people. I think there are those in the cities that are pretentious but are truly busy in learning and developing therefore connect in a different way than those in the USA. The USA is already fully developed country, though only 2.5 centuries old and civilized in the last century. China is an old country, civilized long ago in ancient times, but was very underdeveloped until late 20th century. These minority groups like the Lahu people that do things in more the traditional ways are slowly progressing - but only in necessary areas. You are connected by commenting. I think it could be worthwhile more so than in other ways. I don't know about Twitter or Facebook since I am not in. But social media is connection, though not in person.

The documentary about the Yunnan people's of China tells more liked the naga's of northeast India. Here in India we still have the clans of people's know as WA people's. Even the names are very much familiar liked NA WA and Ying li Tang zu . The displayed of log drum and mang buffaloes skulls hang outside the houses are everything's similiar to us. I suggest the author to research more know about all . Thanks for the information.✌️🙏

OMG, I love the 91 year old grandmother that's so active and still picking tea leaves. What a beautiful soul. Too think my relatively healthy 70 year old mother, 50 miles away regularly calls me over just to help with simple chores, weeding, lawncare, etc. First World problem. 😂 I also really enjoyed the "mud fights" of the Wa people. Who said "black face" was a negative? It's all a matter of perspective. And the 11 year old swimmer with Olympic hopes. Her mind is headed in the right direction. At that age, most kids are glued to the computer and gaming these days, while wolfing down microwaveables.
