To add to this: as both developing countries that have been independent for a short time, China was more respectful of India at the time.As the video says, India decided to take a step forward and China decided it could only strike back. China took the quick-fire approach, hitting the plains from the Himalayas in less than a month, and New Delhi was already panicking at the time. But China was poor, logistics and supplies were an issue, having suffered losses on the Korean battlefield, and also China was worried about the US intervention causing a bigger conflict, and withdrew its troops quickly before the US army could arrive. You can check the history, when the Chinese withdrew, they didn't take the spoils of war, and even repaired and refueled the cars abandoned by India, because the Chinese leaders at that time still wanted to solve the problem peacefully.

My grandfather served in this war in the Assam region. He was an engineer, and while the Chinese were close to Tezpur, he and a soldier laid a communication line through a forest leading towards Arunachal. He died before I was born otherwise I would have asked him to relate all his experiences. His brother remembers some things but he is losing his memories. I know a lot of Indians will not agree, but I personally think China took a very measured response to the developments that had taken place in our history. Even at war they were humane.

A few years later, the robber ran away, leaving behind his minion!But the robber's minion thought that what the robber had was his own, so he wanted to occupy the area that the robber had previously drawn a line. One day in 1962, he dared to occupy the area, but was beaten up by the original owner.Afterwards, the minion began to hold a grudge against the original owner of the house, believing that the owner had taken away his place.

The farthest Chinese army attack on the eastern front of the Sino-Indian border reached the outskirts of Tespur, but did not enter the city. According to the memories of some veterans, they were stationed near the railway line of Tespur. After a while, the Chinese army received a message from Beijing. The order required them all to retreat and reach the stop line. During this period, the Chinese army did not suffer any pursuit.

My state of Arunachal Pradesh was one of the main battlefields of this war, Indian army was beaten because many troops that came here were from the plains unused to mountain terrain and low oxygen at heights, bad logistics meant they were ill equipped for harsh temperatures and low on food/ammo. The chinese ususally bypassed strong positions and cut off the supply lines regulary out maneuvering Indian positions. Our soldiers fought valiantly with many stories of indivdual last stands against overwhelming odds but ultimately were beaten . Our leadership(both civilian and military) severly underestimated the chinese who had much experience fighting in mountains with veteran troops from Korean conflict.

another thing is to consider is when the Chinese state in this iteration goes to war a lot of troops are in the rural west and up North (this is a generalization and certainly *NOT always* true), so the recruitment base is also slanted to favor mountain training and peripheral defense

The creation of India's borders was complex and led to major issues that persist to this day. Sir Henry McMahon, on the British side, drew the McMahon Line, which is supposed to separate India from China. However, this line is not recognized by China, yet India uses it to claim territories that are under dispute. Moreover, when India and Pakistan were divided in 1947, the borders were hastily drawn by Sir Cyril Radcliffe, which led to further conflicts, especially over the region of Kashmir. The actions of these individuals during the British colonial period have repercussions even today. It's crucial to remember our history and seek peaceful and fair solutions to these territorial disputes.

@cecaloather8701
@cecaloather8701 10 месяцев назад
I will go further. If you call your resolution to the border issue a "Forward Policy", you are the aggressor, full stop. The reason why there is a border issue is due to the attempted expansion of the British Raj into Tibet and Xinjiang. Of course, many are under the impression that it was somehow the Chinese engaging in expansion at the area when the reverse is true. Another reason is that the Indian Republic for some reason wanted to inherit that colonial policy. India is obviously the aggressor here because it called its border policy the "Forward Policy"! Just push the borders further forward, be half hearted in resolving things peacefully and expect the Chinese not to react. As seen from the clashes at 2020, India has learnt nothing and wants to continue from Nehru's mistakes.

I think this video favoured Indian viewers more coz it doesn't cover CCP's warning to "withdraw troops or bear all consequences", which was the most serious diplomatic statement already. The most important incident- Zhou Enlai's visit to India in 1960, which is now considered the turning point and eventually resulted in war 1962, is not mentioned. What Zhou said in India is thoroughly recorded and interpreted in English can be found online. Another person worth mentioning is India's Defence Minister V.K. Krishna Menon at that time. Menon's meetings with China's foreign minister Chen Yi and Zhou Enlai failed to reach its purpose to reach peace and ease tension. Ironically, he was the person worsen the situation and led India unprepared for war as India's Defence Minister. Before the attack, China was trying all its means to address the serious consequences and Zhou's visit was last hope to use diplomatic means to solve the tension. China was very surprised that India wasn't very well prepared for military conflicts during the attack. I hope both sides learn history as lesson and try their best to avoid wars to come.
@adrianbelko7683
@adrianbelko7683 10 месяцев назад
Krishna Menon was the reason India was forbade to prepare, Nehru and Krishna Menon both considered Xàina to be an ally as a fellow Soviet Sympathisers in the east, both of them though weren't cómmunísts exactly but they did despise càpitàlism and nations that accepted capitalis ideas, with no history of any conflict between both the ancient civilizations who had been welcoming traders from either sides since ancient times Nehru never actually saw a wàr coming, furthermore Mao Zedong's primary intention for waging a wàr(which btw it wasn't, it was just a blitzkrieg on Aksai chín with ridiculously large force of 80K soldiers against a scattered 20K across the border) was to tarnish Nehru and consequently India's image on global scale as a major geopolitical player which they were quite successful at after the wàr And warning to face consequences doesn't justify the attack on another democracy, especially when it's just not us alleging Xaìnese to have expansionist imperialist motive, nobody wants a wàr but actually executing such feel good ideas like showering flowers and exchanging sweets with those who consistently encroach on yóur land is pretty hard to do when yóu don't live there

@@adrianbelko7683 It is pretty much a one sided claim to claim encroachment on your land when the other side claims it as well and it is interpreted in the same manner. The channel overall does favor against the Chinese perspective of historical events which is understandable (the majority of sources available in the West is the Indian perspective). If you would search up the Chinese perspective, it vastly contradicts the Indian perspective and the Indian perspective vastly contradicts the Chinese perspective. Neither are correct in their and either are wrong, the conflict is in border interests and not in humanitarian interests therefore morals can't quite applied.

@@adrianbelko7683 Like I said, the reasoning phrase and explaining phrase had been repeatedly and thoroughly done in India in front of Menon and Nehru by Zhou's visit.Differences remained and it wasn't successful for both sides(All contents available online in English). Both sides made diplomatic threats and statements. The border differences were made during British occupation, while China had been having regimes change. Thus, no written documents and formal agreement were made. I don't think it is acceptable to invite some (Tibet, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Taiwan etc) representatives to form an agreement and inform another domestic regime/government that the border has been re-arranged. If one has determined to do so, plz at least consider the livelihood of your citizens/soldiers and deter its enemies from attacking.

The video downplays Indian Forward Policy; the constant push forward and taking over of the disputed territory, while the Chinese were retreating trying to avoid conflict. Also, constant Chinese diplomatic attempts and warnings in order to avoid the war were ignored. Since the Indians refused to stop their encroachment the Chinese decided that enough is enough, and launched a full scale assault, overruning the Indians. Ever since then, the wound-licking Indians blame the Chinese and make it like it was Chinese fault, even though the fault was entirely with India. The border issue still exists today because India is senseless and Indians have some kind of blind nationalism that prevents any kind of introspection and reason. Out of 14 countries China has land border with, it resolved border issues with all these countries except with India (and its protectorate of Bhutan, because India refused to allow Bhutan to make the agreement with China). India on the other hand has border issue with almost all neighbours and isn't interested in negotiations but wants 100% of all the claims, and these claims have nothing to do with historical India - but instead modern Indians want to be successors of colonial Indians and demand colonial borders, which is ridiculous and of course China won't accept that, nor should it. Most Indians today are brainwashed by fake news US and UK media (as well as their own), which makes sense because if you want to be a (neo)colony its only fitting to have thoughts formed by the master(s).

China lost more than 300,000 people. This is recorded in the history of war. At that time, it directly entered today's Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Like Ladakh and South Tibet (Arunachal Pradesh), Aksai Chin is traditional Tibetan territory and is part of China. But in 1865, just after the Second Opium War and the Taiping Rebellion, China was extremely weak, and the British colonist took advantage of the situation to further their invasion into Tibet. W.H. Johnson, an official of the British Survey of India, arbitrarily drew the "Johnson Line". It incorporated nearly 30,000 square kilometers of land, including Aksai Chin, into British India, turning Aksai Chin into British Indian Kashmir. The British authorities did not even notify the Chinese government of this unilateral demarcation, let alone request recognition. However, there had never been any signs of Indian occupation or symbol of sovereignty in Aksai Chin. In Nehru's own words, it was a barren and desolate land, "not even a blade of grass could grow." On the other hand, China resumed its control over the area since the founding of the PRC. When it started building roads connecting Xinjiang and Tibet in the 1950s and continued until the end, India was not even aware of it. From any perspective Aksai Chin has never been a part of India.

Anecdote from the Chinese side: A squad of 3 Chinese soldiers charged 8 km behind Indian lines and took down 2 artillery positions guarded by 1st and 2nd Sikh battalion of the Indian elite 4th Infantry Division - an enemy dozens time their number. In the after-action report, the squad leader famously commented on thr Sikh’s bravery: “敌人非但不投降,还胆敢向我还击” (Instead of surrendering on sight, the enemy actually dared to shoot back). They were clearly too used to other Indian units’ lackluster resistance and were pleasantly surprised by the Sikhs. Squadleader’s name is Pang Guoxing, if you want to look him up 😅

There is a widely circulated story in China: Mao once told his team, "I thought about it for ten days and nights, but I still couldn't understand why India wanted to fight us." At that time, Chinese decision-makers believed that both China and India had just gained independence and had many domestic issues to address, such as education, infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and system building. China and India were both poor countries and should have stood together. Moreover, India was also a friend of the Soviet Union. The apparent strength of China and India was similar, and attacking an equally strong opponent would be difficult to achieve victory. Everything about it seemed illogical. Many years later, the Chinese gradually understood that Indians believed they were the inheritors of the British Empire's assets in South Asia. Therefore, they felt entitled to inherit everything beneficial set by the British, including the disputed border demarcations made by them. India believed it had inherited the industrial base established by the British in the Indian subcontinent and saw itself as the leader of the Non-Aligned Movement. On the other hand, China had just been liberated, was very poor, and maintained a low profile, leading India to perceive China as weak and powerless. This gave Nehru the ambition to seize Tibet from China. I've even heard that at the time, India intended for China to make Sichuan a strategic buffer zone between the two countries. However, while dreams are great, in 1962 India rashly assumed it would achieve an easy and decisive victory. When the war began, reality proved harsh, and the Indian army suffered continuous defeats. The Chinese forces even advanced to within 400 kilometers of Delhi. Naturally, after attacking Indian territory, the Chinese troops quickly retreated back to China. They had cautiously assessed their own logistics situation, recognizing that it would be very difficult for the Chinese army to receive large-scale supplies by crossing the Himalayas. Therefore, after securing their victory, they promptly withdrew. This encapsulates the main story of this farcical war.

@@NobleDorito8698 During this war the USSR actually help India more than China, and yet those Chinese atheists were still the stronger side in the war, even after the Cultural Revolution (when they destroy many temples, god statues and religions). If you really want to defend India you shouldn't say "Only God could've saved us that day", because in most time God didn't do that.
@NobleDorito8698
@NobleDorito8698 10 месяцев назад
@@user-justsomeone There's a whole reasoning why the world's been a mess for a long time but that won't fit your brain. Secondly,you lack basic historical education about this whole war. The USSR helped no one,not even China,other than supplying them alotta weapons before the 1962 War happened due to which China was morbidly stronger and modernised in terms of Millitary as compared to India. Indian soldiers still used Lee Enfields and WW2 Era weaponary which were left as a founding junction for the Indian army by the British Empire. Even in 1965 War,India only had Lend Lease WW2 British Centurion tanks while Pakistan had all new American Patton tanks in mass production along with modern American weapons for their service. While all this was happening,India was still but slowly joining ties with USSR. That's why after 1969 Sino-Soviet Spilit,USSR replaced China with India as one of it's key allies and they gave us alot of modern weapons and equipment and hell lotta technology. They also gave us money which we thankfully invested in Economic and overall development of India rather than the army. This being the key reason for the Indian Army having old equipment for a long time while India still being a grand economy. Now,about atheists, don't bring and divert topics through that. It wasn't the "Chinese Atheists"that magically made the PLA win the war. It were the Wild Wartime leadership of Mao which he was explicitly good at since he was fighting in the Chinese warlord era since the 1920's Talk about God,as I said,theres a whole reasoning why humanity has been suffering constantly for a long time and that reason your brain cannot digest. Had it not been for God,there was no way India would've safely existed even after independence because of all the decade long tragedies that constantly took place in India.
