China to Ban Nvidia? Joke! Taiwan Choke China: No Taiwanese Chips, No Weapons Production

Taiwan's TSMC, often referred to as the "guardian deity" of Taiwan, is a critical part of the "silicon shield" concept. In 2022, a Chinese economist with government ties called for "reclaiming Taiwan" and seizing TSMC. Some American scholars have even suggested a "scorched-earth policy" to destroy TSMC's equipment as a deterrent to Beijing's invasion plans.

Is there a country called Mainland ? After ww2 the delegates of 48 countries gathered in San Francisco US to sign the Treaty of Peace with Japan. According to the Treaty Japan only gave up the sovereignty over Taiwan but Japan has never transferred the sovereignty over Taiwan to any other country. The right to decide the political status of Taiwan should reside in 23.5 million of citizens currently living in Taiwan. The Chinese should be happy that they can get their high-tech from other countries that are much more advanced than themselves. They should rather ask themselves why they are not able to develop such things! If the Chinese were to gain a foothold in Taiwan, they would ruin all of the high technologies there. Therefore the world has a vital interest in Taiwan being and remaining independent. The Chinese can happilydo without Taiwanese chips. Then they will just have to make do with technology which was developed in China and is 25 years old.

How much did it cost Vegas for that pointless tunnel that's slower than walking? Solor roof tiles that never happened, hyper tunnel that's impossible, suddenly he's silent on that after bilking people out of money. His claims he's going to use rockets for travel around the world and have one hour turn around times and only a hundred bucks from Texas to France. He can't even get his current rocket engines turned around in a year let alone a hour. Self driving taxis going to save companies millions promised years ago yet not one exists but he got their deposits, same for ev semis, got their money but failed to tell them charging stations for them cost close to 100,000 dollars and require massive amounts of power and the trucks have short range and reduced loads. Then there's his admitted plans to turn x into the ccp styles wechat, having all social media and online transactions pass through it. He's free speech solely to get people to sign up and eventually he'll own their souls. I don't trust the man at all and wish he'd leave Texas.

Other thing is China has to figure out what the remote kill switch did. EVEN IF China could over come the process to operate the equipment and undo the remote kill switch, China would not last long due to two major factors. First item is repair and maintenance. There is only one company in the world to supply the matter, parts, and knowledge to take care of such issues. Second item, I am not sure of everything, is the general supplies to make the wafers. The materials have to be of very high standards and only a very small handful of companies produce those materials. And I do not see those companies selling to China. If China sets up shell companies to buy the materials, that is not going to work as the supplier companies know who should be able to order things.

There's one glaring error in your facts. Intel is not only fully capable of making 5nm chips, but they're already making 3nm right now as well as TSMC, and Intel are currently on track to beat TSMC to 20A and 18A nodes. Whereas Samsung's lead is only in memory module capacity, not processors. While TSMC is indeed the leading manufacturer of silicon wafers in the world, they're nowhere near the dominant force that this would lead you to believe as if Intel were completely incompetent.

When it's locked to one region you can monitor that smaller area, but when the entire planet can easily buy it you're guaranteed to have those willing to buy it for a restricted party. Not only is it insanely profitable, but not every country is entirely friendly to the US below the surface so they don't agree with the embargo. Especially those that are heavily indebted to China for foolishly taking Belt and Road money.

Go go go Taiwan 💪🏻💪🏻; pay attention: recently China’s Huawei has agreed with the Malaysian government to invest a few billions into Labuan (a small town in Malaysia with a population of around 90,000) to develop 5.5G technology with facial recognition; why Labuan (a small town off the coast of the state of Sabah)?; also recently a China company of a state owned China company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a Malaysian company to build up a port along the Straits of Malacca; with AI technology.

Okay let me put this into perspective for those not in the know 72 hours is extremely optimistic during the height of world war 2 it took literal months to completly secure islands in the pacific much smaller then Taiwan. The problems 1. They must cross a literal moat that makes the d day landings look absolutely tiny in comparison 2. There are few landing points where tanks or armor can land on Taiwan. 3. There are only two times during the year where it’s actually possible to invade because the seas around Taiwan are rough. 4. Assuming you get the first strike and element of surprise which is impossible but let’s say they do. They have to fight on an island that has been fortified for the last 70 years not to mention all the bunkers and extra crap stored in the mountains which are might I add only have like 1 maybe two roads at best that can handle light vehicles. 5. Swarm tactics don’t work anymore the advent of drones and counter drone tech has made it nigh impossible to beat a enemy with overwhelming force. Even then an island more heavily armed and defended and a people who I believe would actually fight China like the Taiwanese make that 72 hour figure out right insane if not impossible.

Now I get the “overwhelming force” retaliatory threat for crossing the line.

That would be a hilarious short-lived event if they blacklisted TSMC, Nvidia, and all AI / Navigation / Radio / 5G / Self-Driving chip manufacturing from Taiwan. a great amount of prefabs only exist in Taiwan. In 10 years, maybe South Korea and India could take up some of the slack, but it's not so simple to build 5nm / 4nm lithographics and the staff / resources to engineer / tweak designs and get licensing for some of the pioneering AI chipset designs. They'd have to rely on South Korea and Malaysia/India. That would be as massive as banning Rice consumption in China. Their entire high-end manufacturing industry would be forced to export their cars, phones, computers, and semiconductor fabs over to HK/India to avoid the bans, and that would kill entire towns and cities in a day. They're already going slowly bankrupt, a chip ban would cause the executives to pack up and leave China in 24 hours. That would be a final straw for a lot of these companies. Now, the middle ware would be fine, but the commercial grade laptops, phones, cars, 20-60% of manufacturing would stop. Dead.

PFFF, yeah, remove your Nvidia chips in your computers/laptops/etc literally wont matter. Nvidia Fiscal year 2024 Q4 income statement, gaming is 2.9B (That is the laptops/PC/etc chips) while Data centers (i.e. thats AI growth, the AI learning data servers) grew upto 18.4B. No one is buyin Nvidia stocks for "PC market", all the hype and stock growth came from the AI boom and Nvidia are the #1 chip sellers for AI servers datacenters. People wont care even if the gaming sector in Nvidia even if hypothetically dropped in quarterly earnings.

Taiwan has plans to level its chip manufacturing facilities should China invade. Note the U.S. has the technology to manufacture chips. Just not at the vast scale as Taiwan. Understand that the initial chips are created in the U.S.. Taiwan merely has the experience and expertise to scale them up in a short time. The U.S. is currently building manufacturing facilities in the U.S.. Note: The initial building these facilities is expensive, but once built, they are no more expensive then producing them in Taiwan. It's nearly all automated.👈 out of necessity. Human presence can contaminate the entire process. It's that sensitive.

Intel has fixed their problems and is now ahead of TSMC? How come I'm learning this in a comment buried so far down on a YT video, and not anywhere else? Especially considering the claim that this is 3 year old info.

I would like to comment about that Chinese general plans to overcome Taiwan's defense in 72 hours or 3 days. The minute China starts bombing Taiwan, the US and other nations would be sending aircraft. I am pretty sure that the US and the other countries have made plans in the case China should use military force with Taiwan. China may think that it will take days to get anything organized for the US but hours after the start of the bombardment, the US will have forces there and more on the way. One item on the Chinese side is how well will their equipment will preform as designed? Various videos on RU-vid show problems. Ship board electrical systems, like radars, can not be used at full power without some other equipment being downgraded. The aircraft carriers are tagged as training ships plus they need a tug to tow them back for repairs and need a fuel tender to supply fuel for the boilers.

China's total debt to GDP ratio now stands at an eye watering 287%. But hold on. That's not national debt. That is not net debt. That is the total of household/personal debt + non-financial corporates + government debt. The last one is 56%. The corresponding number for the US is 125%. The 287% numbers comes from adding everything up, in a way so rarely used for other countries, there isn't even a name for it. I hate all these China-is-going-to-collapse people. They tell us to not worry, there's no need to do anything, because China will implode all by itself. We just have to wait a month or two. They've been telling us that for a FEW YEARS !!! If all their past predictions never come true, why should it come true now? Worst of all, if we believe them, settle down, and grab some popcorn to watch and wait for the s*****storm to hit China and destroy China, WTF do we do if nothing happens to China and they overtake the US and leave the US in the dust? No, I say the safer thing to do is NOT to just hope and convince ourselves that China is going to collapse. The safer thing to do is to work hard and stay ahead. Think about it. If China has propaganda budget (which they probably do), who are they going to fund? The people telling the US to beware and not let up? Or the feel-good people telling us there is nothing to worry about?
